@TheBrandedSwordsman Depends what you mean by that! Always been one of my least favourite rappers of the East Coast bunch from that period but he’s a good producer. Not a big fan of him cheating on Beyonce though 😂
@nessisonett Who is your favourite East Coast rapper then? I personally love Wu Tang and their various associated works such as the Only Built 4 Cuban Linx albums.

@TheBrandedSwordsman Such a hard one, there’s so many to choose from. Nas and all of the Wu-Tang Clan including their solo stuff are fantastic, it’s got to be MF DOOM though, he was technically born in London but moved to New York young enough to absolutely be part of that scene.
I’ve just seen that SiM has a new album releasing at the end of the months. They’ve released a few of the songs as singles and they absolutely slap!

@nessisonett Some good choices there man, and sorry about the late reply, I love MM FOOD by MF DOOM, anagram of his name obviously, haha!. Anyway, going back to what we were saying before about Jay Z, don't you rank any of his best albums as at least reasonably good? i.e Reasonable Doubt, The Blueprint, The Black Album and 4:44. Those are my favourites by him and ,arguably, all classics. I highly recommend listening to at least Reasonable Doubt, if you haven't heard it already, and getting back to me. It may change your mind.
@TheBrandedSwordsman Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint are probably his best but I just don’t really go out my way to listen to him I guess. Same as Kanye, never been a fan outside of a few tracks.
@nessisonett That's fair enough man. Where do you stand on cinematic soul, if you're familiar with the genre? If you're not here's something to give you an idea of what it sounds like.

@TheBrandedSwordsman Not really something I’m that familiar with! I guess maybe people like Isaac Hayes would count as that sort of soul? I wasn’t that big on Hot Buttered Soul but the Shaft soundtrack’s iconic for a reason. In terms of soul, I do like the Philly style, like Tower of Power and stuff.
@TheBrandedSwordsman Oh man, I love some Surprise Chef! Finally seen them live this year and they didn’t disappoint. Have you heard of Mildlife? @nessisonett@Kidfried I can also second those recommendations, Sault in particular. Pretty much where my ear has been for the last couple of years.
We’re playing The Plucky Squire this month, join us!
@nessisonett I hope I was able to introduce you to a new genre that you enjoy then. I can recommend more if you liked that album. Reverting to the subject of East Coast Hip Hop ,have you heard Raekwon's sequel to the purple tape? I'd love to know your thoughts on the album .
@AgentCooper I love Surprise Chef as well, I had the chance to see them live but I passed as I prefer more shreddy stuff live, i.e John Scofield & Julian Lage, as I play guitar and that's the sort of stuff I like to play, I also like free jazz music like Evan Parker live and to listen to as well.

@TheBrandedSwordsman Yeah, I couldn’t believe Part 2 was as good as it was considering what it had to live up to. It’s probably not as good as the original but it’s impressive he managed to put out something that could stand alongside his 90s work.
@nessisonett Yeah i agree, the original is hard to compete with, though. And I've heard that the Cuban Linx albums top anything else in his solo discography. Apparently there's a third on the way, like the Godfather trilogy or something.

@nessisonett Haha indeed. What do you think of this guy, Sonny Sharrock?, a free jazz guitarist who worked with Pharoah Sanders numerous times before he died. This is probably his best work imo, recorded six months before he died.
Edit: @Voltan tagging you too now, to see what you think of this guy? Hope you are well, haven't spoken in a while.
Edit 2: @Jimmer-jammer what do you think of the music below? Assume you're probably familiar with the show too as it seems like your sort of thing, but I'd like your take on the music as well. I've posted a link to my personal interpretation of the guy's music below that, an homage, if you will. Love to know what you think of that as well. When you've got time that is
