It finally feels like we're clear of the recent release schedule, and now we're all looking towards end-of-year celebrations — and big old backlog battles! Still, we need to appreciate the relative calm before early 2024 and its ridiculous games lineup destroys us all.
Aaron Bayne
Now that Control is out of the way, it’s onto my next backlog entry, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor - mixed in with some Diablo 4 of course!
Jaimie Ditchfield
After being emotionally destroyed by the ending of Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, it's time to wrap up my completionist run by collecting the remaining Trophies. However, I might take a nice stroll down memory lane and dive into Super Mario RPG on my Switch.
Jamie O'Neill
I'm going on a cinematic platforming journey, starting with Another World, and then running on to the original Flashback, before taking a precarious leap towards the recently released Flashback 2.
Liam Croft
I've got a Cocoon playthrough to finish up before I go on holiday to Wales from Sunday!
Robert Ramsey
Yep, it's officially backlog season for me, as the only game left on my 2023 review schedule is Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising. As such, I might be giving the disappointing Diablo 4 another shot now that it's been heavily updated, and a Baldur's Gate 3 co-op campaign could be on the cards.
Scott McCrae
Review season is finally over and I'm free to catch up on new releases. Going to dig into either Alan Wake 2 or Marvel's Spider-Man 2 this weekend, and again, a lot of The Binding of Isaac: Repentance.
Stephen Tailby
I think this weekend will be perfect to really get acquainted with Teardown. I've been dabbling in it a little, but I'd love to get to grips with its satisfying destruction. I'm also eager to play Chants of Sennaar, and it's currently in a PS Store sale, so I may have to grab it.
Now that we've had our say, we want to know what you'll be playing this weekend. Tell us all about your cosy gaming plans in the comments section below.

This weekend I will mainly focus on Castlevania Curse of Darkness on the Steam Deck I have never finished it and it is a shame since I am a fanatical CV fan!
Hollow Knight and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire are side games to pick up and progress little by little!
Happy gaming!
Currently playing Prince of persia 2008 for the ps3😂. Very chill game.
Currently too poor to play any ps5 games right now, so I'm gonna take a stab at that ps3 backlog 😂
Have unfinished business with Demon Souls... and then I would say the Bluey game but we've almost completed it in about an hour. Son will probably replay it to death so its all good.
Still going on Baldurs Gate 3. 140hrs in and just about to start Act 3. Absolutely brilliant game.
Also a bit of Alan Wake Remastered on the side in preparation for 2.
@Zuljaras Beautiful machine. I sold and shipped mine yesterday (waiting for oled to ship) and I'm actually suffering withdrawal symptoms. There's an empty space on my office desk that I almost can't look at.
Continuing with My Time at Sandrock. 70+ hours in and still no where near the end of the story. Best £30 I’ve ever spent!
Robocop. Class game.
Tempted to buy the crew motorfest in the ps sale. If not will start Alan wake 2.
After +200 hours I want to quit Starfield (for a while), so focussing on the faction and main quests now. After that I want to play as many as possible PS Plus games until July, because I’ll let my subscription run out. So far Miles Morales, The Callisto Protocol, Scarlet Nexus, Ghostwire: Tokyo and Alan Wake Remastered are on top of my PS Plus backlog.
I’m gonna finish up Cat Quest then maybe start Dead Cells. Eyeing TLOU part 1 in the Black Friday sale so maybe that instead. I’ve never played or watched the series
Been on a hot streak of completing some of my old backlog of games and getting the platinum (Black Flag, Skyrim, MK11 to name 3). Therefore will be finally completing new game plus for Arkham Knight for the platinum. Then maybe also continue on with Final Fantasy XVI on the hardest difficulty, which is my personal Game Of The Year.
Should finally be finishing BG3 this weekend. It's been a wild ride and I've loved every minute!
Not 100% sure. Burned out on AC Mirage. Gameplay is solid enough but story not grabbing me at all.
I'm sure I'll have something in my backlog to get into
Pretty busy this weekend but when I do get some time to play it will be Mortal Kombat 1 which was my Black Friday treat and of course BG3.
I'm still on my quest to 100% Cities: Skylines
@Sequel I will stay with my normal Deck but each new revision is better and better. Such a wonderful device!
