With The Game Awards now in the rearview mirror, the penultimate event in the gaming calendar has concluded, leaving us with just one final noteworthy milestone to clear: Push Square's definitive Game of the Year countdown, of course. Work is underway behind-the-scenes on that, and all will be revealed towards the latter half of the month.

My main aim for the weekend is to get through Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora for our review, but with The Finals dropping during The Game Awards, I'm keen to get some time on that after missing the beta.
Jamie O'Neill
Another weekend, and another pixel art action game. I can't believe that it's almost a year since Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider released on 12th January, 2023, so I'll slash my way back to JoyMasher's 16-bit inspired ninja-'em-up.
Khayl Adam
With the surprise release of DLC for Final Fantasy 16, I think it's high time Clive and I got acquainted. Now that things are slightly calmer on the release front for me, this may be my opportunity to get stuck in.
Sammy Barker
I'm very interested in all these new Fortnite games that are launching, so I'll probably spend a chunk of time getting to grips with LEGO Fortnite and Rocket Racing.
Stephen Tailby
I'll be putting in a bit more time with Have a Nice Death this weekend before I put my thoughts into a review. I'm also very curious to try Rocket Racing in Fortnite; as a big fan of both Rocket League and arcade racers, this could be made for me. Let's hope it's good!
These are the games keeping us busy this weekend, but what about the rest of you? Is there anything specific on your docket? As always, let us know your gaming itinerary in the comments section below.

This weekend I will play one of my favorite games Sanitarium! Absolutely stunning point-and-click adventure with phycological horror elements!
I will also try to get as far as possible into Castlevania Rondo of Blood!
And finally, I wanted to make some progress into Ocarina of Time. I admit it is a little hard for me to get into the game
Happy gaming!!!
Fighting through Season 1 of Modern Warfare 3 and just started Avatar on PS5.
GT7 on PSVR2 with my brand new steering wheele and pedals from Fanatec
Avatar - Frontiers of Pandora and Resident Evil 4 Remake VR Mode. Good times.
Just can't get enough of Monster Hunter I had to get Rise, and I'm not even done with Iceborne. Was hesitant initially when the internet kept talking down on Rise's graphics, yet I'm impressed with the sharpness and textures. The art direction is nice in its own right, nothing bad about it. Gotta love the combat, monsters, crafting, fashion in these games, no wonder they call them fashion hunter, like fashion souls except Sekiro doesn't like fashion. Yeah so it'll be mainly Rise and Iceborne this weekend.
Attempting to finally beat the Elias capstone dungeon in Diablo 4 because I want harder dungeons to blast through with my build. I also need to understand and finally install some aspects as I’m sure that will make me all powerful.
More of The Finals, it’s completely put me off BF2042.
Ps5 Back on Cyberpunk 2077 checking out 2.1 update. Robocop and Final Fantasy XVI. Series X/Laptop Like A Dragon Gaiden and Trepang2. Anyone got any impressions on Avatar Frontiers so far?
Will be playing a lot on PS5 this weekend as my PlayStation Portal arrived yesterday! I absolutely love it, the streaming quality is so good! My PS5 is going to get much more attention from here on out thanks to this device.
Anyway, I'll be playing the new Final Fantasy XVI DLC. I'm super excited to start it up as I loved the base game. I'll also be playing DOOM 3 and Tokyo Xanadu on PS5 (and Portal).
My Series X will also get some attention as I'm currently playing through Forza Motorsport (2023), which I'm really enjoying.
I’ll be wrapping up Final Fantasy VII Remake this weekend. Only two chapters to go before I start impatiently waiting for Rebirth to release. Easily my most anticipated game. Well, aside from GTA6 perhaps.
Will be playing both Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Monster Hunter Rise/Sunbreak. Happy gaming all!
Playing Avatar: frontiers of Pandora. It looks amazing, really enjoying it so far. Defo recommend!
Trying out the finals. Its really good and I'm enjoying it. It reminds me of brink on the ps3 and plunder in war zone. Great fun. Have a great weekend folks 👍
Currently playing John Woo's Stranglehold, and I'm having an absolute blast!
