With the not-E3 season now officially behind us, it's time to settle into a steady summer of gaming. Square Enix is getting things underway this week with the release of Final Fantasy 16, a game we suspect many of you will be enjoying this weekend.
Aaron Bayne
There’s only one answer to this in my mind: it’s Final Fantasy 16 time, baby!
Khayl Adam
I’m playing through Aliens: Dark Descent for review and having a blast. It’s a bizarre mix of real-time tactics and survival horror, and completely addictive. Game over, man. Game over!
Liam Croft
I'll be working my way through the opening hours of Final Fantasy 16, much like everyone else I assume. I've also got Crash Team Rumble on the go, with a PS5 review planned for early next week.
Sammy Barker
I don't want to start Final Fantasy 16 as I'm going away next week, so I'm just bouncing around various mindless games I enjoy, like Street Fighter 6, The Crew 2. and Genshin Impact.
Scott McCrae
Another week where I can't say, but I'll be plucking away at the new Devil May Cry game Final Fantasy 16 and some of the surprisingly fun Crash Team Rumble.
Simon Fitzgerald
With the release of Rogue Legacy 2 on PS Plus this week, I’ll be getting a good Friday Knight’s sleep in order to stay up all weekend playing it. No doubt I’ll end up killing off an entire bloodline with my lack of skill though.
Stephen Tailby
Being so busy lately has been great, but it has meant certain things have fallen by the wayside. Case in point: I'll be playing Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective over the weekend and beyond for review, meaning Rogue Legacy 2 is on the back burner for now. Too many dang games!
There wasn't as much Final Fantasy 16 from our team as expected, but we're confident the comments will address that. What are you playing this weekend? Let us know below.

Today (literally 30 minutes ago) I've got the best thing ever!
This weekend I will be playing THE EBST GAME EVER MADE!
Castlevania Symphony of the Night ...
This game is the reason we are not invaded by aliens! This game is the reason why humans exist! This game is why there is still goodness left in this world!
Finally, I have a physical copy of it
HAPPY GAMING EVERYONE!!!
Some Metro: Exodus for me this weekend. Downloaded it last night so I'm planning on playing that today. I've also been playing some Remnant: From The Ashes here and there as well.
Let's not forget about some Splatoon 3 on Switch as well!
FF16 my first FF game. Loving it so far
Playing that sweet XVI
Final Fantasy 16, duh. I’m at the beginning with mainly cut scenes introducing the story, feels good so far. The characters seem strong. Also the first two bigger fights were very promising combat wise. I’m struggling a bit with the motion blur though, I feel a bit dizzy at times.
God of War Ragnarok endgame and the awesome Returnal. Played the Ff16 demo and I was convinced - Will skip Jedi Survivor and Diablo 4 and get FF 16 next.
Definitely not playing Final Fantasy 112
Probably finish off modern warfare 2 campaign on veteran and at some point I’ll play the co-op for the remaining trophies. Then I’ve got nothing till October so ill be hitting the backlog I wish I could care about FF16 but the last one I loved was FF9
Most of my time will be spent exploring Final Fantasy 16 further. Having such a blast with it. But then also finding some time with Diablo 4 too. Busy weekend for sure!
Final Fantasy XVI.
I might spend and hour or two with TotK and Diablo, but I took next week off for FF so that's what I'll be focusing on.
SWITCH
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - still running around Hyrule finding Korok seeds...
Fire Emblem (GBA Online) - Figured I might try this one out this weekend. It's my first Fire Emblem game!
Sonic Frontiers - seeing what the new DLC is all about! Happy birthday Sonic!
3DS
Super Princess Peach - after hearing about Peach getting her own game next year I figured I'd boot up her previous game!
PS5
GTA Online - multiplayer with friends later tonight.
Atomic Heart - been curious about this one for a while now, gonna see what it's all about.
PC
Hi-Fi Rush - heard very good things about this game since it came out!
Have a good weekend everyone!
