My PSN name came from the Rotting Christ song "Sorrowful Farewell". I changed farewell with North because the north is cold and brutal. I've always had an obsession with the north, especially anything Scandinavian, because I grew up on death metal. So, you know, that's my story.
When I was young I used to write poetry and a poetic license is called synalepha, also called elision. The spanish word for that is "sinalefa" so I stuck with it and here I am.
Some names are bad, some names are great, Your name is boss, because poetry I rate. I'm not great at Spanish, but here I go, sie senior, grascious Amigo.

I wondered if there was a thread on here like this and did a search. Found this one and thought I'd add to it! I am a big fan of the Batman Arkham games and one day I was coming up with a name for another site (probably while I was playing Arkham Knight). Thought of the idea of using the silent K from knight and putting it on nerd...so, Arkham Knerd!
I made the word up when I was about... 15? At the time it had some form of meaning between me and my friends, but I've forgotten whatever that was. Somewhere along the line I adopted it as my online moniker for basically everything, so now Quintumply just means me.
I wish there was a better story behind it, but... Well, there isn't.
If we're talking username for Push Square then I think I had Morrigan from Dragon Age in my head at the time I joined.
PSN I go by CycloShakes. I'm a transplant patient (heart) and the medication I'm on to treat rejection is called Cyclosporin. A side effect from the drug is to have shakey hands, hence the name, CycloShakes. This doesn't affect my skills on a pad, though.
Ashkorsair
Why?
I always choose ash as a character name because ash from evil dead rocks.
Ash was to short so i added corsair cause it sounds good.
Changed the c to a k cause my last name is kors.
Thus ashkorsair was born
@ApostateMage Wow! That'd be a PSN name that I would be like, "that's a weird name.." but when you know the meaning it makes perfect sense! Very clever!
Adding to mine, my Xbox Gamertag is THEEcoachLEE. I made it whenever I used to coach football and my last name is Lee...so I thought it sounded cool. Haha..I want to change it to ArkhamKnerd but I kinda hate the idea of paying $10 just to change my gamertag...
This is a great thread. I've enjoyed reading all the backstories behind the usernames.
My PushSquare username is also my PSN ID: Fight_Teza_Fight
My actual name is Terrance- Terry for short. When I was younger I'd always be playing footy, so one day this kid called me 'Teza' in a desperate and failed attempt to get me to pass the ball and it has stuck since.
The 'Fight_(INSERT NAME)_Fight' comes from the professional wrestler Kevin Owens. Its his twitter handle, but it's also a popular crowd chant. I thought it was pretty awesome back then and a great way to get the crowd invested into a match.
Ironically I don't actually like Kevin Owens. He's just a guy that cuts a good promo.
Combine the two and you get: Fight_Teza_Fight

My Push Square id is also my Xbox gt and it is boringly just a pet name my wife calls me as my name is Chris and my surname starts with a D. It is now just what I go by online in everything I do.
I was part of the South London music scene back in the 2000s and a mate and I were challenged to create a band called 'Sharing Sheaths' and play at a night being put on in a few months time. So we created on stage characters to go with the name; I was Mergatroid, a maestro pianist, and the other guy was Terry Butchery, a... butcher; we both escaped a Siberian gulag and united to form a homo-erotic electronica act. Lets just say there was a lot of abuse to our systems going on at the time, as it all seemed so reasonable back then.
The name Mergatroid stuck, and I exchanged the i for a 1 because I'm obviously really cool.
honestly there is no story behind mine. i just needed a name and picked the name of the character from the last manga i read
although i AM thinking of maybe changing it but i'm not sure what to yet

@ApostateMage That's interesting, when did you get a heart transplant? Cyclosporine is an immunosuppressant I understand, do you inject it? Is it a biologic type drug?
Well, I used to have a friendly nickname which was a play on words of my name that my friends have called me since school but it is probably something you could trace back to personal accounts, liked LInkedIn (annoyingly I used this for my PSN which is why I want to change it!).
So, I decided to use the same username for most of the sites or videos I use. I chose Rudy Manchego because, I think, it is a name used on the Mighty Boosh radio show and it just made me laugh. I wish I could take credit for it. I don't like to take things too seriously so I chose my avatar accordingly. I am thinking of a change though.
At EGX, I bumped into some of the guys from a gaming channel that I had submitted questions to and they were slightly disappointed that I wasn't from South America with an amazing accent.
Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot
@kyleforrester87 I had my transplant in 2003 up at the Freeman in Newcastle, so 14 years strong now. My immunosuppresants are tablet form, all in all I'm gulping 16 tabs a day. It's all good.
@ApostateMage I'm on weekly biologic injections for a type of arthritis, though you wouldn't really know to look at me as they are very effective. I'll look into Cyclosporine more though as I did read it can be used for arthritis so I wonder why it's not prescribed often, to my knoweldge? Biologic drugs cost a fortune (it's about $2000 a month in the US). But patents are ending and prices are coming down, I've been moved onto a "bio-similar" developed by Samsung that's a copy of Enbrel since the patent expired on it recently. It's interesting stuff.
@kyleforrester87 Yeah many GPs, including my own, refuse to prescribe it for some reason, I always thought it was because they are so costly. Cyclosporin are a great immunosuppresant but they do give your kidneys a good pounding. That's why I'm on so much medication, to try and balance between rejection and damage to the kidneys but it keeps me alive so I'm not complaining. Anyway, I hope you're doing alright mate.
Sorry to derail the this great thread a bit. It's so interesting reading everybody's stories behind their PSN names. There's some crackers in here.
