As we near Issue 500 of WAYP, a recurring feature that's now been running over ten years, it's probably worth noting how grateful we are for your comments every week. Want to know what this author was playing in Issue 1? Lumines on PS Vita! Apparently, I wasn't as fond of it in 2013!

After FINALLY completing the Horizon Forbidden West campaign, I’m moving on to Burning Shores. I’m all gassed up on Horizon at the moment, so I’m looking forward to see how it serves up the inevitable Horizon 3.
Jamie O'Neill
I like the reasoning that my money is better spent on a bargain modern retro game, when compared to buying a regular vanilla latte. Consequently, with 70% off the aptly named Coffee Crisis, this 2D brawler has to be worth a shot at £2.69 in PS Store's current Spring Sale.
John Hansen
After spending some time in Disney Speedstorm and Minecraft Legends this week, I'm giving the Crash Team Rumble beta a try. This series doesn't have the best reputation for making spinoff party games, but it appears to at least be more thought out than games like Crash Bash and Crash Boom Bang.
Khayl Adam
Dead Island 2 is finally here, and I'm diving in whole-hog. Playing as Jacob, going house-to-house and clearing zombies like it was 2011 again, I'm having a HELL-A of a time and will gladly spend the rest of the weekend doing the same.
Scott McCrae
I'm away this weekend so I'm probably not playing too much, but hopefully I'll be able to sneak in some Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp while I'm here.
Simon Fitzgerald
This weekend I’ll be heading back into Horizon Forbidden West to check out the Burning Shores. When not hunting down machines, I may get back out my PSVR2 headset for a bit of Moss Book II.
Stephen Tailby
I'm taking a much-needed break next week, but until then, I still have some unfinished business in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores. I've really enjoyed dipping back into this series! The main game was overshadowed massively last year, but the expansion has reminded me how much I liked it.
Another week where virtually everyone on the team is playing a different game, although there's a little crossover on the Horizon expansion, as you'd probably expect. What are you playing? Let us know in the comments section below.

I am continuing with StarCraft 64! It is so much fun! Next week I will get a N64 Memory Expansion Pack so I could play the Brood War missions
I also got Remnant From the Ashes and will try it
Never played the Uncharted Series so I might begin this journey as well
Happy gaming!!!
Closing in on 90 hours in 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫 𝟐.
I've just 2 more of the group's final chapters left to finish, then it's on to post game.
I think I'm going to take a shot at the platinum. It's going to need some mopping up of side quests, a bit of busy work, a bit of grinding and, of course, a super boss.
Will I preserve? Who knows? I'm not usually a trophy hunter but I'm not quite ready to say farewell to the world of Solistia.
I've really enjoyed my time with OT2. Challenging without being too frustrating. Great cast, mostly great stories. Fantastic music and beautiful visuals.
Hopefully I'll wrap it up, one way or another, over the next few days in time to get my teeth into something new over next week's Bank Holiday weekend here in the UK.
Enjoy your gaming and weekend everyone.
Moss, and if I finish that, moss 2. These games are both fun and adorable.
Also thinking about getting cult of the lamb while it’s on sale. But that is partially because I want the bobble head lol.
Burning Shores for me. I've only played an hour or two of it so far.
I might play some Breath of the Wild too. With Tears of the Kingdom on the way I'm getting my Zelda buzz going.
And I still have to start NG Plus in GoW Ragnarok.
Backlog:
@thefourfoldroot1 If you've not played Moss Books I or II before you have my envy.
I'd love to play both again for the first time.
I played Nexomon PS4 all day long. 🤠
I have reached Royalle City place, still leveling up my team at least level 50+.
Burning shores for me but I’ve forgotten everything about forbidden west so I’ve got the feeling I should do a new game plus to remember all the mechanics
@Shepherd_Tallon
I played the first a little on psvr1 but it was too blurry and made me feel a little sick. Really, really enjoying the first one now though without those issues. What a fantastic game!
I will be starting Ragnarok in the next few minutes. Happy gaming everyone!
