Bloody hell, it's finally happening. While it might not be a full-on PlayStation Showcase — as was rumoured — Sony is putting on a State of Play broadcast, which will be its first event since February. The 30-minute showing promises a look at 14 games, but what's actually in store for us starved PlayStation fans?
We've gathered the Push Square editorial team to share their (potentially completely stupid) predictions. Once you've had a read, feel free to share your own hopes and dreams in the comments, and determine whether your expectations are beyond repair.

SUPERHOT VR is getting warmer. I’ve been hoping and praying for quite some time now that we’ll get a true PSVR2 port of SUPERHOT VR. This was the first game I played on Sony’s original headset and all these years later it’s still one of my all-time favourite VR experiences. We’ve seen a fair few PSVR2 ports since its launch in early 2023, but I think this time-slowing shooter is the most necessary of the lot. Not only would it receive a graphical sharpening thanks to the OLED panels, the PSVR2’s far superior tracking system would infinitely improve the gameplay flow. While I’d love some new PSVR2 titles, if Sony only has just one more port in it, let it be SUPERHOT VR.
Concord's calling. Concord has the potential to be a big multiplayer franchise for Sony, and I hope the inevitable State of Play gameplay reveal solidifies that theory. Helldivers 2 proved that a new kid could swagger onto the block like they’ve always been there, and it’s time for Sony to put its money where its mouth is with this first-party multiplayer game. We don’t know much outside of the colourful CG reveal trailer, but if Firewalk Studios can muster up that same level of grandiose and vibrancy, then I’ve got my fingers crossed for this State of Play reveal.
What's next, Naughty Dog? At this point I think we need to see something from Naughty Dog. So far this generation, Sony’s golden child studio has released nothing but remasters and remakes — great ones mind you, but remakes and remasters nonetheless. It’s about damn time that we got some inclination into what Naughty Dog's working on, and more importantly, whether it’s something we’ll see this generation. Honestly, at this point I’d take a Naughty Dog logo themed after whatever game's in the oven, and maybe a working title. It’s a bit out there, but a man can dream.

Surprise, it's the PS5 Pro! Sony has specified that this State of Play will feature 14 games... but what if there's something else to it? The PS5 Pro is all-but-official and it's supposed to be releasing later this year — so it'd make sense to hear about it sooner rather than later. A quick teaser trailer would kickstart the console's marketing cycle, and would give Sony a solid platform over the coming months.
Little Devil Inside is unleashed... again. Part of me thinks this is some pie-in-the-sky sh*t given the project's history, but I just want to see Little Devil Inside again — and I want it to look like a game that might actually release in the relatively near future. Now, there is some smoke to this fire in that earlier this year, developer Neostream dropped a very brief reminder that the title still lives — but it needs to have a proper return to the spotlight, lest we lose hope all over again.
Ghost of Tsushima 2 steps from the shadows. This might just be the recent PC release getting the best of my judgement, but I've got a gut feeling that Ghost of Tsushima's sequel isn't that far off. Even just a cheeky State of Play teaser would be enough to send me reeling, although it would probably mean that the game's targeting an early 2025 launch. Look, the more I write about this, the more I talk myself out of the idea — so I'm just going to double down and say it's happening. Make me believe, Sony.

There’s a new Astro game, and it’s skipping PSVR2. While the excellent Astro Bot series found its legs on PSVR – this author, in fact, was one of the few championing its original The Playroom VR tech demo – I’m expecting Team Asobi’s speculated successor to be a full-blown pancake platformer. One theory I’ve heard mooted is that the adorable automaton could make his way into various different PlayStation worlds for his first full-blown PS5 adventure, and it’s a concept I can’t get out of my head. Imagine exploring the universes of Sly Cooper, Ratchet & Clank, and God of War, all from Astro’s pint-sized perspective. It sounds great, eh?
Light will triumph against the darkness in Kingdom Hearts 4. Now that Final Fantasy 16 and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth have released, it’s time for Square Enix to turn its attention to Sora and crew for its next big RPG adventure. I expect a full reveal will be reserved for D23 later in the year, but I don’t think the Japanese publisher will miss an opportunity to remind everyone the title’s still in development. I don’t expect this to be an exclusive considering the company’s recent recommitment to multiformat releases, but the franchise has always been humongous on PlayStation, and I’d expect Sony to have marketing rights at least.
The claws are out for Marvel’s Wolverine. Look, we all know the Insomniac Games outing is still several years away – after all, we all saw the leaks. But with Hugh Jackman said to reprise his role as the point-haired X-Man in the new Deadpool movie, and all those stolen assets circling around the web, it’s probably right about time we got a proper new trailer of this upcoming PS5 exclusive to change the narrative around it. I reckon we see a short cutscene and some gameplay, just to keep this one at the forefront of everyone’s mind.

