Well, it was supposed to be a huge week of PlayStation news, but all in all it was a bit uneventful, wasn't it? We got new details on the future of PS Plus, but outside of that, it was a bit dreary really. Here's what we're playing this weekend.
Robert Ramsey, Deputy Editor
I'm in that weird half-space where I'm not reviewing any games, but at the same time, my backlog is pretty dry. I'll probably just settle into some old standbys over the weekend, then; testing out Testament in Guilty Gear Strive and maybe booting FIFA 22 up for a quick kick about.
Stephen Tailby, Associate Editor
I'll be playing LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, with a review coming very soon. Live long and prosper.
Liam Croft, Assistant Editor
More Horizon Forbidden West for me. I haven't really made any progress since last weekend, so hopefully, I find some time to push the main story forward.
Graham Banas, Reviewer
Hot off the tails of finally playing through the Legendary Edition of the Mass Effect trilogy, I'm working on a review for Moss: Book II! I loved that first game, and can't wait to reunite with the adorable Quill! Plus, I've been convinced to install *gulp* Fortnite to play that new "no-building" mode, which honestly sounds more fun than the regular version of the game!
Jamie O'Neill, Reviewer
I've found it fascinating checking out Push Square's readers' order of their Best PS Vita Games, so I'm equally intrigued to see how you all rate your favourite PSP games, too. I hope April showers my gaming time with PSP titles, starting with Mega Man Maverick Hunter X from 2006.
That's what we're playing this weekend, then, but what about you? As always, share your gaming agenda in the comments section below.

1. Geminose
2. Dragon Quest Builders 1 PS4
Just started Blue Reflection and Lost Paradise to see which would take my fancy as the next game I play…unfortunately they both have. Don’t really like playing two games at once but I might be for a while.
I just bought "Assassin's Creed Unity" for three quid. That'll do.
On the switch I will be continuing with fire emblem three houses which I've just started the side story DLC so I can recruit the characters into the main game and my god it is HARD. I will also be playing the new Kirby again, did the first World last week and will do another one this weekend, love the little challenges for each level.
On playstation 5 I completed Horizon Forbidden West last night so can now finally move onto Tiny Tina Wonderlands later today, also reached level 47 in Elden Ring last night and onto the 5th area so ant wait to explore that but Im more surprised I've lasted this long albeit thanks to the summoning stones lol
On xbox I've decided to put the series S on for the first time in 2 months, started playing guardians of the galaxy on gamepass and having a blast so far, will say though that the constant dialogue between the characters whilst traversing can get too much
Fire emblem awakening on the 3DS. Almost done with the game and it’s great. It’s my first FE game too.
I might take a look at the psnow library now that I have a subscription.
No xbox or switch this weekend.
Genshin Impact, I'm gonna help a friend kill the Wolf Lord so he can get passed the AR 45 hump of the game. Then, probably some Guilty Gear Strive, Elden Ring, and Crusader Kings 3!
Platinumed Elden Ring a week ago, and still play it a lot. What a masterpiece.
Switching between Horizon FW, GT7 and Elden Ring depending on what I feel like.
After nearly forty hours with the fabulous Gran Turismo 7, I’ll be working my way up to fifty over the course of the weekend.
Only problem is, when I played a couple quick races last night, the right side haptics suddenly stopped working on my DualSense. Fingers crossed that it’s okay when I boot it back up later. I really don’t need another £55 expenditure right now.
Other than that, I really must get back to Horizon Forbidden West and my fresh playthrough of Grand Theft Auto V on PS5. Also, after falling off around halfway through, I’ve also got Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut on the back burner. Away from Playstation, I’m a few hours into the deceptively difficult Tunic on my Series S. Really hoping this one makes it’s way to PS5 once Microsoft’s exclusivity period is over.
Elden Ring and GT7.
Absolutely loving Elden Ring. I'm only 30-odd hours in but so far it's been epic. Every frame feels like the cover of a fantasy novel.
And GT7, wow. I keep saying I had no interest in this series before the last few weeks, but so far it's blowing me away. Nailing those turns and getting the gold on the licences is just bliss.