Am away for a family weekend so perfect time to start Mario RPG and play for a bit, along with continuing my restart of playing Xenoblade 3
Ps5 Alan Wake 2 nearly 20 hours played and its incredible. Series X/ Laptop Like A Dragon Gaiden played about 5 hours and Control replay. Might pick up Trepang2 in the sale
ANNO: Mutationem and The Walking Dead: Destinies. I’ll probably finish both and carry on with Super Mario RPG.
I picked up FF16 last weekend so am playing through that. Great game so far gameplay wise, with satisfying combat and a surprisingly engaging story and characters given recent games in the series. Disappointing visuals though; there is just something off with the lighting in this game making everything feel very flat, and the depth of field effect is extremely overdone, especially in cutscenes - wish I could turn this off like I can the motion blur (although even when that’s set to off it feels like it’s still on to some degree).
I'm back on Tears of the Kingdom atm. I still haven't finished it. There have been too many games this year.
I have an itch to play Diablo IV again too. Seems like it might be perfect for the Portal 🤔
i beat SM2 thursday & unlocked spectacular difficulty, im torn between replaying it from scratch on spectacular or waiting for new game plus because i really still want to play it again partially because the game isn’t long enough and i don’t wanna keep waiting for new game plus, damn insomniac why did they leave out such an obvious thing smh
edit - i don’t think the unlocked difficulty is called “spectacular” it’s called something else but you get the point
I bought BG3 last weekend, FOMO playing a big part. Have to admit that I’m struggling to get on with it. It’s still early days, so hopefully it will click with me at some point. Have downloaded the Immortals of Aveum trial so will give that a go. Still playing Super Mario Wonder.
UPDATE: Well, the IOV trial worked…have now purchased the full game. Went for the deluxe version @£35.99, only £1 dearer than the standard version.
Yesterday I finished Spider-Man 2-what an awesome, fun game. All three in the series are. Thank you Insomniac!
I am starting Alan Wake Remastered this weekend. I didn’t have a platform to play the original when it first came out, and I have been hearing about how great it is for years. Excited to see what I have missed-and to eventually play Part 2!
This weekend I'll probbaly be playing the Tales of Arise expansion and then Mario Wonder with my girlfriend.
Mario Wonder got my GOTY vote with how much fun it is and how happy it's making my girlfriend playing in co-op.
I'm testing and debugging the application (android/web) that I've been developing for the past year and a half with the help of my friends, so I won't have much time to play as I aim to publish it in December. But if I do find some time, I'll continue playing "The Invincible". I still haven't started Spider-Man, even though I downloaded it a while ago...
I’ll be cracking on with a bit of a jail break in Baldur’s Gate 3, furthering the intense trauma of furry children in FUGA: Melodies of Steel 2, and might make myself cry with some more Spiritfarer.
Jumping between TOTK and Diablo 4!
Finally finished BG3 yesterday, now playing the magnificent Talos Principal 2. It’s already making me feel dumb and smart at the same time. I look forward to poking around in every corner trying to get items out of there areas to find mega secrets! If only Serious Sam 4 was as good as this…
Having continuous conversations with my own psyche whilst trying to stay clean and sober in Disco Elysium.
I've made a pact to start playing one of the PS Plus Essential games each month so I'm playing Aliens: Fireteam Elite in solo mode with the bots. Have done 5 of the 12 missions. Good dumb fun.
Also playing AC Valhalla in the background.
I got my portal this week so I’ve been dipping in and out of different games to test it. Over the weekend I plan to crack on and make some progress through BG3 act 3.
Having finally finished SM2 (class game) I am moving onto Robocop and a bit of Mario Wonder, should have been dabbling with Final Fight on my new Super Pocket but Bezos has mucked it up and it's delayed
Happy gaming folks!
@Th3solution one of the best games ever IMO, Kim is a legend!
I'm playing lords of the fallen. I have a stinky cold (thanks wifey) so i'm just playing that and i'll watch the netflix cup even though a right spoil sport at work already told me who won. Have a wicked weekend everybody 👍
Ys Origin (playing through Toal's campaign on normal difficulty because hard was kicking my butt 🙄). Once I'm done with Origin's retro goodness, I will finally be giving Ghost of Tsushima a spin - been looking forwards to that one for a while!
