Wow, this has been a crazy week! We got amazing footage from Resident Evil 4, a remake of Silent Hill 2 was announced, and we've even published a preview of God of War Ragnarok. It's safe to say that PS5 is flying at the moment. Here's what we're playing this weekend.
Sammy Barker, Editor
I can confirm I'm playing God of War Ragnarok! I obviously can't elaborate much further, but you can read my Hands On for more.
Liam Croft, Assistant Editor
I'll be digging into the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 campaign this weekend for my review, and I also want to finish off a few of the optional case files I didn't get around to in Gotham Knights.
Aaron Bayne, Video Editor
I'll be polishing off the remnants of Gotham Knights this weekend, and potentially replaying its surprisingly good story with another mate.
Annette Magana, Reviewer
Silent Hill! Resident Evil! Halloween starts next weekend but I have been getting ahead of it since the start of the month. It's time to continue my RE marathon and start Resident Evil VII for the first time. Then revisit some good ol' Silent Hill 2.
There are tons of great games this week, but whether you're tucking into something new, or replaying an old favourite, be sure to let us know in the comments section below.

It is time ... finally I am starting Elden Ring after my odyssey through the DS trilogy and Bloodborne!
Just few hours in and it is ... glorious!!!
Final Fantasy XIV, gonna start the Relic Quests and the Variant Dungeons ✨
Playing trew final fantasy VIII again
I continue going through PS Plus Extra/Premium and I’m loving it so far! Just finished my return to Arkham City and probably will be playing either Metro Exodus or Heavy Rain this weekend.
I’m playing a lot this weekend. I’m going to dip in and out of A Plague Tale: Requiem, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, New Tales from the Borderlands and Overwatch 2. I also have Gotham Knights to play, but I’m probably not going to get a chance to play it co-op this weekend.
Having now got my platinum on The Ascent I'm now clearing up the trophies for Arcade Paradise with a bit of GT7 on the side.
For me, it’s Modern Warfare 2 Campaign, The Last Of Us Part I and as always The Elder Scrolls Online
Potionomics: This game is quite literally the Dark Souls of potion maker/ time manager/ dating sims! The graphics are gorgeous and the animations in this game are the real standout. The game came out on steam on Monday and I’ve already poured 35 hours into it, this game is just so addictive. I highly recommend it to anyone who’s always wanted to become a merchant in a video game, did I also mention that when you barter for selling your potions for a higher price that you play a card based game where you gain new cards through strengthening your bonds with other characters, this game has everything!
I'm playing the "Rondo of Blood" portion of "Castlevania Requiem" and it's kicking my butt. Brilliant game.
I’ll mostly be playing A Plague Tale Requiem but just about to give the free trial of F1 22 a go. I’ll see what sort of time I can achieve in Austin before the real thing later today.
@Zuljaras
Elden Ring is my GOTY.
I’m mainly playing A plague tale - Requiem. 30 fps takes some getting used to but the game looks great, I really like the setting, story and gameplay so overall a great game imo.
I haven't played a huge amount this last month or so. Dragging out the PS3 has seen me dive into the MGS Collection with Snake Eater - which is very good. I shall probably continue with that this weekend.
I don't know if I'll get near my PS5 this weekend because 1) my son is obsessed with his first FF VII Remake playthrough and 2) Football Manager 23's beta is now live and it's the ultimate time sink!
But if I do, Tales of Arise and Toem - which I should have started last weekend, but finishing off the AC Origins plat got in the way.
40hrs in on MH World 2nd run. I feel like I wanna craft every armor, I'm enjoying it a whole lot more on this 2nd run because I'm experienced now. There's just so much depth to this game, I've found a whole heap of new stuff like I didn't know I could capture the endemic life and use them as pets, thought it was only the fish in the aquarium. The hype is justified, MH World is a lovely game. Just maybe I'll play some other games on the side.
Might not be popular around here lol. But I've been playing a lot of the Marvel Snap mobile game. It's such a fun card game without the bloat or unnecessary complexity that the genre usually has.
This weekend I’m playing A Plague Tale: Requiem on Xbox Series X. I’m not that far into the game due to work and family obligations, but I have reached the fourth chapter and I’m loving the game. There are several situations within Chapter 3 that have been the most powerful moments I’ve ever experienced in a video game before. It’s exciting to know that narratively speaking, I’m more than likely going to have more of those moments.