Elden Ring and GT7, also plan to jump back into AC Valhalla and clear some mysteries and artifacts.
Not sure yet, probably more HFW, even though I have the platinum as of the early hours this morning. 137 hours 90.74% still some bandit outposts, a race and one final collectable along with machine variants and data points.
Might give GG Strive a spin with the new character and start something like Death's door.
Have a fantastic weekend everyone wherever you are and whatever your up to!
I had an exciting start of the week with an unexpected payrise and then at the end tested positive for the C, 😂😂😂. So I'm locking myself away playing sponge Bob and downloading paradise killer, whilst my chest punishes me with never ending coughs. 😭😂
GT7 mixed with Chapter 2 of The Journey Down!
PS5: Finishing up the last tidbits of Ghostwire: Tokyo. Somewhat disappointed with the game, unfortunately. I’d give it a 6.5/10 at best.
XBSX: Trying out Weird West, great first impressions. I’m also starting up The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for the first time (god, I’m incredibly late on this masterpiece).
Finished the final GT7 menu book with a first place finish yesterday. First ever GT game for me so pleased with that. Going to continue with the brilliant Pyschonauts 2 and finally start Hitman 3. Excited for Inter v Juve and probably pop on a bit of Wrestlemania for old time sakes. Have a great weekend everyone.
55 hours into elden ring so far and I think I've only seen maybe about half the map. Very rare do I play a game this big that keeps itself interesting and exciting this deep in. I think they've outdone themselves.
Giving legends Arceus a break after completing the story, finally switching (😃) to pikmin 3. Only a little into it so far but it's got a very unique charm to it. Early impressions say I'll enjoy the challenge mode more than the story as I'm looking forward to replaying particular missions over and over for better scores.
Got a serious backlog, dying light 2,horizon west etc,but playing cyberpunk 2077 on ps5 finally, lovin it so far, one crash and one glitch after 10 hours play time so that will do me.
I think today will be another day where I play more of Triangle Strategy on Switch than anything else.I absolutely love this game!
Of course I WILL be playing something else and that game is the brilliant Horizon Forbidden West.About 40 hours into it and still have half the map to uncover..
Also I may have another go at Spongebob Squarepants for a bit of fun.
Lots of Elden Ring - a stunning game!
@LN78 that's a good deal. In my opinion it's got the best gameplay (with fighting, stealth and parkour) of the entire series. And the city of Paris they've created I imagine had held up really well visually. The side content got tiresome (there was so much of it) and the story I felt could have done with one more draft but overall one of the better games in the series. Hope you enjoy
Ps5 Horizon Forbidden West and Ghostwire Tokyo Series X Weird West from ex developer of Arkane Studios, very cool so far put a few hours in. Have a great gaming weekend all
Really got bad fomo vibes for Elden Ring but I must clear some of my backlog. Near the end of it takes two for platinum 100 already nearly knocked out deaths door ps4 platinum for 101
Think I'm gonna pick up GT7 again, haven't played it other than to collect my credits. Need to crack on with the final few menus and the last licence.
Other than that, finished Kena this week, was a decent game, great in 60fps. Wasn't blown away but it was enjoyable.
So I'll probably move on to Death Loop as well.
And throw in some Frost Punk for good measure.
@Anti-Matter Dragon Quest Builders is a fun game i loved it not enough to Platinum it but i had a blast.
@Wazeddie22 Traingle Strategy is definitely on my radar, I like the art style like octopath traveler. Worth getting then?
Sonic 2 as I didn't finish it before the film yesterday, and Streets of Rage 4 3rd dlc character.
@Neilytee Those RPG's and things like DS make me lose a lot of time.
@Neilytee Yeah same here Horizon Forbidden West, Dying Light 2, Ghostwire Tokyo, Pokemon Arceus. Im not even thinking about getting Elden Ring yet. Loads to play but atleast not much coming out now for a while but saying that Weird West just came out lol
@Hootnoodle get well soon. At least you have plenty stuff to entertain yourself with whilst your stuck inside.