Also playing Gravity Rush 2 (one of my fave games ever) with my daughter - she's currently in awe of the scale of Jirga Para Lhao.
Just picked up Sonic Origins, Hogwarts Legacy, and Aliens: Dark Descent on the black friday sales...Sonic - I was there at the beginning, and still - 30yrs later - absolutely terrific... Hogwarts and Aliens - only a couple hours done, and honestly; so far so good....I wouldn't call them genuine GotY contenders, but definitely doing the job 🙂
Teardown, cities skyline, mafia 2 and maybe spider-menz 2
Went back to Sekiro to gather points to acquire those powerful skills just for fackin Sword Saint. Still roaming in AC Valhalla. Don't know where to go on Reaper's Coast in Divinity OS2, since everywhere I go it's "you're outmatched." Would like to take down a few monsters in MH World Iceborne also. Roam a bit in legendary Elden Ring, MAFIAII probably, I mean it's whatever else.
Im hoing to get back on to BG3 at somepoint but WRC pulls me in every time. As its always loaded up when i turn on the ps5 i always say "i will do just 1 stage" then it turns in to doing a full rally.
Finished the story for Like A Dragon Gaiden last night, amazing conclusion to the story and can't wait to see how things go in Infinite Wealth. Will be trying the Trial version of Infinite Wealth and depending whether to get the Platinum, then I'll carry on Star Ocean Second Story R which I ended up buying last Saturday evening, or start Super Mario RPG which is still sitting in it's case. So many games...
Cyberpunk 2.0 and Returnal on my new PlayStation Portal which is awesome!
Started Ghost of Tsushima this week so continuing with that. Almost at the end of Act 2. Took me a while to get into it but loving it now. Taking my time with it and doing a lot of the side quests.
More No Man's Skyrim...sorry, Starfield ..its the epitomy of a 6/10 game, dull in places , poor quests, usual Bethesda stuff, yet I cannot stop loving it or playing it!
Halo Infinite ..peerless multiplayer still, this game gets a lot of flak but the campaign and MP are superb
Diablo 4 ..Still consuming my life !
Have a great weekend guys and gals ❤️
@Hellaween do it...Crew Motorfest is great fun !
Xbox Series X: I'm wrapping up the two endings I haven't done yet in Cyberpunk and playing Halo Infinite.
Switch Oled: Nothing.
PS5: Nothing.
Battlefield 2042
Diablo 4 worth buying? I have never played a Diablo game before and there’s an itch for me to try one
Playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla this weekend. This game is massive and there is always more to do. Disco Elysium is in order, as the mistery is deepening, and punching some rival clans in Yakuza Kiwami 2. I wish you all well.
I’ve gotten slightly bored of AC Mirage, so I might dig into one of my many JRPG’s currently laying about my PlayStation. Just need to decide which one, which is a game in itself. 😂
Just finished Alan Wake 2, absolutely superb game. So now going to finally play Dead space remake. Continuing that horror vibe. Can't complain through EA play for 79p.
Clearing a bit of my PSVR2 backlog and starting Sea of Stars on the Portal (yes, I've been waiting on purpose for that one).
Honkai Star Rail brilliant JRPG. I’ve been flip flopping about whether to play it as Genshin is such a time sink, but it’s had me obsessed since the moment I started playing. One of those games you constantly think about when you’re not playing.
Got pretty lucky on the banners so far. Got Bailu, the best healer on the standard banner, and got Seele, a strong DPS, with minutes to go on her re-run banner after furiously grinding F2P wishes. Alongside buffing supports Tingyun and Asta that has me pretty well set for a first team, now need to build a second, and some elements, for end-game content.
Just reached the Xiaozhou Luofu (3rd world) and loving the combat, story and QoL improvements over Genshin. Material grind is still a pain, and relics seem even worse than artefacts with RNG.
Still when you are having this much fun for free it’s hard to criticise too much.
@Sequel also having steam deck withdrawal symptoms as I sold mine immediately after OLED was announced.