All of this is fueled even further due to Amicia’s voice actress, Charlotte McBurney. She deserves tons of praise for her impeccable work. Her performance is so intense - you can feel her emotions in every word she utters. I haven’t been in awe in a video game of this nature — narrative, character development, and study of human emotion — since The Last of Us (2013).
My only genuine complaint about A Plague Tale: Requiem is that, while a linear experience, the way the game is structured prohibits exploration for collectibles throughout the several open paths you can veer off to in order to complete your objective. Your movement is limited because of the rats, human interactions, and how easily you can be spotted, even during the stealth moments. This can lead to several frustrating moments, fearing that I’m missing out on a large chunk of rewarding exploration. It’s almost as if the game forces you not to explore your surroundings.
Regardless of my one main gripe with the game, it’s still a must play title. I can’t wait to continue the story and see where it takes me. It should be a fun, albeit brutal and emotional journey.
Nioh 2 with all the dlcs.im almost at the end.im at level 100.and playing some side mission.what a game nioh 2.much respect. @Sable just a couple of hours in but I can feel the GotY award already
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed and A Plague Tale: Requiem… and that’ll be that for the next 2-3 weeks, outside that very special RE DLC incoming!
Gotham Knights and No Man's Sky for me, maybe a bit of Yugioh Master Duel later when the new daily challenges drop.
Modern Warfare 2 Campaign but PS5 version keeps crashing. I had to resort to Playing the PS4 version.
I'm just five trophies short of the platium in Valkyrie Elysium so I'll be working on that.
I just need 3 more trophies to reach Level 3 in PS Stars too.
Gonna make a start on Overwatch 2 now I've got a bit of time on my hands ! Cant wait
Also trying to plat Tiny Tina's Assault On Dragon Keep ..the best DLC ever ? I reckon so
Also playing WRC 10 and more Deathloop speedruns - I can't stress how much i love this game
Have a great weekend guys and gals ❤
Assassins Creed: Black Flag! Just lovin my holiday in the Caribbean!
Plague Tale Requiem which is excellent and makes the wait for God Of War Ragnarok not so bad. Im also playing Neon White on Switch
Smashed the god of war plat! Now onto Uncharted legacy of thieves plat. 101 trophies should keep me busy until Ragnarok.
@Adol_Xin I love that game! Would really like a current gen patch/remaster/remake so I get a good reason to play it again
I'll be starting A Plague Tale: Requiem, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks Of Hope, with a bit of Top Gear on the snes as well.
Have a good weekend all!
Climbing the Infernal castle in Trails of Cold Steel 2. Hopefully get that finished this weekend then I can play some smaller games until GoWR.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Got to be more Death Stranding
I'm having a whale of a time
And maybe some Uncharted 3
Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Really loving it.
On my ps5 it's Gotham Knights. I'm enjoying it thus far. Sure it isn't game of the year material but also isn't as bad as some people make it out to be. It's an enjoyable game. Also playing a bit of Atelier ryza here and there if I want something a bit more relaxing
On my Xbox it's a plague tale requiem. What a game... It's sometime hard to imagine this is just a Aa game. It looks absolutely stunning, the sound is very good and the gameplay is divers enough to make it very good. The 30 fps isn't noticeable at all in this game not even on action scenes. If the rest of the game is as good as this first part it might end up being my game of the year
@Kairu thanks for that shout out on the Ghostbusters game. Missed it while browsing the sale, Ill pick it up for the backlog hehe
I’m going to finish my Normal playthrough of Megadimension Neptuinia VII then start on the True Ending / Plat playthrough.
@BearsEatBeets was going to try the F1 trial as well but alas it's EA so of course when it's free you get "Cant connect to EA servers error message"
Asscreed Valhalla and yakuza 5 on the 5, Along with halo infinite enemies and left 4 dead on xbsx
After being away in L.A for 2 weeks I shall be catching up with my very poor F1 Manager 22 career this weekend. Looking forward to getting back into it even though I still don't quite know what I'm doing. I was going to buy Gotham Knights but that will have to wait until payday and I hope I don't run into any spoilers as I am looking forward to it.
Currently playing Deathloop and having a blast with it.