@Nf157 I don't know much about it beyond it's supposedly the last "proper" game in the series (whatever that means) and that the recreation of Paris is meant to be incredible. If I only get a few hours entertainment out of it this evening then it's three quid well spent but honestly I've bounced off everything I've tried since "Elden Ring" so I expect much the same thing with this.
The Vanishing drew me back into FC6 and I'm going to chop through it now. Ok; she's silly but too pretty to ignore
@LN78 it's one of the last 'proper' games in the sense that almost every other game after that became a massive open world RPG (very similar to the Witcher 3). I personally prefer the older style but a lot of people would say otherwise.
It's recreation of Paris is something special, especially the buildings which for the first time in the series where all made to scale with the real ones. Gives it all a sense of scale that works well with its parkour. You'll definitely get your 3 quids worth 👍
I finally have a PC that can properly run "Anno 1800". So that will be my main endeavor. My dumb console-action-gamer-brain isn't used to such cognitive demanding strategy-titles anymore and I have a hard time to even process all the information on screen. But I'm quite motivated and enjoy the change in program.
I counter that with "Guardians of the Galaxy", which is exactly the stuff I normally play.
GT7, I'll be grinding the Trial Mountain Cup in my Tomahawk, with some Pan American Championship thrown in , and maybe the odd 4 chilli event, I can't remember if I have any left to win.
Nioh 2 with all the dlcs.borderlands handsome collection.manhunt.and the witcher 3 complete edition.watching dont breathe 2.watching classic sitcom comedy whats happening.good times.sanford and sons.the Jeffersons.saved by the bell.and martin.word up son
@Tsushima If you like strategy role playing you should enjoy this.Plays like Final Fantasy Tactics and has about 4 different endings depending on what paths you take.
Got to confess there is a lot of dialogue in the game and to begin with I was unsure I was going to enjoy it as it seemed a while before I even got to the first battle.Glad I stuck with it though as I'm hooked!
On PS5, I'm still on GT7 and will be for a loooong time to come.
On Switch: Mario and Rabbids.
Gotta say, the Switch is so refreshing in terms of what it offers, both sofware and hardware wise. I haven't had this much fun with a console for a long time. It's also my first ever handheld and I'm glad I got it.
Grinding millions doing solo runs of the Perico heist in GTA Online, chillin' at the cafe in GT7 and checking out Weird West.
Ghostwire tokyo and Ghost of Tsushima. On my Xbox I'm playing tiny Tina. Ghostwire Tokyo is another one of those you love it or hate it games, I'm absolutely loving it. The whole Japanese mythology atmosphere is pretty awesome
MONSTER HUNTER RISE MONSTER HUNTER RISE MONSTER HUNTER RISE MONSTER HUNTER RISE- I decided to start going for the achievements for this game seriously since I'm officially in endgame and am happy with my build. The big achievement is something Monster Hunter World platinum owners know all too well, getting the mini and gold crowns for each monster. They are basically a super large or small version of a monster and is pretty much the Monster Hunter version of shiny hunting in Pokemon. Needless to say my playtime went from 110 hours to 140 hours in a blink of they eye. I'm committing Monster Genocide because the game just won't give me the size I need, RIP the 62 Great Izuchis I had to kill to get the mini crown, I've probably wiped out several forest worths of friendly Yogi Bear Arzuros to find the one who ate the most honey and have now culled enough Royal Ludroth to give me a lifetime supply of sponges, pretty fun tho 🤣🤣🤣
I also bought a few indie games for my collection on steam being:
Death's Door- Sure many people have played this already but to the people who don't know, it's a zelda-like with an aesthetic that is just pleasing to look at. The word I'd use to describe the artstyle would be "clean". About 2 hours in and I'm starting to unlock new weapons and abilities at a steady pace, the combat is simple yet satisfying. I'm going to aim to beat this by the end of next week, maybe take some extra time trying to find all collectibles.
The Messenger- This is the 3rd time I've bought it and THIS IS THE TIME I BEAT IT, but seriously, I don't know why I keep putting this game down after about 3 hours of play, there's nothing I dislike about this game and the soundtrack is astounding and actually stays in my head, something very few games achieve.