Just hit High Rank in Monster Hunter Rise. Now the real hunting begins.
Been really surprised by Riders Republic… busy servers, lots of activities, good fun!
Uncharted 3 I finally decided to get back into it this week, and apart from never really liking the gunplay in the series overall, it is again proving to be a really great game. The sequence from the Market chase onwards is just phenomenal game design and I'm loving every minute, minus the few times I get stuck in an Uncharted death loop. Chapter after chapter of incredible set pieces and massive unique climbing frames always impresses 😄
Riders Republic it's kind of alright, it's a bit like steep but with horrible characters talking at me a bit too often. A few bike trick and snow events, and a few Trick Battles in those big arena's might be called for at times. It's a very shallow game, but it's fun, so it's easy to just play for a bit on PS Plus.
I might start Uncharted: Lost Legacy too, I don't think I will replay 4, unless my PS5 has access to my saves and chapter select so I can skip the start that I've seen too many times.
Immortals: Fenyx Rising I started this for one session in the week, and it's like a cartoony Assassin's Creed Odyssey/GoW. So I might play a bit of that
Finishing off my 100% completion run of the Witcher 3, I'm 185 hours in and have get all trophies and only have a few markers and a hand full of side quests left to complete. Blood and Wine expansion has been spectacular and really reminds me of the quality of the citadel DLC from Mass Effect 3 in terms of quality except that this just has so much more content! I'm glad I've finally got around to play the two DLC expansions from the Witcher 3, they're more light hearted and add new game mechanics that really elevate the RPG systems of an already deep game!
@thefourfoldroot1 It was definitely a little blurry on the first headset.
It's crystal clear for me on the new one thankfully.
But yes, it's such a fantastic little game with a very charming and disarming main character.
Quill was easily my favourite new character last gen.
I just finished Book II last weekend, but I'll say no more about it until you finish it for yourself.
Enjoy!
Burning Shores DLC as well as Trails to Azure, Advance Wars and Megaman BN 5 on the Switch
This week I continue to buy digital copies of games I own physically. Because i'm too lazy to swap discs and it's less wear and tear on the disc drive of my PS5. Since all of these games are on sale, I downloaded -
Bioshock The Collection
Dragon's Crown Pro
Dying Light Definitive Edition
Sniper Elite V2 Remastered
The Last of Us Part 2
Through The Woods
Unravel Yarney Bundle
All of those games for $50, not a bad deal.
After getting the Platinum on The Last Of Us Part 1 last year. I've been meaning to play Part 2 again (even though I have the Platinum in that also) so I started that last night. Other then that, on Switch I'm playing Bayonetta Origins. I ordered physical copies of Dead Island 2 & Fatal Frame Mask of the Luner Eclipse, but they won't arrive until Tuesday.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
@Zuljaras enjoy Uncharted 😁 it has its gameplay quirks, especially now we're in 2023, but stick through and you will get rewarded significantly
Trying to get through HFW so i can start Burning Shores also need to get back to Ni No Kuni 2 and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands if I've got time not really enjoying Tiny tina but I'll at least try and finish the story.
Currently playing Spider-Man before it disappears (about to start act 3). Finding the combat kinda irritating (reminds me a lot of the Rocksteady Batman games which I didn't particularly enjoy) but everything else is pretty cool. How different Vs more of the same is Miles Morales?
I’m still playing through Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee on the Switch and Tchia on the Ps5.
Also started working through the Mega Drive games on Nintendo Switch Online.
Beat Flicky, Golden Axe and Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine Yesterday and I’m currently playing Thunder Force II.
Finished first playthrough of RE4 after about 22 hours and 99 saves! Loved it, easily GOTY so far. Might do another quick play on it to get other trophies.
Finishing off my platinum runs for both Final Fantasy XV and Hogwarts Legacy, so i have a clear slate for the upcoming Jedi Survivor release!
