Man, I've been hearing some crazy stuff with the late game spoilers. I won't say anything, but stuff changes.

@Orpheus79V I heard too, which makes me not too sure about buying it anymore and I’ve been hyped for years. I’m not sure what I was expecting from Nomura though, everything has to be ‘power of friendship’ or ‘destiny’ with him, he’s truly a terrible director.

So far it's absolutely blowing my mind. It's the stuff I loved in the original but raised up and brought even more to life.

My order has been delayed due to stock shortages apparently so will have to wait and see. Hoping any story changes are for the better, no doubt it's something that will be difficult to pull off with such a big fanbase.

so for those who have it early and are playing it,how much does your impressions differ from the pushquare recent hands on?

@nessisonett He's not the writer, though. That's Nojima, who also wrote the original - alongside Kitase, who's now the producer of the remake.

The negative thing I remember them saying was that it's linear. It is so far, though it feels more open than the original since the areas are larger and things develop more organically. Like the bit when Cloud is chased and has to jump onto the train is a lot more organic in how it develops and plays out. Besides, Push Square love the UC series and they're some of the most linear games ever made.

But for me, so far, it's hit every note of the original but built on it, given it more impact or significance or emotional charge. The reaction to the reactor bombing is delved into much more, both by the citizens and the members of Avalanche. And my god, it's a dream come true to walk around Midgar this well realised and designed. Loads of little nods to the original, like the couple at the Sector 7 train station and the Shinra executive that Barret scares on the train.

@Matroska All I can say is just wait till you get a bit further in. I’m not going to spoil it but I definitely feel deflated.

@Matroska good to hear.

i myself don't mind linear games. it's easier to play them in the way that i don't get overwhelmed.

have you tried some of the minigames yet?

jdv95

Matroska

@jdv95 Not yet. In the time since I posted the game's opened up. Sector 7 is pretty huge, possibly bigger than all of Midgar in the original (apart from the Shinra HQ). There are lots of little areas branching off from it that will have quests in later. It feels really alive and bustling too and all NPCs have their own thing to say. It's not like FFXV where most didn't talk at all.

@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy We’ve very much tried to get him to play the original but yeah that’s true. It’ll be absolutely necessary to play the original to get this even a bit.

Perhaps we should make a spoilers thread with the appropriate warnings?

That could be an option @nessisonett with a dedicated spoiler/ FF7 Remake thread. I was honestly kinda done talking about it as that little thought came to mind (though I suppose I could talk more about it)

Not to worry @kyleforrester87 I know how much you and the others are dying to play this... I wouldn't dream of spoiling it for any of you.

In fact I'll remove the comment just in case seeing as Ness knows what I wanted to say

Can anyone help with The Stagger Effect Part 1 in FFVIIR? This isn't plot related, it's just a quest where you need to do a certain thing in battle but I don't quite understand what you're meant to do.