DQ XI. I’m determined to put some serious hours into it this weekend. Feels like I’ve been playing it for months. Still haven’t finished Act 1😂
FFXVI....finished the long prologue, 3 bosses down. Loving it so far and loving the Game Of Thrones inspiration
I'm also trying to crack on with Diablo 4 but FF has stopped me in my tracks and Diablo 4 stopped me playing Zelda TOTK which i was utterly engrossed in for around 45 hrs .talk about an embarrassment of riches !
I've also got the superb Age of Wonders 4 and Company of Heroes 3 and the brilliant Streetfighter 6 feeling unloved and Jedi Survivor sat crying still in its shrink wrap.
What a wonderful time to be a gamer eh ?
Have a great weekend guys and gals ❤️❤️
Final Fantasy XVI of course! Also going to do a bit of Diablo IV co-op, too.
Like many others here I will be playing Final Fantasy XVI this weekend. Got the expensive collector's edition which looked great and having a blast playing the game. Nice to finally have some next gen exclusives that make the most of PS5
Cracking on with my play through of Prodeus, brilliant game but I'm nearing the end I fear!
Will also be playing Unit 13 on my Vita, what a system this was!
Happy gaming folks
Final Fantasy 16. Should have it done by the weekend, I reckon. Zero obligations coming few days, wife and kids are away. That implies quality alone time spent gaming!
Hopefully, FFXVI once the postie has been.
Although I have Final Fantasy XVI sat there on the shelf, I’m fighting hard against the urge to play it as I want to clear the deck in regards to a few games that I’ve had on the go. Speaking of which, I managed to get the Endless trophy on Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition this morning… 😅 tricky would be an understatement!
FFXVI like everyone else...fantastic game!
Forager..very addictive but where's my hand holding?
And on Switch Tears of The Kingdom which I absolutely love which is a surprise really considering Breath Of The Wild I could never really get into.
Happy weekend all!
I finished Zelda the Minish Cap. Pure magic, loved it.
Now on to Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Just a couple of hours in but love it already, despite hating the breaking weapons 😃
I want to play FF 16 as well but will wait a bit 😅 If I can keep myself away from it that it 😬
Diablo, might give x defiant a go too
On Ps5 Final Fantasy XVI, Street Fighter 6, Hogwarts Legacy and Star Wars Jedi Survivor. On Switch Ghost Trick Demo and Zelda TOTK.
FFXVI. I fought with Benedikta/Garuda late last night. She kicked my arse, I had no potions left, was on flashing red health and had to go on the defensive and minimise strike chances. With the music, the fun battle mechanics and my boy Torgal saving the day, it was absolutely phenomenal!
Honestly, the game can seem like a chore one minute and then be the greatest thing ever the next.
I'd love to be playing FFXVI even though in the demo it was hard to tell wth was actually going on in some of the battles, they are pretty bonkers 😁
But it'll probably just be some very occasional Zelda:TOTK on the switch if I fancy a bit of gaming away from home. Ooh, how I'd love a proper beastly current gen PS handheld 🥺
Cyberpunk 2077, playing the PS4 version on PS5 which holds up surprisingly well. Put together a fem V 'Lucy' build, crit monowire absolutely wrecks, great fun. Have a good weekend all!
Mainly the endless grind that is Disgaea 6 on the PS5, a series I have loved for years - Dood!
Also hoping to make some progress with Tales of Iron and a few occasional skirmishes on Helldivers.
Have a good weekend and happy gaming all.
Well, I have recently hacked my Vita, yeah, remember them, so been playing loads of old school stuff. Whole new lease of life it has.
Was just sitting in a drawer for ages.
No time for anything else.
@ApostateMage I envy you for being able to make this game hard somehow. Believe I used one or two potions during that battle. I don’t have any of the Timely rings equipped either. Crippling myself best I can. Really, really wish there was a proper difficulty option available without having to complete the game.
Still playing Ys Monstrum Nox and just levelling up the skills and tracking down some missing chests. I’ve also been fighting the urge to get back into Yakuza with the next instalment coming out.
I'm gonna be finally playing FF16 since copy arrives here sunday
@Relygon I let her beat me up on purpose. She seems like the type of character who enjoys that kind of stuff.
