Topic: Cross platform play; the poisoned chalice

So over the last few weeks I have been playing Rocket League again. But when playing against PC players there are some questionable skills on show which would slot into the greatest goals complilations on youtube. They are clearly smurf accounts and ruin the game. I am playing as part of a 3 and mates from work for some history and when playing against other ps4 players have decent games. Enter the PC players and they are flying around like a binge on redbull.

I have always wanted cross platform play, yet at the risk of sportmanship, fair play and a level playing field I would now rather stick to PS4 players only. What are your thoughts?

@themcnoisy PC will always have the edge when it comes to gaming which is why alot of gamers have made the move to PC gaming. A controller cannot compete with a mouse and keyboard that's just a fact. That's the main reason FPS games like CoD don't do cross platform with PC.

Now I wouldn't mind cross platform with MS or Nintendo but yeah PC not unless I am playing on a PC.

Yeah I would agree. I would also say as well that there are also more ways to cheat on PC which isn't as easy as on console (mods etc.). I know a lot of publishers and devs crackdown heavily on cheating but it does still happen. Plus better performance on high powered machines as well could give a competetive edge. I think cross play on consoles should be the norm but hey, console wars.

@themcnoisy There's also every chance that you're running in to high level players - I have, more than once. Take note of their usernames and google them to check.

@Tasuki Depends on the game, but quite right regarding FPS.
I'd take a loot at some of the high level console/pad Rocket League players like Squishy. Rocket League takes a lot of practice and skill to be really, good at. The ones who are really do feel like you're playing against cheaters! lol

@KALofKRYPTON Nah we were facing off against Rookies and semi pros on dummy accounts. Air dribbles and ridiculous planned team goals. This happened 3x times last night and albeit wasnt the worst thing in the world, this kind of crap has stopped my teammates making gold rank which we are capable of against PS profiles.

@Tasuki @Rudy_Manchego Totally agree, the cheating and advantages are too much of a game changer.

to be honest i don't think crossplatform play is really needed, the whole reason many people buy a closed system like a PS4 or XB1 is because they want to play on it and use it's services

while it could be a nice bonus i just don't think it's that important, just like MODs, never saw the point in them either, you play a game to experience the game and what the creators intended and the same with crossplay, you get a PS4 to get the PlayStation experiance not the XBOX or P.C one

did that make sense, i'm currently on my medication and it can make it hard to focus

@RogerRoger yeah there is that issue too, with how different the systems can be and what they can do it could cause a lot of issues

of course that could be why Sony isn't doing it, perhaps they are afraid of damaging their service or perhaps they CAN'T do it, maybe they can't link PSN to the other services

Like others have said I'm not against it but just like backwards compatibility, for me it not a necessity of owning a console, it would only be a bonus. I think recently it is just something the media like to bang the drum against Sony. Of course they hardly ever present a balanced side to things, not mentioning the cons others have on here.