On PS5 i have just started God of War Ragnarok and oh man I don't think I've ever played a game with a better first hour. I will also be playing some more Atelier Ryza 3 and Ghost of Tsushima DLC
On switch I will be continuing with Harvestella and will be starting Bayonetta Origins, I'm hoping to get these two done before Zelda comes out.
On xbox ive decided to drop Atomic Heart so I can focus on getting Ghostwire Tokyo done, it's a pretty decent game and via streaming im not really seeing any performance issues, I may also give Minecraft Legends a try as its giving me Pikmin vibes.
I’ve fallen into the dark depths of cosmic horror with Dredge and Sherlock Holmes: The awakened and I’m enjoying my time immensely. Granted I could be just stuck in my own madness, and slowly losing my sanity. 😂
First time on here in awhile as i damaged my right wrist ( stop it ) !
Finally finished Hogwarts Legacy a fun game, not great and the usual open world guff but charming with great combat
Also carrying on with Star Ocean The Divine Force - the best SO game in years !
And the best multiplayer I've been enjoying Halo Infinite ...superb stuff and loving the ranked matches.
Have a great weekend guys and gals ❤️
AC Valhalla is turning out to be one of my all time favourites. Just like how the game doesn't pinpoint everything, don't have to rely on no bird every time. Found me a shy fox and all kinds of pets who are happy to see me when I'm home, then we have a feast with the lads and I take Petra to bed. Gear isn't repetitive and littered all over, they're distinct and valuable to find. The graphics, animations, everything's on point. Aaannd I can say I'm at the end of GoT, beat the Khan and looking to start Iki Island, fantastic game ruined by enemies spawning everywhere like Far Cry 5, Jin never resting to past time, I mean if you can't put such a mechanic in an open world then it should be linear. Then it's the SF6 demo and probably try to beat Rom in Bloodborne.
Started Burning Shores last night, have done one main mission and one sidequest so far. Both superb, can't wait to play more later tonight!
Have a great weekend everyone.
Dead Island 2, baby! It’s pretty much what I was hoping for and I’m more than satisfied with what I’ve played so far. I bought a copy of the Hell-A Edition for both the PS4 and PS5, and plan to give the latter as a present to a mate who got me into the series since the PS4 version comes with a free upgrade. I will probably get a digital copy down the line when it’s on sale to further show my support. I’m so grateful this game exists after 10 years of development hell!
On Ps5 Dead Island 2 Horizon Burning Shores Dredge. On Series X Minecraft Legends. On PC Remnant From The Ashes DLC after beating the campaign
I was playing Horizon Forbidden West, at the beginning of the week, as I fell off playing awhile back so wanted to complete it and move onto burning shores, was really enjoying it but decided to take a break.
Only to finally have a go of power wash simulator.
Now I cant stop. So going to finish it and then get back to horizon.
Hadn't
Mainly the Burning Shores DLC. God I love this game. Looks and feels fantastic, like the story and characters too!
Burning shores for sure, while still working my way through RE4.
I’m still itching to get the FF Pixel Remasters because I’ve never played 1-6. However, I fear with kids I won’t have enough time to do them all. So the debate is a la carte a few or buy the whole lot to never finish.
Beyond those I really want to replay pieces some games I’ve already beat this year.
So much gaming so little time!
Burning Shores and I’m enjoying a lot more now after my initial disappointment. It is more of the same but I’m starting to get into the story of the dlc now and it’s pretty good.
Dead Island 2 I only played an hour or so last night but I liked it. I’ve already killed around 50 zombies and I do wonder if it might get a bit repetitive but I’m enjoying it for now.
Tomb Raider (2013) I started replaying this last week when I had nothing else to play and forgot how good it was. I got pretty far (to the beach area) and will probably finish the story over the weekend. Hope we get a new Tomb Raider game soon.
Finally finished Resi 4 mid week so in a but of a lull.
Giving Tails of Iron a try. So far so good. Love the art style. Looks brilliant.