Im still playing the excellent ni no kuni wrath of the white witch remastered.and the amazing divinity original sin enhanced edition.and i will be watching legendary sitcoms tv 📺 comedy shows in Sanford and sons.good times.the Jeffersons.and saved by the bell.word up son
Ratchet & Clank (2016)
@ApostateMage Fair enough, makes sense. And yeah, that is true hah!
FFXVI, loving it so far
This weekend, besides working on my deadlines, I'll spend some time in the lovely new Final Fantasy XVI on PS5. I'm 4 hours in and I love it so much already! It's a gorgeous game with a gripping story.
I will probably have a little break with Zelda for the coming weeks. I'm at the final mission, I believe, but I just can't put myself to confront Ganondorf.
I'm a few hours into FFXVI now. I think the game has quite a challenge ahead to win me over. And I have a challenge to unlearn the combat rhythm and button layout of the Souls games. It's a perfectly OK game so far but I'm not getting a sense that I'm warming to it as much as I hoped I would for reasons I can't quite put my finger on. It's definitely not the combat system. It might just be the ridiculously high expectations I've had since it was announced. More and more I think it would have been better if it had just been a new IP. The amount of baggage tied to the FF name is huge. I will continue on in the hope I get into it as I progress. I really liked the music in that first forest area so at least they've got things right in one of the important areas.
Outside of that I will probably play more Diablo 4. Now that's a game that's hooked me more than I expected. It's been a few days since I've been able to fire it up and I'm missing it! And there will be more of the excellent Street Fighter 6 too.
Trying to play Final Fantasy but my dualsenses keep disconnecting from my PS5 constantly.
@Toot1st beta is over
Sniper Elite 5, I'm waiting for a performance patch for FF16
Finally going to knock over the final fight in Jedi: Survivor this weekend during a rare Diablo break and then try and balance Diablo with FF XVI, which just arrived. So many games to play...
The unholy trio of
FF16
Diablo IV
Tears of the Kingdom
I’ve downloaded other games, but they just feel like a nice decoration at the moment.
Erm...........
Final Fantasy XVI ya'll!!!!!!
And Tears Of The Kingdom when i have to give up the TV 😂
Little bit of F1 23 for me, plus finishing up Ratchet and Clank. Also started Tomb Raider (the gritty reboot) which is enjoyable enough but not a scratch on any Uncharted though.
Final Fantasy XVI
I've only gotten to play it for maybe a couple of hours so far, but I've enjoyed it so far. Really looking forward to finally digging into the game for extended periods this weekend.
Hi there fellow gamers.
This weekend is all about Final Fantasy XVI on PS5.
I only have like 12 hours and it´s already an absolute blast to play.
It just might be my personal GOTY.
Such an amazing year for videogames. There is just not enough time during the day to play them all.
Cheers everyone and happy gaming weekend to us all
@Zuljaras Hi there friend.
Had to give you a like and a shout.
Absolutly love SOTK as one of the BEST games ever made and that awesome physical copy is making me quite jealous 😜
Enjoy it well my friend.
Cheers and kudos to you
I am playing a fantasy, in fact. One of the greatest, most meaningful, most memorable, most influential fantasies in gaming history.
Dragon Age Origins.
Need to beat the 5 Royal Reverie levels of We Love Katamari Reroll after that I’m done with the remake.
I’m still playing Fortnite WILDS, bought the Air Max Airie skin and the Ciri and Yennefer skins from The Witcher
Beyond that I was thinking about starting Final Fantasy VI or Final Fantasy VII through the Pixel Collection
I also just placed an order for Bloodstained: Circle of the Moon Chronicles, The Ace Attorney Trilogy, Katamari Damacy Reroll and Ghost Trick at Play-Asia so that’s exciting.
I was in Halfords this morning grabbing a headlight bulb for the car talking to the guy behind the counter about FF16 🤪 roll on kids bedtime 😭 I have a feeling this is going to hit big numbers!
I played a few hours of Gollum last week and I’m sad to report… it’s as bad as they say. I was going to try and finish it but I can’t bring myself to play any more. It’s just so dull and left me feeling hollow. I don’t know how those devs feel after working on that game for years - it must have been soul destroying.
