I signed up for the sport manufacturer tournament last night to get the group cars. It was a difficult decision but I went with Honda in the end and the cars are great fun. There’s a noticeable difference between GR3 and 4. The 4 felt really solid and handles amazingly out of the box. The 3 on the other hand is really twitchy but stupidly fast.
I practiced some of the circuits we are looking to race on Wednesday and judging by my performances you guys have nothing to worry about 😂
@render all about the race pace. I started 3rd in two sport races at red bull ring last night and in both races crumbled with stupid mistakes.
Or it could have been the wind. Or the tyres. Or something
For anyone interested, we now know the final car for the Three Legendary Cars trophy is the Ferrari 330 P4 '67. Not sure how long we will be waiting for the other 2 to come back on sale.

@Kairu Does the BoP / Tuning forbidden disallow all tuning and performance parts? I spent a bit of time tinkering with the tuning tonight to try and get rid of the nasty oversteer I was getting in my GR3 car but I guess that will be nullified? No problem but just good to know what to expect.
Also happy with all the rules and especially good to get a bit of practice in before hand. Got an idea of the number of laps you are thinking for the races? I’ve been doing a few custom races to get used to the cars and circuits and have been doing more laps to get more experience. Basically anything that’s more than 2 or 3 laps is good as I tend to find that’s just too short.
@velio84 It was there the other night when I signed up for it. I just went into sport mode and it was an option off of the next menu I think.
That Audi in the circuit experience is stupidly quick but it's really easy to loose it as the balance and throttle are both really sensitive. I had to notch up the traction control to get it round the circuit.
I bought another car last night as well. I went for the McLaren 650S GR3 car just to compare against the Honda NSX I'd got from the manufacturer series. It's a lot quicker straight out of the box and doesn't suffer from the oversteer I was getting in the Honda however it is lower which makes a big difference in terms of visibility in races. I'll have to have a play at lunchtime to decide which one I'll use later.
@velio84 I've been having to use TC1 on most things so far as I've just not got the finesse required to bring the throttle in slowly. I might do with some peddles but with the controller it's just too shorter travel on the trigger for me. I do like how each of the cars feels different to drive though and having stepped from the Honda into that Audi for the circuit experience I couldn't drive it but given a few goes and I'd just about got the hang of it so could at least post a lap.
I'm really late on the brakes as well but generally because I misjudge my braking so sometimes have to keep on the brakes into the corner. With some cars that's ok they can be quite compliant but others really don't like it. The Honda GR3 is one of those but I just about dialled it out with some tuning. Having promised myself that I wouldn't get involved in all that stuff I'm now getting stuck in as it's so addictive. Damn you Polyphony Digital 😫
Stupid question but tonight will be my first time playing anything online (other than sport mode in gt7) - will it be obvious how to join you guys? Do I go to join a party or something like that from the ps5 dash?
8pm may be a little early for me but hoping to join in later at least
@velio84@Kairu I've still got both the cars I received from the manufacturer series so you definitely get to keep them. I think you can change them each season though by signing a contract with a different manufacturer.
Happy to use voice chat if everyone else does. I'll make sure I've got my headset later in case we do.
I did a few daily races in preparation for racing real people later. After a few goes around Monza I finally got through the entire race without a) hitting anyone b) anyone hitting me and c) going off track and finished where I started in 4th. Considering the last time I raced Monza was Geoff Crammond's F1 back in something like 91 or 92 that's not bad. Back then we used to spend hours setting up our cars and qualifying only for someone to take everyone out on that first chicane.
I've got a way to go before I get anywhere near the top ranks as I'm still D/B but at least it gives me something to aim for. I'm really looking forward to later now when it all goes pear shaped and I spend more time off the track than on it.
I read a YouTube comment (and it worked) on those licence tests that require overtaking, if you're struggling exit to the world map and then go back in. The AI cars can act and bunch up differently, sometimes making an impossible test doable. Looking back I got gold in that particular licence with a considerably slower time than my previous best
