So I've never really been a big fan of this film but given the recent remake announcement (you may have heard) I thought I'd give it another go. Rather than watch my original DVD I figured I'd pick it up on Bluray and this time bought the "Complete" version. I must say it flows as a much better film and the extra scenes really help explain what's going on, where the original always seemed very disconnected.
Even Cloud seemed more rounded and developed a little more toward how he seemed in the game.
Has anyone seen the Complete version? And if, like me, you'd only seen the original and were not impressed I'd recommend giving this version a watch.
I remember renting this in the day from Blockbuster. I really don't like FF VII but at the time I was staying the night over at a friend's house and it was his pick. I do remember enjoying it though much more then the game but other then that I don't remember much about it.

Day one this was to come out people put up fake downloads of an "Bird inside of an cage". It was an big thing because when it did release the DVD also had released ( I heard rumor of an VHS tape ).
Personally I loved the DVD movie. The whole thing was nice to watch with the family. I did already get the story.
1. An viral out break occurs
2. Kids mostly ( including Shinra ) caught the desease.
3. It turns out the disease was reminiscent of Jenova attempting to revive itself.
4. More Seproth/jenova clones appeared ( those three fellows ).
5. On the other-side ( heavan/lifestream ) Seproths Sister was there with
Clouds friend.
6. Cloud fought the clones. Being closer to Jenovas cells. Seproth clones could take full form again.
What I do not get is ability to summon those dog creature and why did they gave ( mister bullet hand ) the lame corn braids. Easily had some nice rising cut, compared to his high-top. That ruined the whole entire film for me at least. Then there is the damn wolf spirit garbage. Why is that important to cloud? I know what it is important in FF8 but this movie just keeps adding nonsense after nonsense. Most of it is from our world as well.

About FF7. In an attempt to bring FF into real life. They abandoned the spiritual realm and mu ( Dimension-X ) idea and decided to go with the lifestream and god idea.
I also feel Jenova is really something Kefka left behind. As FF7 demo on N64 was really FF6 demo in 3d. Most of the things in FF7 are just FF6 in 3d.
Some of ideas was original but was not new at all. Then from this game they created the idea of seed and because of the "lost magic" the idea of the sorceress ( "goddess" incarnated ). I think FF7 along with FF9 was the hardest to follow. FF9 itself ( which I am still playing ) seems to be the idea of playing with mist and this magician fellow that appears to be high on mist in the fighting game.
The problem with FF7 is the whole idea of Maho and the lifestream, along with Jenova. It is also like "Super Mario Brothers The movie ( FF7 the game )". Where the King is the fungus trying to help the Marios. In this case the lifestream is trying to help the heroes in it's own ways.

the one property I am glad to own is the FF7 Famicom game. I know it is in Chinese but otherwise an amazing feat in itself.
