@Tasuki: You surely are right, Diablo generally was always played like this, but Diablo III is way more streamlined, in the first and second game you were at least trying to avoid big groups of enemies and pulled them out single one by one to tackle the oftentimes steep difficulty. Of course after your equip was good enough it basically boiled down to the same thing.
I guess what I am trying to say is, I'd love to have the speed of it all tuned down a bit, the graphical shenanigangs too so that we actually know what's happening on screen and that the different skills and abilities actually have some tactical use, they all do to some extent in the early game (pre 70) but later you just pick what ups your mobility and potential of (mass)destruction. I'd love to see things like the crusader skills or monk skills that heal you and your partners have some meaning, like this they don't because a) you either don't need healing at all or b) everything is happening so fast, you're either taking the damage and surviving or your're dead in a second. Anyways, I think my point came across and yes you're right, a first person Diablo probably wouldn't be Diablo anymore, but I'd kill for some more tactics next time around, or in an upcoming expansion. (can you imagine something like "Diablo Tactics" similar to Tactics Ogre on PS VITA, wet dreams sir, wet dreams...)

Top 5 Indies I'd recommend you try: #1 Lovecraft's Untold Stories, #2 Moonlighter, #3 Hotline Miami, #4 Inside, #5 Into the Breach.
@Scollurio: Yeah I know what you mean like building a healer monk isn't worth it much after you maxed out. I get what your saying. I have a witch doctor that I did a poison/pet build with a few of the guys at work for our weekly multiplayer game night and the strategy behind it just doesn't work cause usually everything is dead to quickly (The other players are a Crusader, a Wizard, and a Demon Hunter) especially. With our pets thrown into the mix. Yeah we could bump up the difficulty but that just takes things longer to die and doesn't add strategy just mind numbness lol.
But yeah for what you are asking for it would almost have to be a Spinoff game rather then a new Diablo, as you suggested a Diablo Tactics. As I said earlier what your asking for is just not Diablo. It would be like me saying they should take CoD and make it an open world game like Borderlands where I can craft guns and buy new equipment and tackle missions in an order I want to. That's just not CoD.
Another way of looking at what your asking for would be like the Mario games. Yeah they base Mario game is a platformer, but then you have RPG Mario games, Racing Mario games fighting etc.
So yeah can understand what your saying but would it be a wise move by Blizzard? How many Warcraft players are still waiting for Warcraft to return to its RTS roots.

@Tasuki: No idea how many Warcraft players are waiting for another Warcraft RTS... but I AM. And by your logic (which is not wrong btw just uncomplete) there wouldn't be a WoW if Blizzard didn't jump genres with their franchises. So I definitely could see:
World of Starcraft
Warcraft IV
Diablo Tactics
Vikings Racing
and Rock'n Roll Platformer
This of course was only half-serious.

@Scollurio: Right you are there man there wouldn't be a WoW, so yeah it could be a good thing. However in this day and age with social media, and the internet would it be wise? I mean for example at at the complaints they got about the Auction House mess. I am not saying your idea is wrong or can't work. It just would be smart of them to do it as a spinoff rather then making it Diablo IV.
After all how many games have survived this generation when a sequel deveates mechinc wise from a previous entry in the series?

@kyleforrester87: My guess would be announcement like that will be Blizzcon which is usually November. I can't logically see them announcing anything else as their big announcement. WoW will just have a new expansion come out, Starcraft had one last year, Hearthstone gets frequent updates as does HotS, and Overwatch will be only about six months old, maybe if anything they will announce a few new maps/heroes for Overwatch, but I honestly have a feeling that their big announcement will be Diablo related.

I guess so, obviously they've been occupied with Overwatch. Hopefully it's time to give Diablo some love!!
I doubt that had anything to do with it as they are all seperate teams. Sure you havery people like Chris Metzen who bounces between them but the core team stays on each game.

@kyleforrester87: Right they try to keep a rotation going kinda like Activision with the CoD games. That's how I came to my conclusion that more then likely they will announce something for Diablo at Blizzcon.

Plenty of rumours about a new Diablo announcement at Blizzcon next month on Google... Nothing of substance though really.. Dare we believe?!
I'm trying to not get my hopes up. I have heard many rumors of another expansion for D3 or a D4 announcement. I would gladly take either... Both would be even better.
@kyleforrester87: @Splat: Pretty sure there will be a Diablo 3 announcement next month at Blizzcon. As Diablo hasn't really had anything "big" in awhile while their other games have.
Starcraft had a new expansion last year
World of Warcraft had a new expansion a few months ago
Overwatch launched six months ago
Heroes of the Storm and Hearthstone get frequent updates.
The last big thing Diablo had was that new area which I can't remember the name of and that was awhile ago.
I really don't think Blizzard will do a Diablo 4 as that doesn't work with their business model now. They seem now to be content in launching a product and then adding support and expansions for awhile rather then a whole new game. Look at World of Warcraft, Overwatch, HotS, and Hearthstone. Besides if they were working on a 4th Diablo we would have heard some kind if rumor, news etc. of a Diablo 4.
But I guess we will see at Blizzcon in a few weeks.
