Topic: Desert Island Discs

Your trapped on a desert Island and can have a console, tv, and 5 games and a mystery item. What would you take?

How about a solar generator to run them all.

I guess I'd take the Gamecube system and the following five games for it: Super Smash Bros Melee, Luigi's Mansion, Eternal Darkness, Billy Hatcher And The Giant Egg and Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance. The Mystery item would be a ton of Yuengling Lager so I'm not getting too bored.

@get2sammyb: Typing of the dead? Really. I agree with jet set radio. I found future on the xbox to be the better game, and aisle 10 one of the tunes is ace (I think you would like it) and that attract mode tune 'concept of love' is the best start up tune in the history of the universe.

@themcnoisy: I could honestly play Typing of the Dead forever. Plus, I've never been able to complete it, so it seems I could do with the typing practice. XD

I would have to bring the Xbox with Knights of the old republic, Jet set radio future, Timesplitters fp, Halo box set (1&2) and GTA box set(vice city and san Andreas). My mystery item would be a set of decks (and records).

@get2sammyb: Nice picks Sammy, you guys are lucky you gut Shenmue 2 on the DC where we only got it on the Xbox unless of course I did some "magic" to it.

Anyway my choice would be a laptop for the console

Mystery item would be my cellphone so I could tether my PC to the phone and get internet that way it would be slow but at least I can pay games from older systems .

Yeah the question of an Internet connection is a major deal breaker here. Because then I might be more inclined to a modern console with browser / media streaming functionality.

But pure games I'm currently thinking PS2 with Rogue Galaxy, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy XII, Dark Cloud, and Burnout 3 (need something arcadey to alleviate RPG fatigue!). Tough call not throwing any metal gear in, but trapped on a desert island you'd need massive games packed with as much content as you can get, to keep you busy up until rescue time! Honorable mention to DQVIII, which was only narrowly trumped by Dark Cloud.

Mystery Item - Archer season 1-6 DVD box set, stashed inside a magic self-replenishing beer crate. I have a feeling I might be cheating here, but I couldn't choose between the two!

It would depend on Internet/online capabilities as that would seriously impact on my choice.

N64 with Mario 64, F-Zero X, GoldenEye 007, Smash Bros and Bust-A-Move 2. To be honest I could just take Mario 64 and be happy.

Mystery item? Phone (with the charger plugged in) so I can still listen to music. Sorted.

@JLPick: Hugely underrated game is Billy Hatcher. Infectious music too. Keep hoping Sega will put it on PSN but if they won't print money with Shenmue on PSN then I doubt they'd do Billy. Or Skies Of Arcadia either sadly.

Really, I'd get absolutely sick to death of the same 5 games within 3 months tops no matter what they were. I can't even chose the 5 games that I'd like to send me mad before I inevitably drowned myself in the sea, actually. I guess my mystery item would be a 20kg weight I could strap to myself to help me sink faster.

(Okay maybe if I had to chose I'd go for a PS4 and No Mans Sky, i guess it would be kind of fun trying to spend the rest of your life visiting all the planets, even if they were terribly boring)
