@kyleforrester87: so did i, it was something fresh and i liked that but i love Episode Duscae just a little bit more (but that could be because i have waited so long for it that when i finally got to play a version even a Prologue/Demo it was a fantastic experience, the world looks beautiful, i like the characters and i liked the battle system although it could use a little polish there)

@Wesker: Most likely, or Witcher. Although Fallout has the benefit of being fresher in everybodies minds. I don't rate either of them, myself, Witcher 3 was simply good as far as I'm concerned, and I've not played Fallout just yet Of the big three, which includes those two and Bloodborne, my vote would goto Bloodborne.
@kyleforrester87: I thought you said Witcher was aces! Of the big three, that's the only one I haven't played. Between Bloodborne and Fallout 4, I'd have to go with Fallout 4. Maybe because it's fresher in my memory, but I really enjoy the freedom, exploration and open-endedness of that game. Both are great games though!
@Wesker: Witcher 3 is good, thats why I reckon it'll be game of the year, I played it for 50-60 hours but got bored and havn't gone back. I did the same with Skyrim, and honestly I expect I'll do the same with Fallout. I havn't even cleared MGS5 yet. A game has to have a certain something to keep me interested past the 80 hour mark it would seem, and then it doesn't seem right for me to declare game of the year to one I haven't actually completed lol. But in terms of Skyrim/Fallout it's often kind of a case of playing until you feel you've had enough and feel you've seen it all, really.
@kyleforrester87: Yes, I play until I've had enough. I've gotten used to not having to finish games, but still enjoying them. I might never finish Fallout 4.
@Wesker: Yeah.. so when I look back and consider my most complete and satisfying experience out of Witcher 3 and Bloodborne, the answer can only be Bloodborne. Even though I think Witcher is probably the better of the two, if you were to 100% both.
@kyleforrester87: I like the tight controls and basic gameplay loop of Bloodborne, but the lack of variety in surroundings wore me down after a while. You might want to give Fallout 4 a try. Wandering around in that game and making rapid decisions about what your going to do from one moment to the next is the best gameplay experience I've had all year.
The Witcher 3 will be getting my vote. Great story with good side quests, fantastic visuals and combat which is certainly challenging at higher difficulties. Wonderful areas to explore and set a new benchmark in RPG's. It also had an addictive card game in it too.
Batman: Arkham Knight was a very good game - let down by a few repetitive Batmobile missions/quests but that was still fun to drive around Gotham. I was impressed by its visuals and scale too - compared to the others in the series. Despite the fact I think it was the best game to be the Batman in, Its those Batmobile missions that ultimately prevented this from being as great as it could have been. The DLC also left a bit of a bad taste in mine and others mouths.
Much as I have enjoyed and played games like CoD:BO3 and Destiny: The Taken King - both my most played games in terms of pure hours and both improvements over the previous years games, I can't see these winning a GOTY. Whilst they are great fun, they are like the annual summer blockbusters that dominate charts and sales figures but ultimately rarely win Oscars.
I know this is controversial and not necessarily relevant to the Playstation, but another game that I would put in my Top 10 - maybe even Top 5 games of the year is Rise of the Tomb Raider. I really don't agree with the decision to release on Xbox first and will never understand the reason behind it. That being said I know that it will be coming to PS next year and at least many of you can get the opportunity to play this great game.
Its difficult for me to count any of the remasters - like Nathan Drake Collection, as I already played them when they were first released. I know visually they look better etc but that isn't enough to offset that initial experience. Knowing what happens next does take away from it a bit but if you haven't played the Trilogy, I would certainly say its well worth jumping into. It could easily be my GOTY had I not experienced them first hand. Each game was my GOTY (or at least in my Top 2) when originally released.
A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!
Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??
Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...
@Churchy: I think I made a mistake waiting for Axiom Verge to come to the Vita. And Bastion for that matter. I should have just played them on the PS4.
@Wesker: Hey, you waited with good intentions and I can see why though. Axiom Verge would be a good fit for Vita, it's just a shame it hasn't materialised. Luckily Bastion is available for almost every other platform. I would urge you to play Bastion as it's a wonderful game.
