Topic: why is everyone preordering?

More often than not - certainly of late, my games I have pre-ordered arrived on the day of release. Occasionally and rarely they ave arrived a day early but its far more likely it arrives on the actual day for me...

Havnt recieved games early by post for 10 years, since the days of play.com! Only bet these days is buying from indie shops if you want them early, they usually break street dates.. Can't say I'll bother with Mgs5 though. Got mine on preorder from Amazon and the day off work to boot.

Best Buy's Gamers Club Unlocked is the reason why. $10 card for a new game that you preorder (if it's on the list, which is most major XB1 and PS4 games). That, plus an additional $12 off. It's why I'm preordering MGSV.

I only pre-order games i know i`ll enjoy. The only games ive pre-ordered this year are the witcher 3 and metal gear solid 5 the collector edition because im a massive fan of both games series.

@Ash_uk1: The reason for me was last month I set myself a small budget to buy anime DVDs and games. The game I really wanted was mgs5 so it made sense as its only a month and a half until it released when I preordered.

Preordering is a massive benefit to people who earn monthly commission and it can be a certain degree of boom or bust, I earned a lot last month whereas the commission this month is okay but I cant blitz my money due to bills and family. If I never pre ordered I would of spent the money on something anyway.

I have never pre ordered anything but am considering pre ordering Yakuza 5 just to support the localization of Yakuza titles

I only pre-order a game I know I'm 100% getting day one anyway. That way it's all ready paid for and I just have to wait till release day. Being a big digital fan and getting to go a head and download the game days in advance is also a nice bonus. I can wake up early and start playing right away since they unlock at midnight.

I guess part of the 'buzz' of pre-ordering is knowing that you will get the game on day 1 and waiting for the postman to deliver is just adding to the anticipation. For me certain games are more likely to get pre-ordered because they are more time-sensitive than others. MP games (for example) are more likely to get pre-ordered - not because I find them better, but because they are more difficult to get into when everyone else has more knowledge of the Maps/weapons/tactics needed and higher levels too where as a campaign only game is unlikely to be affected whenever I opt to buy it.
Pre-ordering online can cost nothing until the point of dispatch as some places don't charge or take a deposit, where as others charge at the point of order. Depending on where I choose to pre-order, that means I can pay in advance so I know it won't affect my budget or have a risk-free option where I can cancel at no cost or loss right up to dispatch. Pre-ordering CoD:BO3 for example meant I could play the Beta and if I didn't like it, cancel my pre-order and it won't cost me a penny. I have pre-ordered Uncharted 4 from a different retailer though and that game is paid for already...

I only pre order MP game's i'm getting, SP game's you can buy whenever when they are cheaper I see no need to pre order SP game's.