Trying to finish a 2nd in depth run of Baldurs Gate 3...this honestly deserves every award its won this week. In 30 yrs of gaming this is simply the finest game ever made. This is a once in a lifetime achievement most devs dream of and I don't think we'll see its like again for a long long time and I'm sure it will influence games for decades to come. In a year of stunning, brilliant games, I didn't think TOTK could be beaten but BG3 has knocked it out of the park
Also playing Spiderman 2 and this definitely DIDNT deserve to win any awards ! It's good fun but a rehashed open world, lots of bugs and lots of bloated filler. When I first had to reroute power generators I literally rolled my eyes in frustration, there was too much of that in the last 2 games ! And Peter Parker is such a limp, wet lettuce of a character.....
Will also play more Halo Infinite with more Starfield - a huge disappointment but weirdly I can't stop playing it
Have a great weekend guys and gals ❤️
The gaming equivalent of the breakfast of champions, Robocop, grandia and power wash simulator
@Zuljaras The 3DS version of Ocarina is the best version and it's a brilliant game still but not a very welcoming one ! Difficult to get into for sure. Stick with it ....but it's certainly aged like a bad curry
AC Mirage - done and platinumed! It really grew on me, liked the story and the gameplay. Nice to get a smaller more focused AC again, as I've said before. Also nice to not have any present day sections for a change. I hope they stick to games like this or for example Unity for future AC games and make the big and bloated games like Valhalla apart from the AC universe as those games would be great as RPGs by themselves and I felt like the AC part of them was more or less just smeared on.
Cyberpunk 2077 - I had to try the latest update 🙂 took the metro to my apartment for a date with Panam ❤️ Just very cool additions which adds a lot to the immersion of the game.
Journey to foundation - despite it being a port which doesnt fully utilise the power of the PSVR 2 (it doesnt look as good and sharp as other games for example) I like the story and the gameplay is good enough if not great. There are better games for the PSVR 2 though, but its a pretty decent game!
Avatar Frontiers of Pandora - I couldnt help myself 😂 Ever since watching the first movie I've wanted a game that lets you explore Pandora and even though I've only played for an hour so far I almost got blown away by how great it looks. Just wonderful! And I havent even played it at night time so looking forward to that. It really is a far cry game though so if you dont like those games chances are you wont really enjoy this one. I've got a feeling I'll love it though. More to follow next week 😀
Chained Echoes — I’m about 30 hours in and I think this is my favourite 2D JRPG since Final Fantasy 6 and Chrono Trigger. I don’t say that lightly. While it’s true I haven’t played THAT many in the last few decades it used to be my favourite genre, but found they became very derivative, didn’t evolve, and didn’t respect my time anymore.
Chained Echoes does a lot of small things right, pushing the genre forwards and feeling fresh while also having heavy nostalgic vibes. Story is great, combat is fun and exploration feels meaningful. Loving it. Amazed that it’s mostly made by one guy. Just hoping it sticks the landing.
Honkai Star Rail — Got Silver Wolf and Lynx on the banner and building my mono-quantum team. But I’ve finished all the content and the upgrades are so slow now, it literally takes days, or maybe even weeks, to upgrade a new character to lv 70-80. Slow train.
@mac_da_man my Mrs has bought me Avatar for Christmas but I keep telling her I want it now dammit !!!!
I’m back from my long weekend away so I’ve heading back to YS lacrimosa of Dana and a bit of the new update from Disney Dreamlight on the side.
Starting Midnight suns. I picked up the ultimate edition in the black Friday sale on a whim.
FFXVI and, as soon as I get confirmation from somewhere that trophies unlock, will buy Resi 4 VR. Might give the demo a go in the meantime.
Edit: PSVR2WithoutParol says you can, which is good enough for me.
Honkai Star Rail, just got Argenti and Hanya on my main account and Silver Wolf and Lynx on my secondary so building/testing them today. Tomorrow I'll be on Ghost of Tsushima starting the Iki Island DLC. Have a good weekend all!
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. Such a lovely looking game.
I will be playing the excellent desperadoes 3.the incredible monster hunter world iceborne master edition.the fantastic weird west.and the amazing ni no kuni wrath of the white witch remastered.my boston Celtics 💚🖤 play and won yesterday.so its all good.i will be watching legendary sitcoms comedy tv 📺 shows in Sanford and son.the Jefferson.good times and saved by the bell.word up son
I dunno. I’m going to be seeing the Boy and the Heron in theaters tomorrow with my family and working today. I’m going to bring my Switch with to work since I’m stuck there all day and will have four hours of downtime. I suppose I’ll probably just play various random indies, maybe something Mario, etc to pass the time.