I’m on the final chapter of Ys 9 Monstrum Nox. Hoping I can finish it on Sunday. The Medium will probably be the next game I play.
Just went out and picked up Gotham Knights, so will be playing that. Started The Medium a couple of days ago, will look to finish it this weekend.
Maybe I'll finally go on with Ghostwire Tokyo.
I'm thinking about starting Assassin's Creed Chronicles India. Already reinstaled my PS4 for the 3 AC Games. Yesterday I played a lot of the very good AC Unity, more is on the way. I believe I will continue Nioh too, it's been more than a week since last time. Ys VIII keep calling me, it is good and addicting as I expected!! Too many games, so little time!!
I’m about halfway through A Plague Tale: Requiem - a brilliant sequel to the excellent original game. I think I still prefer the original game (so far) but Requiem is still very good.
@Gloamin how short is the campaign? I am tempted!
Far Cry 6. It hasn't really clicked with me yet, but I'll keep at it and hope it does over the weekend.
Someone mentioned Vampire the Masquerade - Bloodlines so I'm taking a break from AC: Valhalla to play that again. The 00's jank is real, but it's just such a good game with such a well realised world and characters, I don't think there's much that comes close, let alone doing things better, and I really hope the sequel delivers whenever it resurfaces (I was going to say when it sees the light of day, but let's not)
Just (finally) started RE2 Remake to get into the holiday spirit, and will probably play Darkwood on PC for the same reason (super spooky game, def try it if you can). Want to also revisit Scathe for a bit after the latest patch seems to have fixed some of the issues I had when I reviewed it for SUPERJUMP. Cheers everyone!
On PS5 i will be playing Atelier Sophie 2 and Diofield Chronicle.
On switch I will be playing Mario and Rabbids sparks of hope and Xenoblade chronicles 3.
And on Series S it's Life is strange true colors and Beacon pines.
Alvo just received a new update with a new map, Highrise. I'll be playing that for sure! Maybe also some RE7 in VR and/or Skyrim VR.
@PenguinLtd which boss you stuck on?
@Zuljaras it’s an incredible game. Enjoy.
A blind play through of RE village(finally) and finishing off the platinum for Grim Fandango.
I finally finished Soul Hackers 2 this week. By the time I saw the ending (not the true ending, though I watched that on YouTube) I'd settled that on a solid 6/10 for the game. It's SMT so there are lots of great elements, but there's just so much holding the game back. I like the characters, the music is good even if the track list is too short, but those dungeons are just absolutely terrible. What makes it even worse is that the final dungeon actually breaks away from the simplistic grid layout of all of the others, has its own music and an interesting setting. I guess they just didn't have the budget to apply that to the rest of the game. I'm glad I saw it through but I'll happily never play it again.
Not really sure what's up next on PS5 for me. I have a few games in the backlog I'd like to start/finish. I still have TLOU Part 1 to continue, but I'm pretty sure 30% or so in that game isn't for me. I might start RE7 instead. Is the PS5 version worth picking up or is it essentially indistinguishable from the PS4 version?
(Reading this back, I think we were really spoiled by Elden Ring, HFW and Xenoblade 3 this year - everything else seems lacklustre by comparison!)
@PenguinLtd Outside of the secret boss, Pontiff Sylyvahn is the hardest in the game I find!
I'm having a lot of fun playing Cult of the Lamb.
Happy to see so many playing Gotham Knights. I’ll be doing the same as well as…..
Playing some closed tests for two games I’ve been NDA’d on as well. However, been enjoying the one a lot and excited to dive into the other this weekend.
Lastly Triangle Strategy on Switch and Valkyrie Elysium when I’m not in Gotham.
I'm absolutely loving Plague Tale Requiem at the moment! I'm on chapter 8 and...wow this game has just gotten better and better the further I get into it! Watch out Naughty Dog! Asobo is coming for your crown!😄
Grinding gears and coins for the Hot Wheels Unleashed platinum. Absolutely destroyed all the single player content so much fun. Very tempted for its expansion Batman and Loony Tunes but seems a little pricey right now
@PenguinLtd The only boss that gave me big trouble was the Twin Princes. How I hated that fight at the end!!!
I only recently discovered the Vaporum games, and as a fan of first person, grid based dungeon crawlers, really enjoying the first game so far. Also replaying 2009's Ghostbusters: the Video Game... first played back on PS3.