Game & Watch Gallery 2 (GBC) - Mostly playing Ball, but I may delve into other titles.
Dragalia Lost (Android) - Went to play this on the wife's phone and completely forgot that it's unplayable now
Doodle God Blitz (Windows Phone) - Nearly 3/4 of the way done with it now.
AEW Full Gear tonight and the 110th Grey Cup tomorrow (Go Bombers!) So a busy weekend ahead indeed!
Finishing up Super Mario Bros 3 and then moving to Super Mario World on the Switch
I just finished and beat divinity original sin enhanced edition.wow what a game.easily one of the best games i ever play.the final boss was n.i.c.e. and the ending was perfect.playind as a wizard is amazing.its a instant classic.im playing the amazing monster hunter world.the fantastic weird west.the gameplay is extremely fun with the gun gameplay.abilities and magic.the graphics is cool.the story is good.and boss fights is really good.and the excellent ni no kuni wrath of the white witch remastered.i will be watching my Pittsburgh Steelers💛🖤 play.my boston Celtics 💚🖤.and i will be watching legendary sitcoms tv 📺 comedy shows in Sanford and son.good times and saved by the bell.word up son
I’m going to try some Teardown this weekend finally, I believe. And I’ll be playing some old favorites on my Xbox, thanks to the Midway Arcade Collection being in their Black Friday Sale. Root Beer Tapper, my friends. Root Beer Tapper…
Most importantly though, I hadn’t had much time to play Alan Wake 2 this past week and I’m going to play it. It’s one of my absolute favorite games I’ve ever played at this point and I can’t wait to see where it goes.
Beat Like a Dragon Gaiden a few days ago and absolutely cried at that ending. Also beat Castlevania Bloodlines and reached level 50+ in Fortnite OG
I’ve currently beaten 99 games this year and 299 unique games since 2017 so I’m doing an almost blind playthrough of Final Fantasy 7. The only things I know are the twist the internet has spoiler for the past 20 years now and everything that was brought over to 7 Remake.
I’ve just finished Modern Warfare 2 Remastered campaign and it was one of the best single player fps campaigns I’ve ever played. This weekend I’ll be mostly continuing my 6th playthrough of CP 2077 and I’m deep into Phantom Liberty. Great stuff so far.
Main game I'll be playing this weekend is refreshing my Steam order page to see if my new OLED deck has been dispatched
It's more * Star Ocean Second story R* for me. I do need to try to Platinum Final Fantasy XVI tho...
Have a great weekend all!
Elden Ring on ps5...on the way to Castle Sol to continue with Latenna's questline. Still a lot of bosses in front of me but really enjoying this incredible journey.
Have a nice weekend and happy gaming!
Continuing my return to Cyberpunk 2077 for a second playthrough that I started a couple of days ago, this time as a female Street Kid.
I look forward to playing more this weekend as it was one of my favorite games this generation after my first playthrough last year, and to experience the 2.0 update and a slightly other side of the game as the female V.
@Link41x I'm watching Full Gear tonight too. Hopefully it delivers and the signing isn't lame.
Cyberpunk 2077 and Saints Row.
Dunno why Saints Row got so much negativity about its characters. I actually quite like Eli.
@KingPev caved in and bought it! Currently downloading 😀
It’s all about the platinum in Lies of P
Then of course Alan Wake 2 some more. What a wild game! Baldurs Gate 3 on the side along with Sanabi on switch, which is an incredible game for the price.
Giving Lords of the Fallen (2014) another go. Still every bit as janky as the first time I tried it, but I'm more motivated to deal with jank at the moment.
The usual MLB / NFL / NHL sports trio on PS5.
Also got a free trial of NBA 2K24 (on Xbox). Seems decent enough this year to maybe buy on sale (likely for PS5 where still have wallet funds).
This week, or last Sunday to be exact, I got the platinum trophy for Alan Wake 2 — my current GOTY. It’s easily one of the best survival horror games in the last decade, and that’s saying something considering the first entry was more action adventure with some campy horror elements intertwined. It’s such a drastic duo that stays true to its roots as a premise. I believe this will be a game that will be talked about for many years to come.
