If you are anything like us then over the last nine years you’ve likely enjoyed countless playthroughs of Naughty Dog’s PlayStation classic, The Last Of Us. But that doesn’t stop us from being incredibly excited by the prospect of the full PS5 remaking which is making its way to us on 2nd September.
As one of the greatest stories to ever grace the medium, naturally there are quite a few memorable moments across its 15 or so hour campaign. There is heartbreak, action, horror, and wholesome moments-a-plenty, and each promises to be made all the better with an overhaul to gameplay, the inclusion of haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, and of course those gorgeous graphics.
The whole prospect had us reminiscing about our favourite moments from the game, and if you head on over to the Push Square YouTube channel, you can find seven of those moments that we’ve picked out as the best!
The remastered version of the game on PS4 is already an absolute stunner, but it will be interesting to see how the entire experience is amplified thanks to the power of the PS5. With the small comparisons we’ve seen so far, it’s already shaping up to be the best looking game on the console, and the idea of revitalised gameplay could seriously shake it all up in a massive way.
Let us know some of the moments you are particularly excited to replay in the upcoming remake! We know there are plenty of cracking levels and scenes that weren’t included in this list, but we had to stop somewhere before just listing the entire thing from start to finish!

The giraffes, all day long.
Can't say without spoilers...
Just seeing Joel again is enough....
The Prologue is #1 for me. One of the best (if not THE best) ever. That opening (showing the panic, confusion and chaos as everything goes to hell) was better than anything I’ve ever seen in any movie of the same genre. Incredible.
@BritneyfR_ee yeah the news on the TV instantly followed by the explosion outside & the guy at the back door was awesome
This whole game blew me away when I played it on release on the PS3. I never cried from a video game before, it was so moving. While I agree that 70 is a lot to ask for the game, when it gets lower in price, I can't wait to play through this masterpiece again
I’m super excited to explore this world again. Hopefully the platinum is achievable in two playthroughs like Part 2 was. But, I won’t be buying this at full price. I’ll wait until it goes down to $30 then gladly buy it. If it was Part 3, that’s a Day 1 buy. My moment is basically going through Boston because that’s where I live. So I loved that section of the game personally!
@BritneyfR_ee. Wheres justin Timberlake huh Britney Spears.anyways that why single player games are always the best.a multiplayer game.could have never do this.and yeah it does rival some of the best movies story ever.word up son
@riceNpea omg yes that will be the best momment and in true 4k with out the ps3 textures
Judging by this it’s clearly time for a full remake of the last of us 2
You can't ever fall in love for the first time again. When this comes to ps+ I will check it out. I was unimpressed by the remaster. PS3 version (for its time and the platform) was and still is way more impressive. Even TLOUp2 was not that technically impressive given the platform. Sure, I'm jaded and I see through ND's smoke and mirrors but the absolute "WTF! How can this run on this box and look so good" of TLOU on ps3 will not be achieved with this "remake".
When Ellie is half drown and Joel is trying to resuscitate her, those fanatics come up and just knock him out without any respect for either of them. Joel wakes up and learns Ellie is going to be butchered by some crazy random surgeon with some crazy theory about getting a cure out of her brain and don’t even have the decency to let her prepare herself to leave this world.
A world that waited 20 years but, somehow, instead of trying proper science and study her for a while ye know, went for non sense rush in the next hour to try squeeze a child’s brain in the hope of getting something out of it because she is the best specimen they could find after failing with other specimen before.
It feels weird that at the time my daughter was just a toddler but now she s about the same age as Sarah and Ellie. People saying Joel was ‘selfish’ are out of their mind. I hope they don’t change the original facts.
So many great moments in this game.
I haven’t played TLoU part I since 2016, so around six years ago. It’s going to be a great nostalgia trip for me to go through it again.
Lots of great moments but the one I always remember (gameplay wise) is the part when you play as Ellie and stealthily take down a whole group of goons in the cabins with the bow.
70 quid to play as bad ass Joel again! Bargain! Surprisingly for some, It's the Ellie winter gameplay that I'm mostly looking forward to in the new engine. I thought the snow environments in TLOU2 were excellent.
Prologue! Easily caught me and roped me into the game. I don't think it's as amazing as everyone suggests though, I'm probably in the minority, but I'd say it's slightly over rated.
@Texan_Survivor The gameplay should be improved so It's still worth a playthrough. Don't take the stories too seriously.
@Texan_Survivor Alternate timeline 😁
The first game exists in its own timeline for me. The second game is just some nightmare, ‘What If?’ scenario.
The best part is you don’t have to wait! Since it’s already available in PS3, PS4 and PS5 🤣
@BritneyfR_ee I had never been so emotional during the intro of a game. I immediately knew this game was gonna be something special.
Not looking forward to the sniper in the street bit, I got stuck on that for ages many moons ago.
Totally agree with the comments about the start of the game, amazing piece of storytelling.
Oh PushSquare CAN definitely wait to play. Then they forget about it in 3 days and start hyping the next big thing in same fashion. Oh I know y'all.
Was it only 15 hours, amazing beginning and end but I feel the middle dragged a bit
Is the 2nd game to this you play as the girl throughout the game?
Looking forward to the intro again
@riceNpea what would be really impressive is if you could hear their knees clicking as they walked by, maybe with 3d audio.
The original is definitely better, the remake has been dominated by political correctness
@BritneyfR_ee Agreed I was without froend watching her play and was stunned by how well done that was