It's time to go beyond the LEGO Horizon. Earlier in the year, we would never have paired the iconic Danish building blocks with Guerrilla Games' popular open world RPG series, and yet there's evidence to suggest it's happening. Admittedly the evidence is a bit ropey, but it's coming from notable enough sources that we don't want to disregard it completely. And, you know what, a LEGO Horizon game might actually work pretty well. Perhaps you'll be able to build your very own machines? If this is real, and we kinda hope it is, this State of Play could very well be the place to debut it.
Until Dawn's PS5 revival reemerges. A bit of a boring one, this, but I think this has been forgotten by most. PS4's beloved narrative horror adventure Until Dawn is being brought to current-gen hardware, developed by Ballistic Moon for PS5 as well as PC. Currently scheduled for 2024, a release date announcement seems like a no-brainer for this presentation. Sony will no doubt revel in telling us how the new version utilises all PS5's bells and whistles, too, including proper usage of the DualSense's haptics and adaptive triggers. I'll be quite surprised if this doesn't show up.
WipEout? WipEout. This is a pie-in-the-sky, wishful thinking prediction, but I don't care. I just want it to happen. Come on, imagine a PS5 exclusive WipEout. Is Sony's current console really going to be the only PlayStation in the platform's history to not have a WipEout game? It would be a real travesty if it works out that way. A new WipEout would not only look amazing, but would be a great ambassador for the DualSense. Throw in support for PSVR2 and it could be truly brilliant. There's no evidence this is happening, and in all likelihood it isn't, but my goodness, Sony's futuristic racing series would sing on PS5. Get on it, Hermen.

I'll take a new Astro Bot please.
And anything with four wheels.
Well 100% see: Astro Universe, TLOU 3, new sci fi naughty dog game, garbage pail kids hero shooter by naughty dog also, bloodborne 2 & 3, demon souls 2, Knack open world Metroidvania.
I think we'll see Resident Evil 9, some live-service game from Sony nobody cares about, and, yeah, Astro Bot. The Lego Horizon game wouldn't surprise me, either.
My prediction on the 14 titles:
1.Astrobot reveal and release for this year
2.Concord gameplay and release date maybe beta
3.Lego horizon reveal/maybe zero dawn remaster
4.Until dawn gameplay and release date
5. Ragnarok PC trailer- this might be at summer game fest instead.
6. Little Devil inside- release date and going to plus
7. Small step trailer release date- maybe into plus
8 VR game
9. VR game
10. VR game
11. Big 3rd party game maybe marketing rights -possible it's the new monster hunter
12.unannouced indie game
13.indie game
14. Ghost 2 reveal and teaser.
Also maybe helldivers2 next enemy faction teaser and or ps stars update.
What I want: Ghost of Tsushima 2, NieR, some new first party smaller game like Sly Cooper or Astro Bot, Playstation port of Killer Instinct, Plucky Squire release date
What I expect: Lego Horizon, Concord, Astro Bot, KH4, tease for a PS5 pro
I think it will be far far more understated than what people think. And people are getting their hopes up just to be let down.
Probably live service stuff fairgame/concord. GoW for PC. Couple of 3rd party that they have the advertising rights
I saw rumours of a MediEvil 2 remake being shadow dropped. Please god.
I'd actually flip if they showed KH IV 😅. Normally I'd say like we'd see something as big as KH IV at a crappy State Of Play but then I remember that back in the day the re-revealed FF VII R at the end of a SOP so I guess it's possible.......just let me huff my copium ok guys I need it I've been chewing on nothing for over two years 😅
If even half of these were true, I'd be the happiest with my ps5 in the last 2 years. Seriously a few exclusives from first party, even do like xbox and show some stuff that are a while away, please, I'll go on my knees...
Astro Forever, is it just me or the emails from playstation are featuring him more...
Ghost isn't coming, with assassin's creed shadows coming out later this year which is direct competition they would wait till its hype is down before showing anything.
A new astro reveal trailer running on the PS5 PRO would be exciting.
And neither is naughty dogs, I mean they just cancelled their big online game recently, ps5 pro though will get a tease. I've learnt from the last few years with ps, don't get your hopes up and you won't be disappointed.
1, Concord shown and dated.
2, Astro Bot shown and dated.
3, Resident Evil 9 reveal.
4, MGS 3 Remake gameplay.
5, Pragmata,
6, Little Devil Inside
7, Silent Hill 2,
8, Until Dawn Remaster,
9, Lego Horizon (but not by a Sony studio)
10, Kingdom Hearts 4
11-14, Random VR games (for those 10 people interested).