Katana Zero- Played it on gamepass once, then decided I'd wait to play it once I inevitably buy it, so that's the situation with this game.
The Talos Principle- Heard good things about this, hopefully it's easier than the witness in the sense that it gives you all the ingredients you need in each room to solve a puzzle, something I didn't enjoy about The Witness and made me stop playing that. I prefer puzzle games to show me the parameters for solving a puzzle over something where you have to search for the key in the environment, making me feel dumb because I happened to not walk past the rule for a new type of puzzle.
Anyways thanks for reading my overly long response for this week, I think it will now become a weekly thing for me as I have no one to vent about gaming in my personal life, so thanks for wasting your time suckas and have a good weekend/next week 😘
As always Skyrim VR, probably another Hitman 3 level and in between maybe Battlefield 2042.
@Lavalera Agree on Ghostwire some will love it others not so much can see why mixed reviews. For me it's great and played 15 hours so far
Still HFW & ER. What's been hampering my enjoyment is not bugs or framerates and whatnot people cry about with just about every game but FACKIN STICK DRIFT! Dunno why people aren't channeling their rage to these stick drift issues bugging every controller out there, instead they cry over some BS bugs that can be fixed easy or MTX that's isn't mandatory.
Sonic Mania on PS5 as it’s ace
Getting Ghostwire Tokyo today, so I'll finally get to try it out.
I'm in love with my PS5, so, it's Horizon Forbidden West, Cyberpunk 2077 and some Assassin's Creed III (season 6 of Outlander with the Revolutionary War theme draws me in). Huge worlds to dive into!!
Finishing off my platinum for HFW then I'm reaching into my backlog to play Life is Strange True Colors before Ghostwire Tokyo. There will be some GT7 thrown in there too for good measure.
@Neilytee I played more than that and only caught one small bug. The game is great, I'm happy I waited for the PS5 version!!
I shall be continuing with Horizon Forbidden West. Going to try and start clearing my backlog by playing through one game at a time.
Trying to wrap up FW storyline and some cauldrons. Then finally resuming my Elden Ring playthrough while mixing GT7 and maybe giving GG Strive a go. I haven’t touched that fighter since Jack-O released and I’d like to get back in the groove with matches here and there.
@Constable_What I just got GG: Strive last weekend! What a fighting game, I'm new to the series and it's been a blast. I've been drawn to Milia Rage as a "main", love her moveset and theme song!
Who do you like?
@GorosBat Katana Zero is amazing. Shame it never came to PS. Deaths Door is also very very good. Messenger I think might be one of the best out there though. Twists and turns it takes later on are fun for reasons I won’t spoil here.
Horizon Forbidden West. Like I'd be playing anything else still.
@TraCuz- Millia is fantastic. I’m a Gio and Ino main much to the disdain of many lol.
@LN78 I will play the entire series (minus AC1 for now, that is locked in PS3 gen). I'm in AC III now (love that one) and eager to reach Unity too!!!
@weR1youR2Podcast Oh nice I see you like the Rushdown characters! Giovanna was a close 1st pick for me, just from her character design alone, super cool looking. I've also had some decent matches with Chip. Sol seems pretty strong, so I might try him. I'll tell you what though, I do not like Ky.
It's been interesting getting the hang of the controls, and trying not to button mash. But already even this early on, I think it might end up one of my favorite fighting games. Up there with MvC2, DOA5, or MK11.
@Hootnoodle Hopefully “the C” isn’t Chlamydia. 😅
Helping my mate set up his PS5 today then starting Ghost of Tsushima! Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Enjoying The Last of Us Part II still. Still loving the game immensely. The gameplay evolves at a nice clip for me, and for some reason I really enjoy searching and exploring every little nook and cranny. It’s a beautiful game.
Ghostwire Kirby New Pokèmon Snap and I'll probably finish the day with Shadow of Mordor on Xbox Series X.
Kirby and TFL, it's better than I thought it would be, it's pretty creative with fun moments but also can be boring in segments, err I mean has areas designed for casual exploration... yea.
