Last week, following The Game Awards 2024, we asked the Push Square community to vote on what they thought was the best announcement of the whole show.
Almost 2,000 votes were cast, split across 20 PS5-related reveals.
So, without further ado, here are the top ten best announcements from The Game Awards 2024 — as voted by you!
10. Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound - 26 votes (1%)
9. Split Fiction - 66 votes (4%)
8. Project Century - 67 votes (4%)
7. Mafia: The Old Country - 68 votes (4%)
6. Elden Ring: Nightreign - 82 votes (5%)
5. Project Robot - 86 votes (5%)
4. Onimusha: Way of the Sword - 132 votes (7%)
3. Okami Sequel - 156 votes (9%)
It doesn't have a date, we don't know which platforms it's coming to, and there's been no mention of its potential development cycle, but Okami is finally getting a sequel, and that's enough!
The original Okami released for the PS2 all the way back in 2006, and it's crazy to think that such a beloved property has gone almost two decades without a proper follow-up.
But between this and Onimusha: Way of the Sword, it's clear that Capcom's more than ready to dip into its back catalogue of fan-pleasers. We can't wait to see more this inevitably gorgeous adventure.
2. The Witcher 4 - 362 votes (20%)
Tearing into second place with a whopping 20% of the vote is The Witcher 4, which got a superb CG reveal trailer at Geoff Keighley's event, packed with cool reveals, bloody action, and emotional storytelling.
Because CD Projekt Red is always so public with its plans, we've known about The Witcher 4 for quite some time — but still, its official announcement caught many by surprise.
Given that The Witcher 3 is widely regarded as one of the best RPGs ever made, it's easy to understand the excitement for its sequel. And while there are certain concerns surrounding Ciri's promotion to protagonist — mostly from a writing and lore standpoint — it's hard to imagine the Polish studio dropping the ball on this one.
1. Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet - 632 votes (36%)
The final announcement of The Game Awards 2024, we finally got to see what Naughty Dog's been working on for all these years.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet got a pretty lengthy reveal trailer, introducing us to a retro-sci-fi setting in which you play as no-nonsense bounty hunter Jordan. Following on from The Last of Us, it's a bold step in an entirely new direction for the legendary PlayStation Studio.
We don't really know how far out Intergalactic is in terms of release, but Sony tends to only show its hand when projects are fairly close to completion. 2025 feels like a push — especially with Ghost of Yotei scheduled for next year — while 2026 seems more than reasonable.
In any case, you lot loved this announcement. Intergalactic ended up with more votes than most of the top ten put together. A clear winner.

Still unclear as to why we couldn't vote for Dispatch.
After all the vitriol about it online, it’s nice to see actual gamers provide some real perspective on Intergalactic.
Onimusha, Okami and Ninja Gaiden were the picks for me 😎
With how much damage The Last of Us 2’s pre-release leak caused and the fact that ND has made the point that this has been in development for 4 years, I can’t help but wonder if Intergalactic is actually a lot closer than we might think.
Crazy how the truth can set you free.
Also, Onimusha fam, we did it!
Naughty Dog Days! Can’t wait for Intergalactic
@colonelkilgore There has been vitriol? Is it because of the female protagonist? I really enjoyed the trailer and am looking forward to a new Naughty Dog IP. It's been so long....
Well done ND, nearly double the votes of the nearest other.
People really voting two trailers with almost zero gameplay. 😂
Project Century was the only one that actually caught my interest. Obviously The Witcher 4 is hype but unless the combat is dramatically improved over TW3 I'm on the fence.
And I'm sure the ew Ninja Gaiden by the Blasphemous devs will be a banger
Other than those though almost all of the reveals were pretty mid for me.
For me easily Onimusha coming back ^__^😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
@colonelkilgore too right mate!!
Game awards was what the game industry needed, A LOT of great games, but Intergalactic will be a game of generation, with ND working on it all this time
@Majin_Deicide same, project Century looked the best imo.
Glad that the PlayStation maximalists have something to hold on to with intergalactic. That and yotei do look amazing in the 1st party action adventure roster.
@Jey887 yup mate, female, skinhead, product placement and Concord were the main culprits
Mafia Old Country was actually announced at summer games fest or whatever that other dorito pope show is called. Would've been hyped about Okami 2, but it sure sounds like it's many years away.
@Lup
Yes, these are cinematic trailers, not gameplay trailers. It's ok to have both and we will see gameplay when the time is right.
I'm unbelievably hyped for project century despite having only played 1 game from the studio ever lol. Witcher 4 wasn't exactly a new announcement but it was nice to see a trailer for it. It was actually a really well put trailer
And character design aside, intergalactic was actually pretty interesting. The dialogue between the 2 characters we saw never felt... how should I put it. Like hr was in the room? And ending it with the clash against the scary looking robot was nice
I'm a big fan of The Witcher books, but so far I only played the first game all the way back in 2007. The trailer for the new game got me excited though, time to clear my schedule and catch up!
Witcher, Mafia and Elden Ring for me.
Onimusha the way of the sword and mafia the old country oh yeah.word up son
Not enough gameplay for me, but that's the Keighley's lots of cinematic trailers and "get hyped its coming in 3+ years" type announcements They were awesome though
Okami (probably the longest out) FTW.
That 6 minute Witcher trailer was better than the entire Netflix Witcher series.
@colonelkilgore "gamers" ok lol
Onimusha forst for me. Then Intergalactic, then maybe the Okami sequel
I’ll be honest, I don’t really get the hate on Intergalactic. The trailer gave me sort of Alien meets Cowboy Bebop vibes and I’m all there for everything about it. Man, I hope that one’s another one next year. Totally fine with having more games that look more personally exciting to me than GTA6 on the docket.
And man I do with Project Robot felt closer. See you for the PS6, Ueda!
Onimusha by a landslide for me, then Intergalactic.
@J_e_f_f__D so you’re saying the good-users of Push Square shouldn’t be considered gamers? Interesting 🤔
I know Project Robot won't be out for years and years, but I can't wait to know more. 🥳
Okami 2 is like obscure Half-Life 3. The Witcher 4 was already announced. And Intergalactic was a forgone conclusion.
What I'm saying is: WHY DIDN'T YOU PEOPLE VOTE FOR OKAMI 2?! A sequel 20 years in the making bringing back its original creator (who is one of Japan's great video game auteurs — it's not just Kojima) isn't a good enough announcement for you people?
I couldn't care less about a bald head and some product placement. But excitement for a trailer with basically no gameplay in it? Nah. Sorry. Plenty of naff games had a great trailer to it. I will reserve judgement until I see some meat.
I mean, obviously the readers of a PlayStation journalism site would vote for the PlayStation game.
Dino Crisis.....oh wait....😭
Left and right pic, yes. Middle pic looks like something from a joke Chris Rock would get slapped over.