Meanwhile, for home gaming, I should say I’ll be playing Baldur’s Gate 3, but I fell asleep playing it again, so I’m feeling like maybe I’ll shake things up a bit and add some other titles to the log. I downloaded Bound, Concrete Genie, and Gravity Rush last night. Three games I regret not playing fully, so maybe one of those will stick right away too.
I'm playing Jedi Survivor, but at padawan level because these days, at 53, I can't be bothered with making any games too difficult 🙂 The game seems reasonably fun but suffers from the modern curse of too many cut scenes.
@KingPev lol it must feel like an eternity to christmas 😂
I’m playing Inscryption and a little bit of Dead Cells. Really enjoying Inscryption, but thought I’d like Dead Cells more than I do. Seems like I’m just going through the motions when I play. Maybe I’ll drop it
After finishing Talos Principle 2 I’ve gone back to the original. So good. I platinumed it a few years back and I still want to play it. Might play a bit of sabre and power wash simulator. I’ve only got 10 days left on the subscription. Have a great weekend folks!
On PS5 I'll continue with Alan Wake 2 and Plague Tale Requim really enjoying both. On Xbox i bought Immortals of Aveum for £7.99 but it looks absolutely dreadful on Series s resolution drops to 480p so I'll probably go back to Starfield and try and finally finish it.
Going to be checking out the new update in efootball24 and back to Final Fantasy IX.
I’ve put 10 hours into it so far but I reckon at least 6 of them have been spent playing Tetra Master😂.
@Kyushutrail - Not just me then. On paper Dead Cells is everything I should enjoy but that game is absolutely soulless. Getting a death in stuff like Binding of Isaac or Hades always gives me that 'one more run' vibe, Dead Cells just makes me turn it off. Really wanted to like that game but it doesn't click at all for me.
@mac_da_man yeah I feel like an excited 5 yr old 😅😅
I just started the epilogue in Baldur's Gate.
I'll do this then get back to chasing the plat in Hogwarts.
Still in Night City replaying Cyberpunk 2077. Good times...
Playing Sable from this month's PS Plus selection. Pretty good game although has a few frame rate issues which shouldn't really happen in a game like this on a PS5. Sill slowly working may way AC Valhalla and have reached Cent. I'll be playing this game for months.
Lots of BG3 and Lords of Fallen for me.
Honestly though I’m killing time until I can NG+ Alan Wake 2.
I may also PowerWash simulate this weekend and check out a few smaller titles. We shall see!
Just finished Miles Morales; just like S-M1 a fun little inbetween game. I started replaying Gran Turismo 7 today (after being grumpy for having to create a whole new PS profile in order to start a new game) and will possibly start with Alan Wake 1 this weekend to see if AW2 will be my type of game.
Well this weekend it will be some more bg3 havent really had time so far so going to put a bit into that. Also saw that resi 4 was on sale did have 5 in credit for rewards so got it for 18 and going to play it in vr, havent played resi4 since it was released so looking forward to get back into it one of my favourites
Ice Age Village (Windows Phone) - My wife is mostly playing this with me in tandem.
Chickens Can't Fly (Windows Phone) - Slowly nearing the end now.
Plants vs. Zombies (Windows Phone) - One of my all time favourite phone games right here! Made it to the roof levels now.
This weekend I’ll be out of town. Last Sunday was my one year anniversary with my wife, and even though we celebrated, my gift is taking place this weekend. I have a surprise Christmas oriented trip for us planned.
As for what I’ve played throughout the week, I completed my New Game run in Lies of P and got the “best” ending. I’m currently working on NG+ and should get the platinum trophy.
Surprisingly, I’m still enthralled just as much as I was from the beginning. And since I never replay games unless it’s years down the line, I think that says something. I also don’t have to fight the Nameless Puppet anymore, so that’s a huge plus. Overall, LoP has solidified itself as my GOTY.
I also purchased RoboCop: Rogue City, and it’s definitely AA at its finest. It’s arcade-y, totally late 80s, features a plethora of quirky one-liners, and actually not half bad. It’s the epitome of a 6-7/10 game. The game is a total fan service, and if you’re not a fan of the franchise I wouldn’t recommend it. Personally, I’m enjoying the game so much I decided to buy Terminator Resistance since the enhanced edition is on sale.
