@kyleforrester87 I’ll be curious to hear of your impressions. I’m not buying it right away but I am intrigued by it.

I've got enough Switch/3DS JRPGs on my plate at this point, but this is definitely on the top shelf of PS4 games I need to buy post-haste.

Currently Playing: Fields of Mistria (PC); Cookie Clicker (PC); Metaphor: ReFantazio (PC); Overboard! (PC)

@Th3solution played for 5 hours or so tonight, it's pretty excellent. Mind blowing? Nah, but it's pretty much what it says on the tin (so far) and just what I was after.

Picked up my preorder. Just need to get through the workday now .

Anyone already playing? Is there a Day 1 patch? If yes how big is it?

@Fight_Teza_Fight think I'm playing 1.01 so yes, it did say "updating software" when I opened it but I hadn't had the disc in too long so it must have downloaded pretty quickly in the background.

@kyleforrester87 Okay that’s good to know.

Played a bit yesterday. Looks gorgeous. Characters are very bland though in true level 5 fashion.

Never belligerent but always uncompromising.

kyleforrester87

@Feena are they any worse than the FF15 characters though? At least they are a bit more endearing.

That's not to say I dislike the guys in 15 and I there is some growth going on as the story develops.

But Nier Automata they both are not!

@kyleforrester87 I can understand any criticism about other parts of the game but XV's guys are wonderful and very fleshed out. They are the best part of the game for me. These NNK2 munchkins are cardboard...they don't even feel like characters to me.

Never belligerent but always uncompromising.

kyleforrester87

@Feena I dunno, I didn't play the DLC's to be fair but in the base game I wouldn't call the characters "very" fleshed out. There were some nice moments where you got a deeper glimpse and the back and forth they had while on the road was nice but I still wouldn't say fleshed out in the way a character like Cloud was.

Still, I do see what you're saying.

Finished chapter 1 yesterday. I like the snappy battles, but maybe it throws just a bit too many weapons at you (I'm hoping it won't be like Mass Effect 1 was in that regard). Having a problem with the minute text boxes that pop up during gameplay. I can't read them properly and they disappear too quickly! I really hope they patch it. :-/

@mookysam yeah those little text boxes are annoying. Fortunately they are not too common and don't seem to be too important. But they are small and only stay up a couple of seconds. Silly!

I feel burned up after spending 250+ hours in FF15 and 200 in XC2 (literally this is all I played recently) but I really want another jrpg. However I am not that huge fan of the original. The characters were meh, the story not so good, the game felt way slow.

I really like what I see in NNK2 trailers. Or I can get the next Atelier game to complete my atelier platinum collection...

Just got another outfit for Roland which is pretty dope.

I'm on like Chapter 5 but I've got distracted doing side missions now

@belmont I had some issues with the original as well but I am loving this one. Combat is much more fun and the characters are at least less bland ...Roland in particular is not bad at all.

On Chapter 3 liking it so far...it's an honest game. Missing bit of the magic of the first one in terms of charm but a way better videogame.

Never belligerent but always uncompromising.

The release date for this was bad timing for me. I'm still busy with Monster Hunter and Far Cry and God of War are right around the corner. That said I will be getting it down the line. I loved the first!

I'm probably spoilt by Zelda but it's annoying that you can't mark Higgledy stone locations on your map to come back to later.

Yeah Zelda has pretty much ruined every open world game for me. The biggest thing for me is being not able to climb up everything.

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

@Kidfried I agree. This is a game that I have a decent amount of interest in but will probably never get around to, just like the first one, which I also never played. It looks lovely, but doesn’t seem to incite me enough to leave all my other backlog games for it. With GoW and Detroit coming soon, as well as others (Yakuza 6, etc), NNK2 will be swallowed up in a sea of good games that never get a chance to see the light of my PS4 hard drive.
