@KratosMD To be honest the crimson heads in Resi 1 weren't a thing on the PS1 version so you didn't have to worry about them coming back. It is still a survival horror though so generally you were better off running away and around enemies when you could. Or take out 2-3 with single shotgun blast!
@kyleforrester87 it does look good, but the environment in Resi 2 is far more a part of the game than 4; Also 4 is rarely as tight as the mansion. they would've tried to mitigate this somewhat, but for quite a lot of the gameplay I watched (Aoife from EG, who is pretty in to Resi), the over the shoulder view just seemed as restrictive as it is obstructive.
It makes me wonder why the tried to '4' up the game to be honest.

@KALofKRYPTON Hmm seems like the logical view point to me. It's not just that 4 uses this over the shoulder view, basically all 3rd person adventure games do now. I agree the environments are a bit tight but it works in the tight corridors of Dead Space so I can see it being okay here. Things like enemy placement/how the weapons handle and the other tools/abilities (such as the knife, pushing etc.) will be important considerations for the developers of course.
@kyleforrester87 Games that use it are generally built to accommodate it though. Dead Space was fast and rhythmic and gloried in despatching enemies. It, and the majority of over-the-shoulder games are paced and structured such that you won't feel that the player avatar is in your way.
From the looks of the recreation of the environment in Resi 2 - it's as close to 1-1 as I think they could make it; and It really does look nothing short of frustrating. General navigation, investigation of the items in the environment and even combat and locating zombies looks compromised by the shift in perspective.
Head over to YouTube and look for EuroGamers gameplay video. I think you'll see what I mean.

@KALofKRYPTON Yeah I've watched most of the videos, but I don't see it myself to be honest. I'll have to wait and see until the pad is in my hands frankly, but it looks to have been made with a lot of care and attention so I'm not worried.
@kyleforrester87 I read that none of the original cast are returning. Capcom went for non-union voice actors or some sh*t.
I think Leon has had a different VO in every game he's appeared in.
@WanderingBullet I think it works, the new engine they are using for 7 and 8 allows for pretty realistic looking character models. They looked pretty cartoony in 4,5 and 6 by comparison.
The result is these new models look kind of like that picture of Mario if he was real. It looks about right in fairness, but disturbing non the less lol.