The game operates best when you’re in tight spaces and corridors, primarily because Old Detroit seems more alive. There are buildings overrun by “criminal scum”, and walls littered with graffiti and bullet holes. It reminds me of Fallout 3, with its color palette and moment to moment gunplay which is quite visceral.
I was hoping to have the game beaten before leaving on my trip, but that didn’t pan out. I tend to play games very slow and diligently — searching every nook and cranny, and not sprinting to objective after objective, so the game is taking me longer than your average person. With that being said, all I have to do is finish the main story and I’ll get the platinum trophy.
I Finished reading Slaughterhouse 5 this morning and have started Of Mice & Men. Might turn on the PS5 or switch later this evening but I think I'm more in a film mood.
How some of you guys juggle so many games at anyone time astounds me.
Got my platinum on Robocop this week, great game, proper fan service stuff!!
I am now chilling with Humanity, got real Lemmings vibes, really good game and addicted to getting my goldies
Happy gaming folks!
I'll be jumping into the unexpected Final Fantasy XVI DLC today after work. Any excuse to play XVI again is a good excuse. Happy gaming everybody!
@Kraven Congratulations!!! 🥳🥳 Tuesday gone was my wife and I's 2nd Anniversary.
Yesterday I played a lot of Final Fantasy XVI and a few chapters of Uncharted 1 Rem. . I will travel today and only return in the monday (gonna attend a concert of the heavy metal band Angra), so no gaming to me for the rest of the weekend. See you soon folks!!
Think I’ll go back to WWE 2K23. I’m in the mood for it.
Finally getting around to Cult of the Lamb. What a fun time!
On PS5 i will be playing Legend of Nayuta which has been great so far and is making me want to try more older jrpgs. I will also be playing Nier Automata and some Monster Hunter Rise
On Switch I will be continuing with Mario RPG, currently 6 hours in and have 4 stars which makes me think this is quite a short game. I will also be starting Zelda Links Awakening later tonight, I've got a strategy guide my partner can read to me so I don't miss anything 😂.
@homelesscretin Wow - I haven’t heard about this game in a long time. Great choice - the game is fantastic!
@mac_da_man I’ve constantly been debating myself over AC Mirage. I might have to pick it up. How hard was the platinum?
@themightyant I think Chained Echoes is sublime! And without giving away any spoilers, I think the ending sticks the landing, and all of the stories get wrapped up in some form or another from each individual character.
@Kraven the platinum was easy and pretty straightforward. An ejoyable game and platinum trophy 🙂
RE4 VR and GT7.
@Kraven More games need bullet time man. The only ones I can think of are Max Payne 3, Wet, and vanquish. Shooting dudes in slow mo never gets old😂.
Also the stand offs in stranglehold man😂😂. Good sh*t.
I don't have much playing time in the coming weeks. I'll try to make some more progress in the faction quest lines in Starfield, and really want to finish the Cyberpunk DLC on PS5.
I was planning on playing Avatar this weekend but I’ve mostly been playing LEGO Fortnite. I think I’ll be playing a lot of LEGO Fortnite going forward. Already played 10-15 hours so far - it’s so addictive. Seems to have been a huge success too - there have been at least 2 million players every time I’ve logged in since launch.
I’m also chipping away at the new Dreamlight Valley expansion and Christmas Star Path. The new island is amazing. Hope there are more expansions in the future.
Finally, Disney Speedstorm and the new Frozen season. Only started playing this game last month but it’s really fun. I don’t usually enjoy racing games but this one is great.
Battlefield V, some Dead Space Remake….and I’m gonna try and beat Gorefist in the first Remnant game
Pc- just cause 2, stalker
Xbox- Halo infinite, dark pictures the devil in me
Ps5 - forspoken
I'll be tangled within a web of lies and deceit, and helping a local fixer plot a course of politics in Phantom Liberty.
Hooked on rocket league racing game in Fortnite. It’s outstanding.
@Loamy sorry for your loss
Lego 2K drive and Sable. Lego 2k is fun, good in short bursts.
Sable's a decent game but frame rates iffy but it's worth a try.
Trying to decide if should get Tunic while on offer or not, like the look of it but put off by not having any English language in map and guide etc. Tad pretentious if you ask me
I'm just messing around on EAFC, The Crew Motorfest and Lego Drive.
