So Im setting up the psvr today. I only have the free psplus games (Rush of blood and rigs). Im gonna buy superhot also.
Im pretty worried by the box. Its got 3 sections!
Any tips on setting it up? I dont need hdr passthrough as my tv has capitulated in 4k and hdr modes as its a cheap phillips 4k tv and is much more stable in 1080p so Im sticking with that.

Its easy to set up. Everything has numbers on it. I have not got one but there is a cable called mcable (crazy expensive) but it improves the visuals on the PSVR. No idea how it works though. So might be worth considering in the future. Nothing to do with the TV but it has some kind of chip in the cable that performs some magic. There are lots of games on sale right now for PSVR. Also do the eye distance measurement it should make the image clearer. Its in the settings.
I would say the biggest thing I would warn you about it NOT using lense wipes on the lenses. Its on page 14 but really should be somewhere more obvious. Apparently you can not use any chemicals on the lenses at all. This includes alchol based wipes. Which makes no bloody sense. As the lenses get smeared with marks and all you do is move the marks around with the provided cloth.
You will grin like a cheshire cat when you start playing on PSVR. But remember where you put your controler before you put on the PSVR or you will be feeling around like a blind man trying to find it lol
@dryrain cheers bro thats some pretty solid advice. I can play comfortably enough I just wish there was a way to leverage the bottom front of the headset down. It keeps coming up ever so slightly and makes the screen just that little bit blurry and a smidge out of focus.
Also Ive had to mince around with my front room setup but thats a minor issue tbf.
headmaster demo was absolutely amazing! I also really enjoyed the pong in 3d game (destruction ball or something).
Eve Valkyrie demo and luge on vr worlds are not my cup of tea. They give me a headache and must be the motion sickness issue.
Im going to check on this mcable now!

I tried PSVR for the first time a couple of nights ago. Had a great time with Rush of Blood and The Getaway. Seriously considering getting it now. The only problem is that after just 15 minutes I could feel that my eyes were getting tired.
@Wesker I started the getaway and the family rolled in. Language and content were a bit unsuitable for new years day!
I never had the issue of my eyes getting tired. Im semi used to staring at a screen most of the day so that probably helps.
Gonna buy superhot and play a bit more later and show the wife the underwater shark thing. I wish it didnt have the title shark attack! It would have been a nice surprise. Not that ive told her lol.

@themcnoisy Haha. Yeah my GF was next on the VRodeo and our hosts gave her shark attack. She was loving it up until that point, but when the shark came for her she was done, lol, ripped it off her face.
@Wesker It sounds like a cop out, but you do build up a tolerance to the eye tiredness the more you use it. I don't think VR is ever going to be something you can "veg out" with for a dozen hours a day because it's so much more intense than staring at a TV, but you can definitely build up to multi-hour sessions (depending on the game).
@get2sammyb unbelievably Sammy I actually read that a few days ago. I cant buy superhot as I dont have the move controllers unfortunately, it says on the item description in the ps store they are mandatory.
Ive spent the last 3 hours on static at number 9 on the list. If thats number 9 the other 8 must be the best games ever invented. Its absolutely outstanding. I will never see the ds4 in the same light ever again.
Strangely the 2 parts Ive got stuck on are actually sections were I was thinking too much, the first section with the water blocks (I thought it had something to do with the light emanating from the table) and the last third of the compass directions, degrees and lights on the 4 screens (I was looking for a pattern in the coloured writing when that was a red herring and you just had to try all combinations as quick as possible).
Brilliant bit of kit. I just wish it didnt look a mess by the tv.
@MadAussieBloke Im unlikely to grab one of the mcables. They look great. Its just I wont use the psvr all the time, Ive literally booked a day off from life to make the most of it. At £120 its too much for me. Luckily I already have monitor headphones - stupidly I started using them whilst playing the scary haunted house game from the igc, blood something. Thats the absolute worst experience of my life. Im not into jump scare horror films so you can imagine how that went! Now I need those new underpants I got for chrimbo.

As the indie darling I am, I would recommend Bound (I think it was free on PS Plus a few months ago). On non-VR it is average but the world and music in VR are, to my mind, takes it to another level. Not much gameplay to be honest but it just feels quite unique on VR.
I am not a huge horror fan but I loved Rush of Blood even if I spent half the time cringing. I found it worked really well with the move controllers. They aren't great, but the Move controllers really do make some games better.
Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot
@get2sammyb That's good to hear. PSVR is awesome. I was sitting there at a table in the back of a pub fiddling with bits and pieces, lighting a cigar and blowing out the smoke. It felt like the real thing. I feel misled by the internet that told me the fidelity of PSVR was too low and the tracking of the Move controllers was laggy and jittery. That's just not the case. Of course we'll see improvements, but this is a great start.
@Wesker You have to be careful about liars on the internet especially in comments and over emphasizing. Im pretty sure most of the negative comments are from people who dont own a unit and probably havent played it. Once I gave a couple of demo units a try at egx 2 years ago I knew it was the future. Its so good.
Its so good on vr done well your eyes dont care about the relatively low resolution. I got so into statik I was in the room with my hands trapped in a box. You do start noticing the lack of peripheral vision, but not enough to pull you out of the experience and playing with 3d audio on psvr is insane!
For one I would take yesterday of psvr bliss ahead of any day gaming Ive played this year. Including Horizon, Yakuza and Mario Odyssey. The only downside and it is a big downside is the crazy setup and terrible headphones (mine were broke have a mark 1 psvr). And a big one is I need a way to push the bottom of the screen like 2mm closer to my eyes. The band only tightens around the top of your eyes.

@themcnoisy Probably for the best - I went down a few notches in my wife's estimation when she saw me using the light up dildo sticks when I was playing The London Heist. I thought I was cool reloading the guns - turned out I just looked like I was rubbing off a rampant rabbit.
Alas no, because the Aim controller is one handed.
@ MadAussieBloke Good call on Starship Troopers, it really reminded me of that, especially with the swarms surging towards you.

@themcnoisy I really enjoyed my time with Farpoint. It lacked a bit in the gameplay department, but the aim controller more than made up for it.
I was really surprised how well done the animations were. Really added to the immersion. Hope you enjoy it!