What I AM doing is playing Circus Electrique, which is surprisingly good. If you liked Darkest Dungeon, do yourself a favor and try this one.
What I WANT to be doing is playing GOWRR like Mr. Barker is doing. November is so close, yet so far away……….
Gotham Knights for me this weekend!
@Zuljaras hats off to your resilience and getting through...i got to ask though, did you include Seikiro and Demon Souls in your marathon?
@AdamNovice The only thing that should be “popular” around here is people enjoying whatever game they are spending time with! The rest doesn’t really matter.
I don’t usually play mobile games-I am old, and the fact I am even writing this on a phone instead of using a carrier pigeon is a miracle. But I have a couple of good friends who are really into Marvel Snap. Sounds cool.
I’m playing Gotham Knights w/ my son and we’re both having a blast with it. Is it as bad as some places have reviewed it ( 4 or 5 out of 10) ? HELL NO. Not even close. Could it be better in some regards? Sure - how many new release’s couldn’t? And is 30fps an issue? Not that I’ve seen or noticed this far. That all said, if you have any interest in the game, definitely give it a shot at some point.
I need to dig out a game I have on my backlog for PS4. Maybe I’ll start on that Resident Evil 3 remake.
Just starting a new game plus of A Plague Tale: Requiem. Probably the best looking game I've played this gen.
@ThorsHammer Sekiro no for now as I dislike the setting. And unfortunately as much as I want to play Demon's Souls I do not own a PS5
@InvaderJim I got it downloaded last night so I've had a quick go. EA and it's terms and conditions though, I wasn't sure if I was starting a game or asking for a bank loan.
@Zuljaras fair enough. Sekiro is worth a spin, as it flips the script on the gameplay and makes for unique take. Demon Souls might be weird to go to after playing all the others as its a bit more basic...me personally i loved returning to it, but i also have big nostalgia. Anyhow, hope you dig Elden Ring, i still have yet to play it but heard its the best.
Gran Turismo 7: preparing my gr3 and gr4 cars for the upcoming Push Square manufacturers championship in November and having some fun with the current time trial event. Besides that I’ll try to finish Mafia definitive edition this weekend and start on Horizon Forbidden West.
I grabbed Gotham Knights off PSN last night. That will be most of my gaming time this weekend. Other than that its still GT7 with the new update, and more Ollie Ollie World if i need a change of pace. Have a great weekend!
Finally home 😊
1. The First Descendant (Got into the Beta test on PC)
2. Gotham Knights (PS5)
Finished ASTERIGOS. Great little game. These are the "indies" I am happy to support.
Looking for a horror themed game for Halloween, but I didn’t want to spend the money on A Plague Tale with GoW so close, so I downloaded The Medium from Extra. It is much more enjoyable than I expected from reading the general comments here. Very atmospheric, quality voice acting, and I quite like the fixed camera as I am an old school horror fan. It’s much better than Tormented Souls, which is another similar, modern horror throwback on PS4 and PS5. And the soundtrack is excellent. Really adds to the tension. I cannot wait to jump back in, although I will probably wait until it gets dark. Bloober Team gets too much criticism. I think the Silent Hill 2 remake is in good hands.
Decided to return to Drive Club this afternoon. Such a superb racing game with a nice balance between arcade and sim. Looks lovely too.
All the Persona talk has got me in the mood. I never replay games but I’ve started Persona 4 Golden on Steam Deck when my original playthrough was on Vita. I’ve got through the 3 hour opening now so the real game starts.
I’ve opted for 4 as I played Persona 5 more recently and I love 3, 4 and 5 all for different reasons. Each could be my favourite on any given day.
I'm supposed to be playing A Plague's Tale Requiem, but I foolishly decided to replay Dying Light 2 the day before A Plagues Tale Requiem released, and have been playing Dying Light 2 since, it seems quite a few of my issues with Dying Light 2 have since been patched, making Dying Light 2 a far greater experience than I first gave it credit.
Playing Deathloop this weekend.
Really great setting and aesthetic and am enjoying powering up, collecting weapons and slab upgrades and working towards the perfect loop.
@PenguinLtd Oh man he is a rough one!! So annoying when he spawns that extra clone of himself, but he is easily one of my top 3 bosses in that game. Grats on the clear!