While I was waiting for Super Mario RPG to release, I decided to play Lies of P. I don’t typically have the patience anymore for a Soulsborne or Soulslike as I used to — even going as far as getting the platinum for Bloodborne and Dark Souls 2 — but this game has me hooked.
I’m only four hours in and I’ve beaten the Mad Donkey and Scrapped Watchmen. So far, the game is really good. I love the Victorian-esque world of Krat. It’s original but also clearly inspired by Bloodborne. The environmental story telling is fantastic, and I love picking up newspaper clippings that draw you into its world by saying a lot with minimal text.
Your character being Pinocchio is really fascinating as well. The truth or lie system is very clever mechanic. I’ve already had to make a decision in a side quest that had me thinking if I did the right thing or not. And I’ve answered a phone call that unexpectedly gave me a timed riddle. Thankfully, I got the correct answer and was handsomely rewarded. I’m curious to see how all of this pays off in the overarching story.
I do have two minor gripes, though. First is the inventory system, particularly the quick slot menu. It’s a great idea, but poorly executed. I’d prefer to have all four directional buttons be of use in hastily situations rather than up and down. Instead, I feel as if I’m constantly rearranging my load-out which is breaking my immersion.
My other niggle is the speed of combat. The timing of your dodge and block mechanic seems slightly off — maybe by just a split second, but it’s enough to make a difference. And similar to Steel Rising — a game I thoroughly enjoyed — the enemies and combat are janky but it’s designed that way due to the characters being puppets/machines.
Speaking of combat, the weapons are really cool. I love how you can mix and match various blades and handles to customize a weapon to your choosing — it adds a sense of creativity that blends well with the entire puppeteer theme. I can’t wait to customize my build with the P-Quartz. The possibilities seem robust.
Overall, Lies of P is really good. I can see why the praise has been practically universal. It isn’t perfect, but it has a lot of interesting ideas and originality to standout from other Soulsborne games. Maybe I’ll make this my next platinum trophy.
I just wrapped up Alan Wake II and will now go for the platinum on the EU version of Control Ultimate Edition. Also got Lies of P for PS5 (already finished it on Series S via GP) and I'm looking forward to finish another run.
Diablo IV as a matter of fact….Octopath Traveler and Super Mario RPG…..
More Cyberpunk until something else can lure me away, such as: a Fallout 4 PS5 upgrade, the Biotech DLC for console Rimworld - or possibly Steamworld Build (the Steamworld Dig games I actually completed, which is a rarity).
A bit of FM24 and Ultimate team today, will pickup with Deathloop again tomorrow when I feel less hungover!
More mage fun in Dark Souls III if I get the chance. I say "fun". It's tough getting a mage build off the ground. No wonder Gandalf was so old before he became a decent magician.
This weekend i am mostly playing TV (and some parts of Spiderman 2 with Venom involved)
God of War Ragnarok and Disney Speedstorm
Spider-Man 2 and hoping to wrap up Alan Wake Remastered. Then, with no physical release on the horizon, I need to decide whether or not to bite the bullet on Alan awake II. If not, I have Lies of P waiting in the wings. Happy gaming!
Playing a ton of the Splatfest in Splatoon 3 for the weekend.
Also want to sprinkle in some Mario RPG and a bit of Grounded with a friend of mine.
@KilloWertz I just did the same thing, except I went with a female Corpo. Do you plan on integrating Phantom Liberty into this play through? It’s a fantastic expansion.
@NinjaNicky medics don’t revive, tanks which can’t stay stationary when in need of repair, condor pilots who can’t fly but do anyway, vehicle drivers who drive off without letting others jump in, pilots who fly planes directly into capture points thinking they’re flying in to the twin towers, that one person who always mentions camping or the team being noobs, those who don’t know how to redeploy in HZ and are only one still alive……
….and my current gripe “no one defending the tunnel in Redacted”. I do love this game though despite its many many flaws. On every day playing it Nicky, if you see me in game do say hello
WRC23 and Dying Light 2. And some Elder Scrolls Online as well.
Got the Xenia Canary going, and running quite well, so I'm just testing out a number of games on there. TDU, Dirt, Fable II, Saints Row II, planning on trying Saw. Thinking of getting back into WoW.