Not wanting to get into anything, got a busy week ahead so not a lot of free time. Finish up for 3 weeks later this week, that's when I'm gonna restart BG3 and commit my time to that.
Still on with Act 3 of BG3, haven't had much time during the week to make progress.
I'm also on No Man's Sky for the Expedition re-run, I missed a few of them and it'd be nice to have all the trinkets and decorations for my main game file. (man I cannot wait for Light No Fire)
Continuing my second playthrough of BG3. Just got to act 3.
@AgentMantis Unexpectedly, Midnight Suns was one of my favorite games I played this year. The combat is fantastic. The stuff in the Abbey gets a little long, but there is also a lot for comics nerds like me to love in those sections. Enjoy!
Started Alan wake. Still plays like a ps3 game.
I don't hate it. Definitely not in my top 100. Maybe not top 1000 😆
Still going through shotgun king for trophies.
Well this has been one heck of a week I’ll tell ya what. Thinking this is gonna be a big entry this week in more ways then one. Well to start with similar to Jim I have also been on a video game wrap up spree. In the past week I beat Warioware Move It, Spider-Man 2, Super Mario Wonder, Pikmin 4 and The Teal Mask DLC. Not to mention as a preview of the upcoming gaming plans I got close to the end of Alan Wake II and Final Fantasy XVI. So this week I’m thinking of taking a break from the switch. I did play some Super Mario RPG on Friday and am probably closing in on the end of that game too but I’m thinking of devoting more time to the PS5 this week. Work on beating my top two GOTYs, Alan Wake II and FFXVI and definitely try out some new games I got this week like Assassins Creed Mirage and a special game I’ll mention later. Tho I am thinking of tackling the Sonic Frontiers DLC today since they apparently patched it to make it easier. Oh i also do wanna give the Indigo Disk DLC that comes out this week for Scarlet and Violet a look too. I definitely wanna be able to put together my GOTY list, my movies list and my animes list by Christmas. Also no lie not picky on the platform but I definitely wanna look at getting a copy of Dave the Diver. I went from not really caring about it to thinking it’s kinda cool and I wanna play. But oh man the big news of the week sure we’re those game awards huh? I won’t blab on and on but I would say it was a A- this year seriously some great things there. For me personally I loved the FFXVI and FFVII Rebirth Trailers, the Blade Trailer, SEGA IS BACK, the Alan Wake performance and of course number bloody one the ELPHELT VALENTINE TRAILER MY BABY IS BACK. Of course there were some out now trailers there and that leads to the pickups of the week with that special game I mentioned. I of course grabbed the FFXVI Echoes of the Fallen DLC and my babygirl Elphelt but I also snagged the Deluxe Edition of Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising. Won’t have to think about buying DLC for that game for a while yessir. Excited for that game and it’s early access starting tomorrow. Of course anime of the week gotta go to Jujutsu Kaisen and Eminence in Shadow for continuing to just absolutely kill it. Podcasts of course are same as usual Castle Superbeast, Big Think Dimension, Remap Radio, RPGsites Tetracast, Nextlander and Into The Aether. But with the Jirard the Completionist accusations cleared in his innocence I can now also go back to shouting out Friends Per Second again. Speaking of shoutouts last but absolutely certainly not least I wanna give a big and special shout-out to a friend of mine. Anyone reading this who sees this before December 14th please please go to twitch.tv/akibread my friend is having a 12 hour redebut stream please go show them some love. As always y’all have a excellent week, best of luck with y’all own GOTY lists and Happy Gaming.
I’ve been playing Return to Moria with my girlfriend. We’re definitely enjoying it despite the mixed reviews but it definitely needs some patches to smoothen out the bugs and tighten the combat. I don’t get how the game has streaming and frame rate problems when you are confined to small areas.
Resi 4 Remake VR.... really enjoyed the remake but didnt quite adore it ... probably because id just finished Village VR and Resi 4 on Quest 2 which really raised the bar for me. Hard to enjoy flat games as much. Resi 4 Remake is absolutely incredible in VR!! All the gorgeous 4K detail in VR. Not sure why theres a luck of launch reviews/coverage this weekend coz its by far the best game ive played in ages. Stunning!!
@Loamy sorry to hear that. Always a shame losing someone but much worse if taken before their time.