I also returned to Dead Island 2 - I only played the intro at launch but I’ve played around 6 hours or so now. I like it but I wish you could stealth kill the zombies when they have their back to you. I can already feel myself getting tired of the same ‘block/strike, block/strike’ mechanic. I also don’t like how the zombies respawn so quickly. I understand them respawning if you leave the map and return, but not when you enter/exit a house and the exact same zombies you just killed are all ‘alive’ again. Very annoying. But I am enjoying it for what it is.
Just started Far Cry 6, pretty good so far except for the footprint....a crazy 100gb.
@KAIRU really loved Remnant. I still dip back in from time to time.
Made the mistake of starting up Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town. Now I’m addicted. These type of games grab me too much. Will likely buy Hubris.
@RaZieLDaNtE Thank you! Castlevania is just such a special franchise to me
I’ve been wanting to play FF16 since the demo, but still haven’t gotten there, as I’d promised myself I’d finish TotK before I start. Ganondorf dies tonight.
Also, my son and I may do some multiplayer on the PS5. Maybe Moving Out or Clockwork Aquario. Maybe Katamari? I dunno. We’ve got a lot of options. He can pick that. It’ll probably end up being Sonic Mania… Also, the wife really wants to play Nazi Zombies for some reason, so I may boot up Cold War for her sake, in spite of the fact that I loathe the title.
Totally absorbed in FF16 atm, Ive taken a break from zelda to play it and Im glad I have.
I've also just recieved my Nacom daija fight stick, so Ive returned to my 'shoot em up project' to enjoy it. Im trying to have every single such game playabe in the house. I have everything up to Ps2/xbox playable on PC with shiney filters, and im working on more modern machines
I really want to make time for 'planet of lana' and 'sword and fairy 7' on gp too. Theres not enough time for everything!
Whatever and where ever you are gaming, I hope you have fun and a great weekend... 👍
ff16 of course
I've been playing Motorstorm Apocalypse. Just wanted some old school fun! Started playing FF16 - first time playing any in the series but loving it!
I’m still playing Diablo 4 on my XSX. I don’t have much new to say - the game is still fantastic. I’m currently in Act IV, received a mount (finally), and reached level 50. From here on out, I’m gonna focus on the main story so I can start some new characters to tackle more dungeons and side quests. Oh, and trying not to die by The Butcher for the third time.
I also decided to buy Final Fantasy XVI for the PS5. Let me preface this by saying I did not play the demo, and I avoided all spoilers or discussion regarding it. I haven’t played much, but I did beat the prologue. Holy smokes. The production value alone is mind blowing; but ending of the introduction had me in genuine shock and awe. That stuff was dark as hell, and I love it. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
1. FF16 (PS5)
2. F1 2023 (Steamdeck)
FF 16 like many others around here. I haven’t missed playing at launch since I was old enough to buy my own games.
Final fantasy 16 of course, I love that I can continue from my 2 hour playtime on the demo. Also maan, the 5.1 surround sound in this game are crazy, it's one of the best 5.1 positional game sounds imo, not to mention the music, god the music are amazing, the phoenix vs ifrit music is giving me the chills
I'm playing Trails to Azure, 47 hrs in and I'm guessing about half way through. I'm really enjoying it, but I'm looking forward to the plot heating up even further, as Trails games are definitely a slow boil.
I’m traveling this weekend so I’m not gonna get a chance to play much but once I get back to Atlanta later today I’ll download KILLZONE: Liberation for free and play that and I may also pick up Evil West in the current PS Store sale.
Finally some FFXVI, I didn't get to make it very far from the end of the prologue and just made it to the hideaway but so far so good. Having a lot of fun. One of the very first mini bosses of sort after the prologue had so many cool moves. It was kinda beautiful to watch on screen and have to dodge all of them. So very fun I can't imagine how much more epic the bosses are gonna be like from here on
Retro weekend
Ps2 - original ratchet & Clank, medal of honor european assault
Og xbox - brute force
N64 - paper mario
Still Street Fighter 6 for the most part.
Have just bought Evil West in the sale, hoping to start that over the weekend. Still playing Diablo 4, Army of ruin, and Zelda TOTK.
@MattBoothDev Don’t wait for too long mate. They’ll improve it for sure but the performance mode is so far off that I don’t think we will ever see a locked 60 fps.