If concord is coming out this year they have to show it. After the last CGI teaser if its all cutscene that wont cut it. Plus its live service online multiplayer, generally not much to show other than gameplay for that.
I think Ghost of Tsushima 2 and Naughty Dogs next game are too big for them to just reveal at a state of play, you're just getting your hopes up for no reason if you're expecting those. They will be saved for the proper showcase later this year.
@UltimateOtaku91 There’s a Silent Hill transmission a couple hours after the SoP, I don’t think they’d show it off at the State of Play
@Deoxyr1bose It's a Playstation exclusive so I think they will show a trailer of it and then Konami will show more of a deeper dive with some gameplay.
I'll always dream about Dark Cloud 3 getting announced.
@UltimateOtaku91 Agreed about Silent Hill 2, the State of Play is later in the day than usual such that it looks intentionally lined up to be very close to the Silent Hill Transmission event.
Nintendo has DQIIIHD-2D, so I’m going to say PS will get FF Tactics remastered that was rumoured shown as the square Enix title. A release date for Lost Soul Aside and perhaps Convallaria, God of War Ragnarok PC, Until Dawn update, Concord update, Pragmata update and maybe silent hill 2. Indie wise Little Devil inside release date, and Judas release date, and for VR Half Life Alyx
Edit: of course Astro and Lego Horizon will be there too
It´s about time they properly reveal Concorde and Fairgame$.
Wouldn't mind a new Naughty Dog IP tease though I'm still sour about Factions 2 being cancelled.
Until Dawn release date with new trailer , but after the trailer plays another comes up Teasing the next Chapter of Until Dawn sequel developed by firesprite. Also San Monica studios new space ip is finally revealed and shown off. also we'll get a game that no one is expecting or that hasn't leaked at all or anything.
I would also like to see a new Wipeout game, I don't think we will though.
I am really hoping to see something of Ghost of Tsushima 2! Even if it is going to be early next year release. Astrobot has to make an appearance, the free game was great. Wolverine and Naughty Dog's next game would be great additions as well. Trying not to get too hyped for this state of play considering some of the other disappointments.
Astro or Behemoth would do it for me.
Anything else is a bonus.
Isn't it normally the PushSquare staff that tell US to keep our hype levels in check?!
@Shepherd_Tallon Yeah I think there is a high probability of Behemoth being shown.
Hopefully Sony put some effort in the VR content shown.
No expectations besides me wanting Concord to look fun.
I know I'm in the minority here but I think the fact that they are doing a show for games to be released on 2024 should be celebrated.
Concord and Astrobot are the must for the show because Billbil doesn't miss.
No PS5Pro. That is going to be for the next half of the year (probably september like with the ps4 pro) and I actually expect for the big first party games for 2025 and beyond to be revealed with the pro not in this SoP.
XDEV made a tweet teasing their work is going to be there so a new or existent big partnership is on the way. I wish it won't be another SE game, those guys aren't wort it.
Is Ghost of Tsushima 2 an actual thing or is everybody hoping that Sucker Punch will give us a sequel? Personally, I would like to see them give us another new IP. GoT felt complete and giving a follow up would detract from the first. What I wouldn't give to get another Infamous!
Naughty Dog needs to announce a new IP as well. I feel they are putting too many eggs in the LoU basket. Don't really care for the video game show adaptations that are becoming big. Not that they aren't good it's just not my thing. I want to interact with those stories not be a bystander.
I have hopes that Concord can be another fresh injection to the GaaS genre after the absolute blast that Helldivers has been.
There is no way Kingdom Hearts IV will be here.
I will be happy with literally just an Astro Bot game playable without VR.
"Naughty Dog's next game teased."
I love(d) all their games.
Can't wait to see what they bring next.
You guys are setting yourselves up for disappointment.
We'll get, at most, Concord and the Destiny 2 expansion from the first party studios. With some crazy luck you'll see more of Fairgames.
I want that Gravity Rush 2 remaster
It's going to be Astro Bot crazy. I feel like they want to have it take over from the sackboy games as the go to PS Platformer pf the future, and also be realised as the full on PlayStation mascot for generations to come.
There's already astro bot themed community challenges to get people playing the original PS5 game. Marketing laden with astrobot. And I'd not be surprised if there's someone in an astrobot suit during the show 😁
As for the other stuff, just hint or let us know what some studios are working on and that would be fine. It doesn't have to be a full on trailer, just let us know something to ease everyone's minds that there is a plan going forward that isn't just the remnants of the GaaS push.
They owe people at least one surprise, as the leaks were pretty boring stuff
@JuiceboxMeister a new infamous would actually be pretty cool on the newer gen of console. I feel like a hard reset and reworking of the franchise for a new generation would work, as well. Rather than a remake or continuation of the stories they have already told.
