I played the game on PS3 and still have my save file and character. I know it can be transferred to the PS4 version but does the PS3 version have to be the most up to date with all patches? I do not own the game on PS3 anymore.
You can transfer your PS3 save from the vanilla Diablo 3 on to the PS4 version of ROS. That said you need the latest patch on the vanilla and you still need the game.
Honestly playing hardcore would crush me if I died. I don't like the thought of putting time into a character and then knowing my luck I would lose everything due to some stupid mistake I do. Maybe once I have one of each class at 70 I will make a duplicate class for hardcore so that way if I die I can just go well that not my main Barb or whatever.

Hardcore is great but I do play it in conjunction to softcore. Actually I've never got to level 70 hardcore, currently have a level 40 that I hope will make it.
Yeah it's easy to die in stupid ways but it just encourages you to be careful and play more tactically. My main gripe with softcore is the lack of any kind of penalty. I mean, 50,000 gold on a repair bill is hardly punishment.
Since I finally got my PLAT today for Diablo, I will take a break until new content comes out (500 Bounty trophy really took the wind out of me). I was wondering though, how could a Diablo IV look like? I think it's not a good idea to just develop a new graphics engine and then fill it with similar content but different classes, I'd rather be for making it a full fledged MMO that still plays like Diablo OR make it first/third person even. What's your take on this?

Top 5 Indies I'd recommend you try: #1 Lovecraft's Untold Stories, #2 Moonlighter, #3 Hotline Miami, #4 Inside, #5 Into the Breach.
@Scollurio: I honestly believe that there won't be a Diablo IV. The way Blizzard seems to work nowadays is just by releasing expansions to existing products. It seems by doing this they can bring out newer content faster rather then taking years upon years like they did developing Diablo 3 for example. Plus how many players would be furious to have to start over in Diablo IV after sinking so much time into Diablo 3. It would really split the player base.

@Tasuki: I noticed that practice and I see where you're coming from, but the progress people have in Diablo III - at least for me - is a non-argument, because in my case, I have 6 70's on normal and 3 on Hardcore, I got plenty and plenty of ALL stuff really. After a certain point Diablo degrades into a "damage cloud in fancy lights" moving through a crowd of mobs at light speed. Hardly any tactics needed except "stay out of the arcane beams" after this point. I know they're trying to freshen things up via Seasons on PC and probably soon on PS4 too, but the "progression- and item-addiction" which really is what Diablo is all about gets stale after this certain point. So I'd WELCOME to start over in a new Diablo game and experience the "getting there" all over again, and no... I can't do it again on current Diablo. My biggest gripe with it being not enough tactical as I mentioned before.
And eventually the game will get old and look dated though a Diablo IV might be FAR away (years, maybe PS5) but I don't think it's out of the question. And if you draw a comparison to WoW with the ongoing expansions and patches, it's a bad comparison I think because WoW literally is a BEHEMOTH of a game, and no game beat it yet to the all-time-high subscriptions and I doubt even Blizzard itself could do it so easily. At the end of the day all of this doesn't matter, Blizzard generally makes brilliant games that take forever to come out and I LOVED the post-launch support of D3 and I really hope for another big expansion, maybe a new class to keep things fresh. I don't have high hopes for Overwatch though, I'd rather see Heroes of the Storm on PS4!

@Scollurio: It's all how they handle a new expansion. Up until now they have been more or less patches. What they need is a full blown expansion. Add another Act, up the level cap add another class like they did with RoS. That will add some much needed life to Diablo III. That way you would be starting over so to speak as you continue on from 70 to 80.

@though Diablo trumps Destiny in a lot of ways, my main gripe with Diablo is how easy and how few tactics are needed. At least there are challenges in Destiny, and some pretty intense ones at that.
@Tasuki: True what you say but the "Levelcap to 80" is dead in the water due to paragon levels, many users sporting a hacked 10.000 of those are literally GODS. I can't and won't worry about their enjoyment but I worry about mine and a new act for example wouldn't do much to fight the "damage clouding" through the areas. The only thing that would add a little bit of flavour would be a new class, OR patch in "first person mode" lol, that'd be awesome.
Again, I value your point of view I just don't see how you could breath fresh air into Diablo without "remaking" some of it's mechanics.

@Scollurio: Sorry my comment above was meant for you, but yes - I agree. It's a great game, collecting loot is brilliant, but in the end you're just mindlessly moving through hordes hoping for a legendary or set drop. It needs to be more challenging in places, and I don't just mean enemies that do more damage and bosses that absorb more.
@Scollurio: Lol I highly doubt they would put in a first person mode if they did it just wouldn't be Diablo. I understand what your saying and it's a valid point. You want something that takes tactics like a raid boss in World of Warcraft so example, something that challenges you to use your mind not something that you just plow through and keep going. Now I don't too much about Diablo or Diablo II since I never played them or at least alot, but I always thought that's how Diablo games played, not so much tactic but just run in kill a bunch of enemies loot and head back to town rinse and repeat. To change that formula would not make it Diablo anymore if that's the case.
