We're fast approaching the end of 2024, if you can believe it — but this is always an exciting time for our industry, since everyone's focus shifts towards the all-important Game of the Year discussion.
Here on Push Square, we have a long history of extensive Game of the Year coverage, as we simply love to look back on the last 12 months and applaud the PlayStation games that left an impression.
As always, you'll get to hear all about our own picks for Game of the Year as we approach the holidays — but this time around, we want to involve the Push Square community more than ever before.
To help celebrate what has been a very busy year for PlayStation gaming, we're inviting all of our readers — including you! — to get in touch and actually write about their favourite PS5 game of 2024.
A selection of the best submissions will be included in the community's own Game of the Year feature article, which will be posted on the site for all to see.
Here's everything you need to know:
- Use our Contact Us page to submit your own Game of the Year piece
- Make sure the 'Reader Letters' subject is selected
- Make sure to include your name and email address (only your name will be published in the eventual article)
- In the Message box, simply tell us about your personal Game of the Year, and why you think it's so good
- Your submission must not exceed 150 words
- Your submission must be about one PS5 game that released in 2024 (remakes and remasters are fine)
- Submissions close at midnight (GMT) on Monday the 9th December
So, if you'd like to be part of Push Square's official Game of the Year coverage, follow the steps above, and share your passion for your favourite PS5 game of 2024.
Thanks in advance to everyone who takes part, and we look forward to reading about your Game of the Year!

If anyone's got any questions about this whole thing, let me know and I'll try to answer them.
This is such a cool feature this year!
Gonna be a challenge to limit my word count… I am a MASTER waffler.
@ShogunRok can you edit my ramblings to make some sense?
Does Planet Zoo count? It’s not a new game but hadn’t been a ps5 game before meaning I’d never encountered it before
@carlos82 Haha, I can try. We'll make edits for typos and grammar, as long as they're obvious mistakes.
@Totheteeth Yep, as long as it released in 2024 for PS5, it counts — even if it was on other platforms before.
Oh this is a really cool addition for the GotY discussion, I really like it.
And luckily for me, Nine Sols is out on PS5 tomorrow, and I played it on PC back when it released, so I know what I'm writing about.
@ShogunRok it’s a bit silly to ask this right after my submission got sent but hey no harm in asking; is it ok if my submission message happens to name-drop more than one game? I feel I made it clear regardless what my GOTY game submission is but hey I love asking about pedantics and semantics hahaha.
In case I made a big goof, feel free to edit out the games that aren’t my goty pick haha.
Trying to keep it short and still ending up with 172 words. Time to edit... thank god I'm not a writer, I waffle too much.
EDIT: Got it to 149 but had to get rid of mentioning the music, what a cruel world.
@Yousef- Yeah that's fine, as long as you're picking just one of them as your GOTY!
Had to download an app to count words (I'm on mobile) but it was fun.
Anyone who remembers what I said all year will know my choice. 😂
I sent mine in. I'm really bad at articulating why I like something but I tried 😅
Unfortunately, I think 2024 was lukewarm year for console gaming, nothing really excited me or pushed the bar. I think I played more PS4 titles than PS5 this year. Nothing wrong with a nice calm year to catch up on some backlog though.
Just sent mine in! Hopefully it's below the 150 word mark lol. I tried to make it short and to the point. I'm excited to see everyone else's submissions, cheers!
@DonkeyFantasy why concord deserve a second chance (please help me)
@Yousef- 👀 Now I’m definitely curious.
Elden Ring DLC <3
What a delightful idea! Thank you guys for doing this
I've never had a better year for gaming - I have so many fantastic titles to play with some very good games still sitting in the backlog despite playing for many hours each day. I've watched this business evolve since inception and have never had such choice and options.
When I thought about all the games I played this year, many worthy of consideration, only one rose to the top and became my obvious choice. It was lovely to try and condense those feelings into a few words and have the chance of sharing them all with you in a 'readers choice article' and I appreciate the chance to do so..
@ShogunRok Can i send in favorite from years ago I'm so far behind. 😭
I'll need to look up what games came from 2024.
My GOTY 2024 choice. 😊
BARBIE: PROJECT FRIENDSHIP PS5
Hallo Pish Squire. I am writing you about my favourite game of the year. It has been a difficult decision, one which I mulled over aforementioned wine and now can’t even come to a conclusion
Cool stuff! I'll submit my voice a bit later once I'm done with DA: The Veilguard although I see myself giving my vote to either Astro Bot or Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth.
Trails of Daybreak. It's Trails. The greatest JRPG series ever!
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is definitely my Game of the Year for 2024.
The patched up version.
On PS5 Pro.
@8bit4Life I love this game too despite its flaws.
It proves that we don't need perfect games but creative ways of playing an old genre.
Yea, but they’ve never really done it right.
Don't have time to do a full write up for the feature, so I'll just say that Unicorn Overlord is easily my top PS5 game that I played this year. Absolutely loved it!
@Anti-Matter good choice, but I didn’t realise you played kids games?
@Madnurz
I only play kids games and a few rated Teen games.
@ShogunRok
Well, I hope PushSquare staff don't mind with my GOTY 2024 choice and I really hope my GOTY 2024 choice can be featured for next article about them.
My GOTY 2024 choice is BARBIE: PROJECT FRIENDSHIP PS5. 😊
PushSquare still doesn't have Barbie: Project Friendship PS5 version as game catalog and I would like to see that game available on PushSquare so I can rated it 10/10 and peoples here can see my unusual choice of GOTY games. 😊
Well, everybody have their own game choice even the very unusual one.
Sent mine in last night. Hope it reached the right place 😎😎 I had a tie for my #1 so I just went with the lesser popular one of two popular games 😂😂 I figured enough people will be writing about FF7 Rebirth 😂😂😂
I forgot to word count before submitting 😂 oh well
Done. There was a clear winner for me!
@ShogunRok
Apologies - I may have submitted a review twice.
My phone had a bit of a moment.... (its getting old now) and didnt seem to send, so I re-sent (thankfully I had copied the text) and got the 'thank you for your enquiry' i didnt get the first time.
If you did receive the first time as well - apologies, the text is identical.
@Rich33 All good, thanks for taking part!
I believe mine this year would have to be Astrobot. Great Music, Great gameplay, Ending had me in tears, and then rejoiced. Such a colorful and positive game overall for me. With just added free-dlc.
Here's an idea. Just for some end-of-year humor, wouldn't be funny to have an another article, named something like "In an alternative timeline", where you post people's "joke" reviews. Can't wait to read all about Concord, Suicide Squad and Skull Island: Rise of Kong hahaha
My GOTY is Lorelei and the Laser Eyes which releases on PS5 this week I think. Astro Bot will be my holiday backlog title so it still has a shot too.
Just got it this weekend, but Helldivers 2 is already the most fun game I’ve played all year!
@ShogunRok Finally getting on this and, man, am I realizing that my average comment on this site exceeds 150 words. 😅
