I cannot believe the lack of control in this 'game' I've enjoyed it so far and the graphics (most times) are amazing and being based in the countryside its a nice change of pace. What are everyone thoughts? there's no doubt the narration and setup are first class but the gameplay is like walking around an edit level of unreal ed with no bots or players active.

@themcnoisy: you're right, that's not a game. "Everybody's Gone to the Rapture", however...

@iDangerMouse_: Yeah, its a little slow paced ain't it..lovely graphics and atmosphere, but almost no object interactivity -And theres no turning off the intermittent music which i dont like, and its very dialogue heavy..In short,I'm disappointed -Not 'cos "its not a game" (i love walking simulator as a genre) But due to said features.Meh.
Playing through it again and now that I know the map a little I'm having more fun. Gonna go for all the maps trophy first as well as breaking into the caravans.
I glitched out of the game yesterday it was quite funny. I love the atmosphere but wish there was a bit more interactivity, but I think its limited as you are an

You can't look at it as a game. If you do it automatically limits the experience. I see it as a interactive story, which is extremely well written, with both pace and empathy as you learn more about the main characters.
@Tasuki:
That's what I'm doing, waiting for it to be one of the free PS Plus games. I have a feeling it's going to happen relatively quickly also. Seems like it was really hyped leading up to release and now it's been all but forgotten. Everybody is talking about Until Dawn and looking forward to the holiday rush set to begin with MGS V.
@Gamer83: Cant disagree there, rapture is actually loads of fun, the writers and voice actors have done well. Also as someone who lived in the countryside up until 20 months ago it does hit home.
But when the behemoth that is mgs hit, well every other game has to stand up and look as mgs5 is up there with mgs1 and mgs3 as a potential top 5 game of the generation. Rapture looks daft in comparison.

Interesting read. I really wonder how many reviewers wish they could go back and reassess their scores with a few days or weeks hindsight.
I also wonder if, before pressing publish, they double check what everyone else is saying, just to make sure they aren't way off the mark? HMMMmmm...
See, here's the unspoken thing about reviewing games. When you're a professional games journalist - which I no longer am, alas, because I am neither young nor cool and nobody's asked me to be - it's important to have the strength of your convictions.
Changing your mind, reversing your opinion, and admitting you were wrong, is harder to do when A) You're being paid for your supposedly professional and informed opinion, and B) You're a bit younger than you are now, and you think admitting you're not perfect is a sign of weakness.
In case you're wondering, he scored it a 9.31241254 out of 12.344411/4214 in his review.
@kyleforrester87: The second half of the article is practically what I jotted down when I started the thread (see comment 1)
The first half was a confession that he scored a game wrong when he re ran the events over in his head. I seen all of those things first time out and more - you can't miss them. But the game is still a must play whatever the hell it is - but I won't be so enthusiast to buy the Chinese rooms next game.

It was only 11 quid at launch with PS plus discount, it wasn't expensive if you compare the dregs we got in the order 1886 for 50 quid, this might be on sale soon ish but not for much less than the launch discount, it also won't be a freebie for a couple of years either.
@kyleforrester87: I haven't read the full article, but I'll respond to the bit you quoted. In regards to looking at what everyone else scored it, it's impossible when you're under embargo. In the instances where we're later than the embargo, I never read other reviews before writing my own. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to avoid scores.
Also, it's only natural that opinions change over time. I disagree with the notion that this happens over the course of weeks, though — more like years. Would I, for example, give PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale a 9/10 today? Probably not.
Our rule on Push Square with scoring has always been that if we're unsure, we go a point lower.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi: I picked up the order for £22 and loved it although I spent around half the game enjoying the camera mode. I will send you the pics later as they are class.

For me this is one of my favourite experiences on PS4 so far. I liked the pace of it and the graphics were good. Its more of a story which you float through rather than a game. You can do what you want when you want there is no set way to play it. I am glad I bought this game and got it on the first day of release. It might end up as a free game but glad I supported the developer. I can understand why people may not like it but thats what reviews are for
Even a proverbial "walking simulator" is a game. It may be a genre that you don't like but we have to respect other people's rights to like stupid.... I mean different things
i love my action games etc but i'm really enjoying rapture, its slow but mysteriously enticing with its drip feed events...of course with no status bar I've no idea how far in i am all i know is I've made it to Lizzie's bit and its raining.