Sony own some nice IP's that have potential for the future, and the superhero/antihero/strange new powers themes without the limitations of a Marvel should be utilised. Especially now that TV and Film adaptions aren't sh*** (they were apparently making an infamous film at some point too?)
At least one big announcement... I love small, indie games but at this point they MUST show us something from their studios.
Surprised no one has put this on their lists, but I expect Spiderman 2 DLC will finally be revealed.
Wishful thinking: MGS delta update, resi 9 announcement, KH4, naughty dog tease, GOT 2 reveal, wolverine
Likely - astrobot, concord, until dawn, Lego horizon, shadow of erdtree, sonic x shadow
Shadow drop Bloodborne Remaster PS5 and PC to break the Steam charts
I only vote for new Astro Bot which hopefully not exclusives for PSVR.
And I feel it's about time Bluepoint showed what they're working on since they've been silent for 4 years after they released Demon's Souls remake for PS5 launch.
Outside that, i don't give a finger about live service games like Concord and Fairgame$ or VR games.
I don't expect Sony gonna showed big games outside SH 2. So people who wants to see KH 4, Pragmata, RE 9, etc etc gonna be dissapointed lel.
Here’s hoping that Sony can revive one of their 3 big military franchises to compete against CoD
I wouldn’t mind another Knack. I’m watching my kid play FF7 Rebirth and I keep expecting Knack to be in one of those Titan crystal caves. The golem Barret and Red fought was basically a Knack boss.
I'm more of an old school PlayStation fan, so I'm not really expecting much here. I'd like something fun and weird?
The rumor of the Gravity Rush 2 remaster said it would be announced in May soooooo...?
@Deoxyr1bose Oh god, that sounds so dreadful it will probably be true and I'm going to blame you for jinxing us. (lol, jk)
Just a heads up the developers of Superhot have said they are done porting the game to other platforms and are fully working on a new project. Unless they let another developer port it to PSVR2 which seems unlikely due to costs then it isn’t happening.
I hope they announce suicide squad 2.
Sony's wording made it sound like it'd be a very lukewarm SoP, particularly when they mentioned of PS studio games coming this year. As it stands, that would only show live service titles that may or may not hit this year, so the hope lies in third party reveals and most of all, a teaser for naughty dog or sucker punche's next game.
I feel the window from announcement to release is around 18 months, so showing a new first party title whether it be from Blue point Naughty dog or sucker Punch, we'd still be looking at late 25 early 26. It's time. Guess we'll see but my expectations are very tempered
I know this won't happen, but I have been going down nostalgia lane these days and replaying the Jak games (trying to beat Jak 2 for the first time, actually) and I so wish PlayStation would bring back the series. Insomniac still makes Ratchet games, c'mon Naughty Dog :' )
But yeah, I'm hyped for Astro as everyone else.
I'd be happy with updates on previously announced Exodus, Pragmata, Aftermath and DS2.
My prediction is that people are going to be disappointed.
Wow, so many dreams are gonna be crushed today...
What I want to know is what's Bluepoint working on, there has been no news about them since Demon's Souls Remake 3,5 years ago.
But I don't hold out any hope there's gonna be any meaningful announcement on them in today's show.
Yea I'm not bothering getting hyped or predicting because at this point you'd of thought we would of seen all of what first party are bringing considering more than 50% of the studios havent released a single game for the new hardware and we are half way through the generation.
Naughty dog apart from remasters have been no where,
Sucker Punch no where,
Bend no where,
blue point came out strong with its launch title but 0 clues from them since really.
FireSprite are ment to be working on a horror game, but still.just nothing.
Concord ment to come out this year but we've literally had a cgi burger teaser.
Fairgames yea enough said.
There's literally been 1 consistent developer and thats insomniac
Plus we got word that nothing major is even coming out until March 2025. Meaning half the top studios won't of released a game until the end of the ps5 life cycle.
Astrobots New Game
Marvel Rivals Console Port Announcement
God of War Ragnarok PC port
A new Five Nights At Freddys
A new Dynasty Warrior
Alien Rogue Incursion
Path of Exile 2
Monster Hunter Wilds
Silent Hill 2 Remake
Phantom Blade Zero
A new game from the middle east
A new VR game
Until Dawn PC & PS5
@Sequel Honestly at this point I’m so bored with the idea of Bloodborne 3, I’m hoping they just skip right to 4, but in an edgy twist, simply call it Bloodborne. Please be turn-based!!🦆
Show me what Blue Point are doing, also a Bloodborne remaster by Nixxes
I'd trade anything Kingdom Hearts 4 for an official Final Fantasy IX Remake announcement 😍