F16 of course, the music is fantastic ,the battle music in particular is very exhilarating, oh just slapped a 10 on it on metacritic ,review bombed again
I would be playing FF16, if Amazon didn't delay my copy to next week
Soooo I'll be playing Splatoon 3 instead while I wait
Got halfway through Resident Evil 4. Tonight, as a birthday gift, I’ll be starting my FFXVI journey! Cannot wait 😎😎
It's going to be WWE 2K14, Yakuza 4 and the underappreciated SSX for the PS3.
You already know 😉 Final Fantasy XVI is amazing! I just finished Eastpool. GOTY contender hands down. Hope everyone is enjoying gaming this weekend.
Have FFXVI installed, played a few hours and am now playing Rogue Legacy 2. Why? No idea, but it’s more rpg than FF is.
@Relygon I'll take 40FPS@120Hz..
I'm in the first exploration area after the demo/prologue and it's just... Yeah
@MattBoothDev Yeah, I hope Square will shoot for that. Performance mode in towns is essentially a 30 fps experience, no patch will bring that up to a locked 60. The Luminous Engine is probably already at its limit.
I’m caught up in the Maelstrom of great gaming options and so I’m not sure how I’ll divvy up my time. I have FFXVI at the ready but still need to complete Jedi Survivor and Tchia. The latter may be the easiest to knock out first. But FFXVI looks just so awesome and I’m getting caught up in the FOMO.
Still firmly on Hogwarts, I did expect to like it as much as I have. Skyrim with wands! Maybe Portkey is our new Bethesda (with less jank)! I’m probably going to get FFXVI in a couple of weeks when I get two weeks off
Playing Diablo IV...level 30 after about 20 hours or so. Focused on campaign at first but recently more exploring and many side quests. The level scaling kinda nerfs the whole power fantasy, there is no way to go off and grind to level up and come back to a boss to beat it. Actually there is no real grinding, because if you advance levels, the game just advances all the enemies.
So you have to dive into the meta, but there are hundreds of builds out so it's hard to choose, not to mention Blizzard is nerfing and buffing all the time currently (to be expected this early in the game's life) so it's like a moving target. Also I am becoming less interested in the seasons, as I don't really feel like starting all over with a new character.
Otherwise, the game is definitely fun and addicting. Looks amazing and great cut scenes. The fact that it's an open world and you can go anywhere, and do the campaign in any order, is huge in terms of flexibility. I have an ice sorceress that (currently) is pretty powerful after finding a pretty tight build, but not sure I will play the game long term. Or maybe I will, kinda on the fence.
Part of me really just wants to pause it all and jump right into Final Fantasy XVI which I know I will be playing for weeks and having a blast
@Th3solution I'm guessing you mean
XVI and not VII?
@MightyDemon82 Haha! Yes, I do. Fixed that for clarity.
…Stupid iOS…. the autocorrect AI must have learned “FFVII” as my most referenced of the series. 😅
@frankmcma Stick with it and push on with the campaign, the side stuff is handy for completing regional challenges but story gear appears to have some kind of soft cap. I was 45-50 finishing the campaign and everything that dropped during the campaign was lower level than what I had. Side content will be there when you're done.
Well this weekend is a pretty simple one. Just gonna focus tonight on a nice long opening session of Final Fantasy XVI. Then the rest of the weekend is gonna be trying to finish Metroid Prime Remastered. According to the guide I’m following I’m pretty close to the end of the game? I’m in the Phazon Mines. Might play some Dead Island 2 or Street Fighter 6 as well. As for the anime it’s Hells Paradise and Mashle primarily and honestly for the rest of the weekend and most of next week the focus is on catching up on and finishing off my Spring anime as a lot of them are wrapping up as the Summer Anime season premieres soon. Hope everyone has a excellent weekend and happy gaming.
@Marquez Good advice! If I had to start over, or a perhaps a tip for those just starting D4, I would just focus on the campaign. I am finding that doing a lot of side quests levels me up nicely but slows down the campaign with higher level enemies and extended boss fights. I will push onward!
A fantasy indeed.
I'm currently 10 hours into the game.