Then got Kirby return to Dreamland deluxe on switch to play when kids stop hogging the switch lol
@ItsBritneyB_tch get mixed up with tomb raider and God of war reboot years? TR reboot was the amazing gaming year of 2013
I think I will start the day with 50 laps of Indianapolis on Grid.
Have a match or two on Efootball.
Complete a couple of levels on Sackboy.
Then back to hopefully progress with Deathloop.
Have a good weekend and happy gaming people.
Today is my birthday, so this weekend my me and my wife are going out of town for celebration. We have all sorts of activities lined up — all thanks to her wonderful planning. It’s safe to say I won’t be playing any video games.
Shockingly, I haven’t played anything in over a week because my new hobby is keeping me occupied. That said, if I do play anything it will be Final Fantasy Pixel Remastered Collection (or, primarily FFVI) on the Nintendo Switch, or Dead Island 2 on the Series X. I’ve put two hours into the latter and it’s been fun so far.
I have also been continuing my journey of collecting and reading graphic novels and comics. So far, I have read:
Batman: Year One // The Dark Knight Returns // Batman: The Long Halloween (one of the greatest pieces of fiction I’ve ever read) // Batman: Dark Victory // TMNT: The Last Ronin
Comics I’ve read this week include:
Wasp #1 // Bloodlines Daughter of Blade #1-3 // Clear #1-2 // Marvel’s Guardian of the Galaxy #1 (2023) // Superman Dawn of DC #1-3 // The Seasons Have Teeth #1 // TerrorWar #1 - and the reason I have that in bold is because it’s quite possibly my new favorite comic, and I’m patiently waiting for the second issue. It features an fun and fantastic premise, and I’m intrigued to see how it turns out because I think it has the potential to be real special.
Im still playing 2 of the best jrpgs ever in the amazing ni no kuni wrath of the white witch remastered. Oliver is one of the best protagonist ever. Aiding a convicted killer's sacrifice by nailing him to a cross and unravelling a mind control conspiracy for a future mayor in Cyberpunk 2077.
55 hours into the excellent Octopath Traveler 2, working on getting toward the end of everyone’s stories. @Ralizah got me thinking about XBC3 again, too, so I have been dipping my toe back into that. So many loose ends to tie up. I am thinking about getting the expansion just to tool around with the challenge battlers, even though I am unlikely to play the upcoming story content any time soon.
Thinking about loading up BOTW just to get used to the controls again, too.
It was holiday yesterday here, so I played a lot of Horizon FW Burning Shores (it's amazing) and Assassin's Creed Origins. I won't play more in the weekend as I will travel to do a public test (wish me luck), and return only on monday. Then I will play Dragon Quest XI S, it's been some time...
Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores
Only a couple of hours in, but I'm unsurprisingly really enjoying it so far. I need to shake off the rust though as I haven't played it since beating the game about a year ago, and it shows.
Wizards sleeve success!
I’ll tell you what I’m not playing - PSVR2. It’s two months since launch and I still can’t buy it from Currys and use my vouchers. Thanks Sony
Burning Shores for the most part. I'll also continue to chip away at Trails to Azure and also I want to play at least one arcade run on all of the SFs in order of release leading up to SF6 so I'll probably play SF1 for a bit. (We will see how far I get. That game is tough as nails!)
I'll also continue to play what little there is on the SF6 demo because the hype train is officially full steam ahead!
@rusty82 haha yeah, I’ve changed it now. In my mind it didn’t sound right that the game came out 10 years ago 😲
@R_Ryder
You’ll be in for a treat once they decide to properly release the thing! Have barely played any pancake games since it released.
@thefourfoldroot1 I second that. Not played any cake games in month. Come to think of it I’ve played nothing but GT7 in VR in months.
Dead island 2
@freddquadros good luck 👍🏻
I Installed Kena, Doom eternal, Riders republic and Slay the spire on Tuesday when it was available. I started with Slay the spire and boy I got hooked. Haven't played anything but that since Tue and will continue doing so.
I would never thought I would love a card game so much. I tried it after seeing so many positive comments about it, I'm passing that info: if you haven't already please try it!
