@Jimmer-jammer funny you say that as I feel the opposite, I reckon some additional story dlc is almost a certainty (don’t know why… just a feeling).

I’ll have to look into that combo you mentioned, sounds amazing!

@colonelkilgore I sure hope so! The thing with Rime is you have to be the correct distance from your opponent for it to land. A perfect Cold Snap usually puts me in about the right spot so it’s a natural follow up for some quality passive damage. If I have a bit of stagger time left after exhausting all of my big moves, I’ll always try to use Dancing Steel for an uninhibited free Zantetsuken charge as you have to land the first few hits for it to properly engage.

@Jimmer-jammer My bad, from what I remember of your posts, I thought you had finished it a while ago. I guess I remembered wrong. Thanks for being willing to chime in though.

@KilloWertz No worries! The amount of definitive praise I’ve doled out would easily give the impression that I’ve finished it and, who knows, maybe things will epically derail in its final minutes and I’ll sheepishly recant all I’ve said of it 🤷‍♂️ Just currently working through the onslaught of side quests, hunts and chronoliths that piled up by the final mission.

@Jimmer-jammer It obviously did for me even though I loved it up until the end, but I'm probably in the minority, so we may not agree. I did every side quest and hunt as well. I only passed on the chronoliths as I didn't feel like doing them after one attempt at the first one. Lazy? Maybe, but I also wanted to finally play the final mission.

@KilloWertz Yeah, the chronoliths do pose a challenge. I’m definitely at that same point of wanting to finally play the final mission and have been for a while. If only life would cooperate with my hypothetical gaming schedule! Looking forward to discussing the ending when I get there.

So that’s the monster hunt board done, will give the chronolith trials a go tomorrow night… and if I get through them that’s everything done and I can take on the final mission.

@colonelkilgore Nice work! I’ve got three side quests, four hunts and the chronoliths left. Did you have a favourite hunt?

Well I’d probably have to go with Svarog (I think his name was that any way… the big s class dragon basically), he was the only one that I had to try a few times tbh. Tried him as I was playing through the story and got wiped out. Then went back at level 48, initially died with about a fifth of his health bar remaining but beat him the next time.

@colonelkilgore 😂 I had the same thing happen! He’s one of the ones I have left. I thought the buildup to Kuza the bearer eater was really cool but was admittedly a little disappointed to see it was a reskin… Ah well. Hope you enjoy the ending!

@Jimmer-jammer yeah that was quite cool actually… almost forgot he was a monster hunt as he was also a site quest.

Well those chronolith trials are tricky hey! Managed to get the phoenix and the ramuh ones done but struggled with Garuda and Titan. Could take a bit longer than I was expecting getting through these fair play.

There's a yearly musical event in Edinburgh called the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Basically lots of soldiers performing songs in Edinburgh castle. I hadn't heard of it before, to be honest, but this year evidently some FF fan snuck in some classic FFVII music.

@colonelkilgore Not sure if you're already doing it but you can relocate your skill points to make sure you're always fully upgraded on the specific Eikon you need
I found the trials relatively easy but I did them all just before the final battle. Only failed one of them once.

@Voltan not sure if that would help me (it might)… I’m just not racking up enough bonuses to add extra time, so I was running out of time on Garuda and Titan. Will have a look though and see if your suggestion has any impact on that 👍

@colonelkilgore Don’t know if it will help or not but arcade mode ranks your performance and allows you to figure out techniques like punishments, collaterals, deadly combos and deadly chains…They are colour coded from white to rainbow or least to most.

@Jimmer-jammer I’ll be sure to check it out mate. I’m taking a brief hiatus from the game atm as the servers are back up (for how long no one knows) for Splinter Cell: Blacklist so trying to get as much of that done as possible. I will return to FFXVI though 🤔

@colonelkilgore Fair enough! I’m in the same boat actually, just built with different materials. Good luck with the servers!

@Matroska To be fair, it’s being performed by Final Fantasy baddies so it might as well draw from the series 😉

So after my week long sojourn I’ve returned to FFXVI this morning and I’ve managed to get through all bar one (Garuda’s) chronolith trials… will give hers a go once I’ve had a bite to eat. 🤞 I’m able to clear hers, beat a boss with out getting hit at the arete stone… and then I’m good to go onto the final mission.
