Topic: Girls names for a new little person

Have a baby girl due in under 4 weeks and picking names is hard - what name would you pick?

(I've considered Talim, Chun Li and Hope due to gaming)

If your looking some ideas here, which isn't necessarily bad, you might want to consider this being your answer when she asks where you got her name from.

I've considered Frankie and Charlie but my wife hates them both.

Congrats on the impending arrival. I've earmarked the following names should I ever find myself in your shoes: Constance and Celeste. You may not steal them.

True story before we knew the sex of the baby. We were picking names randomly one night about 5 months ago and I said "ok how about Ryu?" Obviously I got a no. Then I said "how about Guile?" No then I asked "how about Ken" she then shook her head for a third time. Getting more irritated as I spoke.

She never understood this but I peed myself saying it...

"well if we carry on like this the poor kids gonna be called Dahlsim" she never understood but I couldn't stop laughing for ages.

First off, congrats on your baby! Secondly, I suck at picking female names. I once sat for 30 minutes trying to decide Rinoa's name in FFVIII.

But if I were to name my daughter anything, I'd pick any of the following names: Abigail, Amelia, Ashley, Bridget, Claire, Danielle, Hannah, Heidi, Katie, Kathryn, Marie, Natalie, Rebecca, Sarah, Sierra, or Victoria. You can tell I've been thinking about this.

Yeah, they're all kinda basic for girls, but I'd rather not overthink it, ya know? Heck, when the time comes for me I'll probably just let my wife handle it.

If I ever have a daugther I'll like to name her Lyanne... that's the name I always use when I can play as a female character and select a name

It's funny, I was listening to a conversation recently, about how certain names are now considered 'unfashionable'; like Gertrude and Doris - names that sound like they belong to an old person, haha.

It's quite fascinating, seeing society change the perceptions of mere words in such a short timespan.

Have you considered any Final Fantasy lady names? I've always quite like them.

Side note; my brother gave his son the middle-name of 'Creed' - the family name of Sabretooth from X-Men! To this day, his wife still doesn't know...

If you really are looking for names inspired by games (that may not be too far out there), there's Chell (Portal), Deborah (DQV), Lulu (FFX), Rosa (FFIV), Alena (DQIV), or Daisy (Super Mario).
