Need to give the ropecaster a go. I beat a Stormbird yesterday. Not actually seen a Thunderjaw yet???

I beat a glinthawk yesterday, then a second one came and picked up and flew off with the body!!!

then I killed that one and another. The tear arrows were gold again, but the ropecaster didn't help as much as I'd hoped.

@Mega-Gazz Yeah I was surprised when the Glinthawk picked up the body of a dead one lol. Fire arrows all the way with Glinthawks, knocks them straight out of the sky.

I am not a fan of the Ropecaster. I have the one that is 'the best' you can buy and so say stronger as it has its own ammunition. I beat a Stormbird but found that was more useless than useful. Maybe I should have used it when its health was a lot lower but I prefer to have an arsenal of damage dealing weaponry. The 3 types of Bow are very useful in most combat. The tear bow isn't always useful against Humans but great for big enemies and very useful for Stalkers (so they can't go invis), ripping off weapons to use against them or to prevent them using them against you, even stopping Stormbirds from flying if you rip off their engines.

With Glinthawks, I go for their belly - knock off their armour and then hit the freeze and they drop out of the sky. Concentration helps a lot. Their are so many great moments that make this world seem more alive - like the Glinthawks carrying off dead robots.

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Only started playing HZD yesterday and have just got to the part where I've lost my Focus device. From what I've seen so far I think I'm going to really enjoy it. Having just got a brand new 49" HDR 4k TV to say the game looks amazing is an understatement. It's look gorgeous!! Photo mode it brilliant. The facial expressions are excellent and the voice acting seems pretty good. i was concerned that I'd find the setting a bit boring compared to the likes of Skyrim or Elder Scrolls, but, the story has got me hooked and I need to know what's going to happen next. For me, that's what makes a great RPG. Something that makes you feel like you're part of something and what you do matters. So far so good

Well judging from the fact that @stupidget started playing yesterday I guess that he means the short moment when it happens very early in the story.

@Lurker Aha, fair enough, I thought he meant he had only started playing it yesterday but played so much of it already that he was ahead of where I was at! Was half kidding anyway, but I see it was my bad

Another thing I like so far in Horizon is the way it handles the open world. I was dreading all the Ubisoft comparisons, but it turned out it's nice and condensed. The map is not littered with the usual pointless junk and even the collectibles are either useful in some way (you can trade them) or give you more information about the lore/world (love vantage points). They even cared enough to make some nice tweaks to the old and tierd formulas of climbing towers and bandit camps (even though the camps look to be the least interesting part of the game I like the inclusion of the character who helps you).

I like the bandit camps! Mostly because you basically get to be batman and I liked the Arkham series. Hey, they should totes make a batman costume DLC.

So, Hardpoint arrows vs tearblast? Any thoughts? Seems like the hardpoint (I haven't tried yet) are cheaper, more spammable, and almost as much tear damage? And would free up a slot for another weapon type?

@Mega-Gazz I find they both have their uses depending on the enemy. Tearblast are for ripping key components off the machines (like that machine gun), while hardpoints are for sniping and long range damage. Two different applications. Good luck!

@Mega-Gazz Tear Blast Arrows don't do a lot of damage so you can't rely on them to kill an enemy but if you want to disarm one, rip off their armour, they are excellent. When I come up against a Thunderjaw for example, the first thing I do, is rip off the Disc Launchers with Tear Blast arrows. They are perfect for taking out shell walkers shield and removing the 'shell' too. Great for removing the stealth generators on Stalkers too.

Hard point Arrows are the best for actual damage and I switch to these to kill anything. I use the standard arrows for hunting animals (boars, foxes etc)

@Kyroki @BAMozzy @starhops I did some testing, and while the hardpoint do 75 tear base, the tearblast have a small aoe that makes aiming more forgiving. The hardpoint don't. Shame though, keeping the sharpshooter bow just for tearblast.

@KratosMD The precision arrows do decent damage but with 20 handling the dps is still slow, especially since I have over 100 handling on the hunter bow.

Besides, it seems that if you really want to do damage, freezing the mob then base arrows are the shizzle, or the blast wire traps if you have time.

@Mega-Gazz: I prefer using the tearblast arrows for that reason - you don't have to be 100% accurate.

I'm actually really enjoying the game. I've sunk about 33 hours into it, I'm level 32, and I'm not even that far into the story. It's just loads of fun running around and exploring, as well as killing high level deadly machines! It's just so much fun and I'm really having a blast with it! Also, I don't see how people can hate Aloy as a character. I think she's a great character, personally speaking.

After Ellie from The Last of Us Aloy is probably my second favorite PS female character.

@Mega-Gazz I use the Sharpshooter Bow for sniping the human enemies and sometimes while hidden long range on machines. Tearblast are wonderful for disarming machines or even shooting behind the skittish machines and run them into a trap. I really enjoy the different strategies this game offers us.

Just finished the game and got the Platinum at the same time. Such a good game!!

@kyleforrester87 Around 75hrs. I am sure I could have achieved the Platinum a lot sooner had I not spent ime just enjoying the game, hunting specific animal to upgrade my carry pouches and stopping to kill everything. Its totally possible to get the Platinum on 1 run too - not being forced into playing the whole game again with different responses, 'Brutal' difficulty or speed running it in under a set time....
