I am also a bit late for that game but hell its so damn good - I did play the first one but I havent played the second one (due to bad reviews and the demo back then) - the characters and the presentation of the story is pretty good, but what really gets me going is exporation and the battle system: the environments are just stunning and a hell lot of fun to just explore and wander around and battles are flashy and complex at the same time - the game is very polished and plays fluidly, not too long loading times in between too. I personally would complain about the Loot (idk but its mostly garbage LOL), the somewhat "shallow" story (not as personal and capturing as it could be - but tense and interesting never the less!), some camera annoyances and a few bugs (loading textures and strange things with character models sometimes). Oh and hell yes theres tons to do in DA, it really is a bit overwhelming haha but its all so greatly implemented in the exploration that its just a hell lot of fun to discover new areas, quests and do standard collectible-quests at the same time - its rewarding and you cant stop playin
Id also honestly not compare it too much to The Witcher, Geralts Adventure is more of a "pure" solo game, whereas in DA you have an Avatar Character you can fully customize, a full party - well and can also play in Coop online.
The Witcher 3 may be the overall more polished and "better" game (Storywise, Gameworld, Fighting, Quest Design), but were talkin about DA here guys, I guess theres a topic for Witcher too on this site
Oh and NOONE EVER mentioned how freakin amazing and breathtaking those DRAGONS in DA are - oh ma god! ^^
Dragon Age Origins is a fantastic game so I wanted to play DA. I have the Witcher 3 as well. For me I expect different experiences from the games the same reason why I do not just play one FPS or one puzzle game or only one MMO. Every game takes you on a different journey.
I found that with dragon age inquisition it's best to play the game like you would in real life. If the world is falling apart you wouldn't put saving it on hold to do a few side quests. Focus on the main story. Doing sidequests to get enough power to do the main story missions (makes sense if you've played far enough into the game). All of the areas are designed for you to return to so will have higher tier enemies in certain parts of the map. You can focus on doing everything after the story missions and before the last dlc mission. Only thing I'd really focus on during the game are missions related to your companions as that deepens the story.
I've plaid both dragon age and the witcher and I like both for different reasons. Dragon age is more fantasy based whereas witcher 3 although still fantasy feels more grounded. Both pull it of really well