Gotten tired of Elden Ring, nothing really its fault, I just don't really appreciate open-world games. So I got Ghostwire (I know it's kind of open but it's small scale) and while I don't like the feel of the movement and combat, the game's visually great and the Japanese paranormal theme and atmosphere is awesome.
Back to King of Fighters 15 and Persona 4 Arena.
I back to Genshin Impact. They finally added the Chasm and it one of the coolest areas in the game. Which is good because I'm going to be spending a lot if time there farming for the upcoming characters.
@TraCuz- it is a fantastic game. Sol is a love/hate for most players. He’s an easy win and shunned by the community in tourney play a lot, but not unbeatable. I like Ky only after watching a pro player main him and really show his potential. It’s a fantastic game and easily accessible but hard to master. I hope you get many hours of enjoyment out of it as I’ve stuck quite a bit of time into it and keep coming back for more.
I started a new God of War 2018 playthrough to prep for Ragnarok and finally get the platinum for it, so that will be my weekend game while I wait for LEGO Star Wars.
Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition. Been really getting into it. Trying to finish the games before Xenoblade Chronicles 3 comes out in September.
Rayman Origins (Vita) - Almost done with Jibberish Jungle.
Mahjong by Microsoft (Android) - Just dailies and challenge packs levels.
ExZeus 2 (Windows Phone) - The leaderboard isn't uploading anymore, but I'm still trying for high scores anyways.
I finally beat Elden Ring after 120 hours. I have all of the trophies aside from two different endings - and I was stupid enough to not create a backup save. I want to go back to get the Platinum in NG+, and I know it won’t take that long, but I just want to play something different for a while.
So, I’m now playing Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. It’s hard playing a game with the depth, scope, and player agency as Elden Ring, but this game is pretty fun for what it is. I enjoy the linearity of the game and the onslaught of goofy dialogue. Some people find it exhausting but I find it charming.
I’m also going to finally start Tunic on my Series X. I wanted to start this game a week or so ago, but I couldn’t bring myself away from Elden Ring. Now that I’ve completed that game, I will finally jump into this game.
More Elden Ring on PS4 and I might try to complete Tormented Souls, and still working through Deathtrap Dungeon trilogy on Switch, which is good nostalgic fun as I grew up with the Fighting Fantasy books. Also finally picked up Starlink on Switch as was on sale for about £12, I'm really impressed with the scope of the game and fun to play as Star Fox, even if the image quality on the Lite a bit soft.
Some more GT7: just finished all menu books and had a real blast with that. Going for the gold cup in all license tests now, and it's going quite well. I suck at the rally ones, though...
I'll probably throw in some Horizon in as well.
Still playing elden ring and i'm near the end game i think (dont want to say where i am in case it spoils it for anybody.) I know i can save to get the different endings but i feel a game this good deserves the effort and my time to go through it all multiple times and it dosnt look as if there is anything releasing anytime soon that will equal this in terms of value for money..also have the ascent waiting in the wings here which i've played around with and that made me feel like i was cheating on the wife with some low rent lady of disrepute...any how have a good weekend everybody..
Doing lots of post-campaign stuff in Horizon Forbidden West. Love getting lost in the game now, and without the pressure to complete the campaign I can just explore, grind for better gear/upgrades and do side quests.
Got The Ascent and about 6 hours in so far. I am not sure twin stick shooters are my thing, and there are some quality of life tweaks that could be made, but my goodness, this game looks, plays and sounds amazing. I am constantly stunned at the rich detail of the world, the colors, the little touches. The gameplay is crunchy, atmospheric and sounds amazing.
I am so used to open worlds that the isometric view feels restrictive, but I keep coming back for the stream of loot, discovery and glorious visuals. For a small team they really knocked it out of the park.
Other than that I am excited Weird West is out, I caught some developer videos past few months and it looks great. Probably give that a try soon. Is anyone playing it? Thoughts?
I played some guardians of the galaxy, it looks amazing and very different to the two other games I'm playing, elden ring and tunic. I'm in a bit of a lull with elden ring, though I got a cool magical katanna I need a couple more int points to try out. Tunic is amazing, I'm constantly surprised about how much they have hidden in plain sight, so man secrets in terms of areas, loot and mechanics.