@Zuljaras To me as well.
It was the Castlevania franchise that made me fall in love with MetroidVania type games. Been playing many ever since.
I still remember playing Metal Gear Solid on my PSone (another amazing franchise by the way) and when I heard Psycho Mantis, not only saying that I enjoy rpgs, but even sayin that I enjoy SOTK!!!!
I was in complete shock when it happened.
The memory card reading trick was just another genious idea from Kojima-san. No wonder I love MGS so much.
Konami used to be great though.... Oh well....
Cheers and have a good one
Everyone has finally left me to my own devices so I'm sat melting on the couch just starting Dark Descent, working my way through the tutorial mission.
I'm a sucker for tactics/strategy games I'm hoping it decent enough.
@frankmcma man I feel you on there being zero power fantasy. My first Diablo was 3, so I am totally unused to how the real Diablo games play.
It became pretty clear to me early on that I’m going to have to actually think about how I’m building this toon out. Wasn’t expecting that.
Excellent game though and I’m having a good time, even with being terrible at it.
@Total_Weirdo how’s Redfall now?
Street Fighter 6 (PS5, Xbox Series X) and Final Fantasy XVI.
It won't be FF16 or Crash as I was left so disappointed by the last installments that I now refuse to pay top dollar for inferior products. Developers have grown too accustomed to releasing bug riddled garbage and people accepting this as "the norm". It's time we stood up for ourselves as consumers and present a united front to demonstrate that we're not accepting this. Would you accept a half MOT'd car or half a meal in a restaurant? Why then just accept a half finished poor excuse of a bug riddled game? Aren't we due more for our hard earned money?
Final Fantasy XVI
No, FF is not for me I’m afraid…played it first on PS1 all those years ago (can’t remember which one it was, 7 maybe?), and hated it and haven’t touched them since, and won’t either…Diablo 4 for me this weekend…and the coming week(s)…
I completed BotW this week, so if I go back to that it will be to try and achieve the better ending.
On PS it’s a little bit more of TLOU Pt. 1.
I also started GoW again, having not progressed very far on release. I’m not sure the endless hack and slash is for me. I appreciate the game looks great and is supposed to have an excellent story, but I just don’t seem to be into the gameplay loop.
FFXVI, I'm about half way I think... I am loving every second of it so far.
At least now my wallet can relax for a while after the barrage it has taken over the last 3 months. end of the year award season is going to be messy this year but if Ben Starr doesn't get best lead I'll riot because that lad is nailing his performance as Clive.
Taking a break from Zelda and playing Ragnarok this weekend. Happy gaming everyone!
@dirty_score awesome game
@Dusk_Actual there are certainly a lot of ways to build, and tons of great builds out there, and it’s not too pricey to respect at any time, so lots of options. It is an excellent game, i jumped in last night and 3 hours just zipped by…had a blast
Switching between FF16 and SF6. Also going to watch the SF6 matches at CEO as well. Lots of good stuff!
Ff16, absolutely brilliant and save state wonderful. No idea why save state isn't put into all games. Don't fix it if it's no broke days of xbox360 I save twice lol 😂
@enrickUranium I'm bummed out that I couldn't get into FF16. I only played the demo but found the combat engine to be boring as all hell
Going through my stack of shame right now with, Tchia, Ghostwire: Tokyo, Yakuza Inchi. Some PC stuff as well
Still trying to beat Hitman (2018) and playing Days Gone
Still deep into Diablo IV raising my Necro.
But I managed to throw in 5 levels of Sackboy A Big Adventure too, first time playing it - very enjoyable game, and a welcomed temporary change of scenery before going back into the desolating areas of Sanctuary.
It's St. John holiday here in my region, so I had more gaming time and played a lot: Hogwarts Legacy, it's wonderful for a fan of the Wizarding World like me. Rogue Legacy 2, harder than the 1st. Defeated only one boss thus far. Assassin's Creed Origins, finished one DLC. And Ghostwire Tokyo, as there was weeks I didn't booted the game. Yes, that's a lot of gaming hehe
I didn't play a lot, bits here and there but I did watch lots of Glastonbury which was awesome!
@Dusk_Actual was up on friday when i played it