@Jimmer-jammer Yeah, I'm definitely going to play Phantom Liberty at some point. I strangely enough pre-ordered it even though I wasn't going to play it anywhere near release. I'd like to try to play it after I'm done with the main game again, but we'll see if I trigger it by accident like what happens with other RPGs and DLC.
Just finished up the platinum for Terminator Resistance which was a surprisingly enjoyable experience. Bought quite a few games on the PSN Black Friday sale so I have some choices on what to play. I’m leaning towards AC Mirage mixed in with some Gris maybe on the Portal.
@KilloWertz Nice! I thought it was actually integrated into the main campaign extremely well. I ended up doing it alongside the main game, jumping back and forth, and felt it was very natural. Hope you enjoy!
PS5 - Assassin's Creed Mirage, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name
Switch - Super Mario RPG remake
House to myself this weekend so picked up assassins creed nexus and gonna start that later. Maybe a bit more dead space remake as well
Nothing too much in the PlayStation side. I’m very addicted to Danganronpa V3 on the Switch.
For me, finishing up Spidey 2, just got some of the side stuff to go before hitting the final battle.
Being disappointed (probably) by EAFC24
If I get Spider-Man finished I'm going play through some backlog stuff to tide me over until I finish work in mid December, then I am going to restart BG3 and spend my 3 weeks off on that.
@playstation1995 the divinity games are fantastic, the second is my favourite but both are great. Also can I just say your comment on wayp every weekend makes my weekend 🙂
Abit of teardown on ps5 which is so far really really fantastic I'm early on in the game but I'm having a great time with it, I didn't expect to like it this much which goes to show you just never know what yr gonna really enjoy even if sometimes its not yr genre ,the physics in teardown as well are really something, 😀
Teardown and BG3 are my focus but need to finish GoW 2 Ff16 and horizon fw
Sekiro. I’m having a blast in it. By blast I mean I’m dying a lot
@Blaze215. Haha😀 thanks playa.why does it make your weekend.yeah divinity original sin is amazing.i will play divinity original sin 2 definitive edition soon.im already hyped.word up son
Alan Wake 2
Diablo 4
FF 16
Armored Core 6
2nd run of Cyberpunk 2077 (post V2 update )
@playstation1995 because I watch sports and old comedy's at the weekend too so it's gives me the weekend feeling 😂 Original sin 2 improves on the first in pretty much every way. I always knew balders gate was going to be a hit after playing the divinity games, I can't believe they didn't get as much hype when they were released
Still the Crew motorfest. Occasionally on the portal, which is excellent! Boot up a good looking ps5 title on portal and its one of those 'wow' moments I dont often get in gaming, so buttery smooth and the hdr looks amazing on the lcd where it can get the brightness it needs to really pop in daylight. Loving it.
Also playing some cheap shovelwhare from the switch eshop (10 games and change from £20) I should be embarrassed by hidden object/puzzle titles and match 3 games, but on a quite Sunday with my misses playing on the sofa beside me, they fit the mode more than any epic quest can....
Whatever you are playing, I hope you are having a great weekend..
@HellaweenThe Crew Motorfest is good fun. Not the greatest racing game ever but definitely worth picking up on Sale.
This week I’ve finally decided to pick up my very old save for SOMA. I’m very near the end. I’llbe glad to get that one off the backlog. Have a great weekend!
@Blaze215. Sports is life and i been watching old school sitcoms comedy since i was 4 years old.yeah divinity original sin 2 definitive edition is amazing.and yeah Baldur's gate 3 and divinity original sin enhanced and divinity original sin 2 definitive edition are 3 of the best games ever.word up son
Playing The Talos Principle - great game, some Diablo IV season 2 and The Ascent.
Been playing GT7 as regularly as ever thanks to the wonderful Spec II update, also started Bloodborne which has been sat in my library since been part of the PS Plus collection. As someone who started and dropped off Demon's Souls and Elden Ring I'm finding Bloodborne more accessible and enjoyable. Love the gothic art style and the combat is chef's kiss
@Loamy Alan Wake 2 might be my surprise GOTY contender for that genre. Never played original. Thought I'd give this one a try and was a little worried about 30 minutes in I wouldn't like it. Then couldn't put it down.