Jumping back and forth between Dead Space Remake & Dead Island 2
@BlackMayge Happy birthday!
On the PS5, more WWE 2K23 and Final Fantasy VII Remake.
1. Burning Shores
Weekend is finally here (and it is raining) time to go exploring.
This game is a showcase for 4KTV HDR gaming. My wife even asked what I was playing. She really starting to appreciate Digital Art in gaming 😊
When not at work... currently playing Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania (quite a nice update in some ways, but control feels a little off), Aggelos, and a replay of Skyward Sword in its HD Switch release.
Also been playing Street Fighter 2': Special Champion Edition, as was added to NSO. Have a lot of nostalgia for the Mega Drive version, and I always liked that you can add hidden turbo stars to Champion Edition with a button code.
@ItsBritneyB_tch it's one of my faves. It was brilliant time in 2013 getting TR, Bioshock infinite and the last of us all within about 3 months of each other.
Liked all the 3 TR reboot series but shadow was the weakest of the 3 by far
Playing the just-released Advance Wars remake. Will probably also be finishing up Persona 5 Strikers tonight. Either way, everything is getting dropped next week when Future Redeemed comes out.
@kyleforrester87 I'm debating if I should just go back in and do the DLC stuff now, or wait to experience it on a second playthrough. I told myself the DLC content in XC2 would help make a second playthrough fresh, and maybe it will, but I haven't played through the main campaign again since 2018. I don't generally replay long games anymore, even ones I really love.
Might just make a third push through the main game to complete the DLC content the final, incredibly belated part of my playthrough.
@Ralizah I loved XBC2 and despite best intentions couldn’t manage a second play through. I have 180 hours in XBC3, really enjoyed it but it’ll be a long, long time before I am ready for another run. Pretty content chipping away at as much content as I can on the same save file for now.
Thinking on it, some of the RNG and weird gating in XBC2 is what puts me off playing it again these days, XBC3 doesn’t have that silliness so perhaps I’d be more inclined.
@BeerIsAwesome Are you leaving a specific game for that amazing milestone? I remember ruminating on the perfect game to platinum for my 100th earlier this year for like a week till I decided on Nier Replicant and was so glad with my choice because it became my favourite JRPG of all time. Best of luck!
Jeez, I hope I finish REmake 4. Just two chapters left. Regardless of my best intentions, I’ve had a whopping 3 hours a week of total game time since the game came out. I‘m starting to get withdrawal symptoms from gaming.
I'm playing the Burning Shores and nothing else at the moment. Hands down the best looking next gen game!
@UltimateOtaku91 mate we started Ragnarok at the same time! I have enjoyed the start, I got about 2Hours in earlier, and hope to play some more when the kids are in bed. How are you finding it so far? I'm on the second hardest difficulty, no mercy I think it's called
Marvel's Avengers I finally discovered how to play only the story/campaign missions and those are quite good. Even graphics are better than those crappy/boring/repetitive side-missions. I started to enjoy this game Before I thought it's totally disaster but for now seems fine, and it's included in PS extra, so it does not cost anything
@Sakai I'm around 3 hours in so far, I'm now exploring Svartalfheim trying to do the side quests for the head lol The first hour though was quite awesome just one thing after another. I'm not as good as you though as I'm playing on normal lol, I'm also undecided if I should use my materials to upgrade my armor now or save them as im bound to find something better soon.
@UltimateOtaku91 your a little further than me, but its been fun so far, I enjoyed the big fights at the start. I really enjoyed 2018, and this feels just as good, if not better. Happy gaming buddy and hope you enjoy the rest of it!
I’ll be playing indie sensations dead island 2, resident evil 5 and code Veronica, along with burning shores and locoroco midnight carnival.
Almost done with Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order. I've been really enjoying this one a lot. It's the 1st western game that hasn't made me roll my eyes once at all. Like it's just trying to be a fun action adventure game and it works. Combat can be a bit clunky but still decent. Exploration is my main thing. I just love finding secrets and shortcuts like in Dark Souls but with a bit more platforming to it
Final Fantasy IV Pixel Remaster (Switch) I have a quest to finally finish this game as it is one that I have never finished. Currently just got Rosa and about to tackle Mount Fabul.