Started Elden Ring last night after getting the Horizon platinum last weekend. I can already see what all the fuss is about, although whether it turns out to be my kind of game remains to be seen, typically I steer clear of Souls games as I lack the patience required!
@TraCuz- I actually love Millia too! Her combos and pressure make me feel like I'm actually good at the game sometimes. Lol
I play May and Giovanna as well for different matchups. Really enjoy them too.
Horizon Forbidden West for me. I am 35 hours in but feel like i have only scratched the surface of the campaign so far. I am enjoying exploring and doing the side missions as i encounter them
@Th3solution The exploration is one of the best aspects of The Last games, I always search everything!!
Just bought marvel guardians of the galaxy and so will start that and probably a little bit of sponge bob with my son.
issue 420? Nice/
@freddquadros I am the same way with Uncharted. Naughty Dog’s environments are so beautiful and their art design makes for enjoyable exploration.
Elden Ring, and MLB the show 22
DNF Duel, the first few matches were brutal as no training mode or command list and the buttons are pretty different from other fighting games, its like a cross between guilty gear strive and smash bros once I figured that out I got sweet sweet revenge on the guy who beat me five games in a row with a nice 28-11 final score. My aching thumbs are very satisfied.
Playing assassin's creed syndicate, project cars2 and wrc9 on me trusty old PS4.... Out of curiosity has any one played the jack the ripper dlc for syndicate? Is it worth getting? 🤘
@Rob_230 Only about 100 or so hours to go if you play it like me 😉
Didn't use fast travel once and still not tempted to use it even after credits rolled and platinum achieved, enjoy the journey. It's a hell of a game!
Elden ring... Elden ring and elden ring. Probably the best gaming experience I ever had.
@LittleToyTitan I know I can’t get gold on the licenses so settling for all bronze. Absolutely despise the rally car dirt tire stuff was so happy to be rid of it when I passed the Super License S5. Good luck!
I've been bouncing back and forth between Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Triangle Strategy, Pokemon Legends: Arceus, and Banjo-Kazooie on NSO.
So many games, so little time.
MLB the Show 22 and Mass Effect for me.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land has been consuming my life since I got my copy last Saturday...nothing else matters.
I'll eventually return to playing PS4/PS5 games after I beat Kirby and Super Mario Odyssey...
Though I might take a break to play LEGO Star Wars when it drops, assuming I still buy it day one.
Cyberpunk 2077. Very impressed with the series X version so far. I tried it when it was first released and asked for a refund, but now it does look like a complete game, and a very well done at that.
Before that, I tried Elden Ring, but it is not for me. And one week ago I completed Forbidden’s West main sorry and most side quest. Loved it!
Grinding Anima Crystals in Stranger Of Paradise to get the platinum trophy. I'm probably like 1-2 hours away.
As often, the trophy list is fine except that one trophy that's just a lot of meaningless grind.
Edit: I severely underestimated my grinding tempo. It's done
@whitejessegpfc Thanks! Getting a few gold ones every day, but some are much harder than others. I don't know what I'm doing wrong with the rally ones, though. I really can't figure it out. Even silver cups seem impossible with the way I approach these license tests. Hmmm...
I probably am boring people with the same thing over and over....but to each his own I say. Gran Turismo 4 for PS2; God of War for PS2, and Diablo II Resurrected (PS4). I finally finished Resistance (PS3) again last week, the weather was ok here, so I spent a good deal of the weekend on my bike. Oh, and in the end I tried Battle for Bikini bottom....
@Th3solution YES!! Another series I explore every nook and cranny!!
@lolwhatno they are related to a certain level, but you can jump into Resistance 3 without the fear of losing something from the story. A lot of people think (and I don't blame them) that 1&2 are dull, colourless and prefer to play the last one (3). But I like them all with their flaws and cons.
P.s. I do believe that R3 is on PS Now and you can give it a try if you want (and have PSNow).
@lolwhatno no problem. Don't worry about it. Hope you find the game, I don't know that one....