Side note: Isn't Irithyll one of the best looking zones you've seen in a game??
So far today I've been on Astrobot, Matrix tech demo and Horizon Forbidden West as I got my PS5 this morning. A very unexpected birthday present from the wife (did ask for a Ferrari) but an incredible and welcome surprise regardless. Thoroughly enjoying the new controller and hope other games utilise it as well as Astrobot going forward. F1 (the real thing) tonight whilst everything else downloads ready for tomorrow.
@Westernwolf4 I hear you, but you know what some are like...they see a mobile game and go all "burn it with fire".
Yeah I'm really enjoying it, I didn't mind paying for the battle pass because it doesn't feel grindy.
Gotham Knights and Arkham Knight(because it’s spooky season, and I always play it during spooky season)
Cracking on with Horizon Forbidden West
PS4 PRO Vice City definitive from Plus. Wow does it look good with smooth frames. Good graphics options too.
Some cons: car windows looking like cellophane, spawn issues during rampages, ***** cops and civilians running around like their pants are on fire. Ambulance driving and cops running in circles. Still drowning of course.
Some Pros: still fun after all these years, Human League doing Facination, Diaz's car still the same, no load between islands, and cheats still work. The updated camera/movement makes play so much more enjoyable.
Continuing my Dark Souls III playthrough. Laying my summon sign down in the Grand Archives for some easy levelling.
Also started AC Odyssey on PS Plus and enjoying it so far.
God of war 3 remastered
The Walking Dead: The Complete First Season (Windows Store) - I'm done with the main campaign now I'm onto the 400 Days add-on.
Panzer Geekz (Windows Phone) - Finally getting back to this after a nearly week long break.
Temple Run 2 (Windows Phone) - I feel I've hit the glass ceiling with this one. Might move onto another game now and remove this from the phone.
D4 beta. Very good, so far.
Replaying Horizon FW on new game plus. Crazy how much I forgot since beating it in early March.
Playing Ghostwire Tokyo and Shadow of the Colossus. Both amazing games. Shadow of the Colossus remake looks so good!
Arkham city , plague innocence and a bit of Gotham knights - loving it so far , can't wait to get back to it after break due to short holidays.
Grounded, but that’s only on XB…(should I be allowed to post this here, lol)… (I have ps4 & ps5 too - best of both worlds)
Finished the Last of Us, did the Left Behind dlc, will be experimenting with Roller Coaster Tycoon today
On PS5- taking it easy and just playing a bit of online co-op Returnal… still love this game and enjoying helping out others, especially those that are struggling with early game
On Switch- Return to Monkey Island - beat the game this weekend after approx 11-12 hours of play.
I’d ultimately recommend to anyone that enjoys the genre, or has familiarity with the older games in the series (and presumably had fun playing these games).
A fun romp and a nice change of pace from more action-orientated games, nice to actually use my brain for once… and fortunately most of the puzzles are solved through cerebral rationalities - instead of obtuse/random solutions.
My only critique would be it’s a little on the easy side… and only really ‘hits its stride’ in Act IV (total of 5 acts in the game).
Act IV has a lot of moving parts, location variety, and ramps up the challenge…. And it is a real shame that all the acts don’t follow this blueprint!
I set out to avoid using the in-game hint system …. But let myself down and had to utilise the hint book for the very last puzzle in Act V (in fairness I was totally barking up the wrong tree in my solution/tactics… probably would have had me stuck for a few days!)
Overall I’d give it a solid 7/10, and maybe 8/10 if you are a huge fan of the genre.
I pld mostly A Plague Tale: Requiem, I'm in chapter XI, but seriously need a break now... So I dusted off Titanfall 2, love that game
@BearsEatBeets insane how much text they got in there, takes longer to go through than downloading the game
I’ll be simultaneously trying to platinum three games: Ghost of Tsushima (PS5), Returnal (extremely close to the platinum) and inFamous (PS3). Shouldn’t be too bad to do.
Kena Bridge of Spirits. Corrupted Taro gave me lots of trouble...
F1 22 demo with my kid.
@Sammy Barker
Playing GoW: R huh ... just rub it in why don't you ^_^
Can't wait to dive right in myself come 9th of November.
Playing A Plague Tale Requiem, close to finishing it actually. Very good game, I definitely recommend it!