Probably more Skyrim on Series X, having a lot of fun and made more progress than ever before. It may stick this time. Wife is playing Arkham Knight for the first time so I'll be co-piloting along with that too. Happy gaming everyone! 👍
I have around 30 hours in Midnight Suns. I really enjoy the combat portions of the game but the story is super meh and all the social interaction parts of the game are kind of lame. Still pretty fun though. Venom is easily my favorite Dlc character so far.
Also bought Papers, Please on my iPhone since I’d never played it before and wanted a little something for lunch hour at work. I was quickly humbled by my lack of detail-orientation. Still really fun though even while I’m terrible at it.
Like A Dragon: Ishin!
I've just completed the Hope Blossoms Again substory, man that one really got to me I must say.
Have a nice weekend everyone
Uncharted: Golden Abyss (Vita) - Still hate sliding down the water using tilt controls lol
Jetpack Joyride (Windows Phone) - Coming back to unlock all costumes and jetpacks.
Well i'm not playing anything this weekend due to dislocating my thumb..no games, golf or guitar for me..have a better weekend than i'm having folks 👍
@Northern_munkey speedy recovery mate
Like many others I'm elbow deep in Burning Shores goodness, think after I'm done I might go mop up some left over content in the base game... The new weapon you get in the DLC is a bit too OP and I can apparently upgrade it so nothing will stand in my way!
@rusty82 thanks mate..its not too bad tbh just a bit on the stiff side..
That's you, knowledge is power and hidden agenda. Good family night in. Surprised we had to get a PS4 out to play them though.
I'm playing Disney speedstorm
More Forbidden West ^__^
@Tobiaku Is it good? I'm really interested in it but worried about the F2P monetization elements
@Keyblade-Dan I think its really good, I bought the cheapest bundle of the game and is having a blast with it. If you like Disney and racing games, I think you will like it. They are currently not selling anything except the founder bundles you need to get the game at the moment, but I guess once they start selling f2p stuff for money it will be the blue tokens you can basically not get in the game (you get very, very few beyond those you started with) and the season passes.
You unlock characters by collecting shards. You start with Mickey, Donald and a character of your choice. (which should be Baloo or Belle if you want all characters, because they are orange and orange shards are the rarest) and potentialy Mulan, Jack Sparrow and Hercules if you buy the more expensive bundles. Despite buying hte cheapest founder bundle, I already have Mulan, 8 shards of Jack, and 6 Hercules shards, so its doable. I have unlocked about half of the current rooster this week.
The game has a few currencies, blue tokens, gold season tokens, multiplayer tokens and a different type of season tokens that currently are purple. If you don't care about cosmetic stuff, you mainly need to care about the season tokens. And you get them by playing the season chapters, and doing missions. And there are daily events where you also get the gold season tokens. (Unless they stop that type of event of course, it has been daily so far except for the weekend)
PS5 - Resident Evil 4 remake
Switch - Advance Wars 1 + 2 Reboot Camp
@Tobiaku Thanks for the info might pick it up ^__^
Gaming and anime this weekend gonna be real simple. Pretty close to the end of Megaman Battle Network 1 so I’m hoping to beat that today. On the PS front I’m thinking of just doing some more RE4. My two big focuses on there are definitely RE4 and The Mass Effect games. I didn’t like 1 but I’m really liking 2 a whole lot. As for the anime of the weekend I think all of my picks for Spring have at least 3 episodes out so now I gotta just organize what to watch when. Well besides Yuri is My Job Wednesday’s and Hells Paradise Saturdays. Maybe some Mashle Mondays????? Hahaha. My only day off this week is Monday so I’m thinking maybe some FFVI since I grabbed that this week. Or maybe some Advance Wars or Bayonetta Origins. So many choices hahaha.
