@KratosMD Thanks for the reply. Yeah, Hyrule Warriors main appeal was that it was a Zelda spin-off, I probably wouldn't have got it otherwise. So the celebration of the franchise is a big element I guess. Now I realise I enjoy the the style of gameplay though I probably will pick Fire Emblem Warriors up at some point if I can find it cheaply enough.
@themcnoisy I've had my eye on One Piece Pirate Warriors 3 for a while. Will probably get it at some point too for the PS4.
Even more horrifying (Or good, depending on what side of the corporate wall you fall on):
Super Mario Odyssey hit 9.07m units
Star Wars Battlefront 2 SHIPPED just under 7m, EA calls that a disappointment.
EA has been stung. That's a good thing. It wont deter them, they already mentioned MTAs coming back, but if one thing, it proves proper budgeting and just making a good game with a license, is better than butchering it.

@Octane@Slasher I'm not saying it's a bad thing, except I lost a bet. It's just a lot more than I expected under the market circumstances. I was being very conservative, at most I would have said just shy of the Wii U, not trouncing it already.

@Kidfried This is basically giving the option for 1080p at 30fps, a resolution based mode, or lower resolution for 60fps, a performance based mode.
Note how games are offering this on Switch. There are games that do this too on PlayStation and Xbox, but only if you have a Pro or X. These options should be on all models, not just the upgrades.
Namely if a game on PS4 runs at say 900p-30fps/60fps, give an option for higher resolution with lower performance, and vice versa, like they do on Pro and X, just without locking it behind an entirely separate SKU.

@YummyHappyPills It's down to the developer to include those modes.
Nioh on PS4 has an action mode (720p/60fps) or a cinematic mode (1080p/30fps). The Pro has a variable movie mode as well.
Obviously on Switch they have to include those modes do to its hybrid nature. Not the case with home consoles unfortunately, as it's easier to sell a game on graphics than gameplay. So most don't bother, but they are there.

@Fight_Teza_Fight They don't have to include these modes due to being a hybrid.
This isn't them altering the fidelity based on docked/undocked, this is them giving you better graphics when docked for a lower FPS, or 900p graphics when docked for 60fps.
Similar to what FE Warriors does: When docked you can do 1080p30, or 720p60.
As I said, this isn't the same feature as docking/undocking, this is giving the players choices of the visuals/performance they want, with two options for both docked and undocked.
On a home console they probably should include this, by the way.
I don't get where you got that these options are Switch mandatory btw. Like...at all. This is clearly not the same process as docking/undocking, rather toggles akin to what Nioh does as you said.

For me it lost its edge when lootboxes started taking over the gear drops. It didnt have lootboxes for ages after release on ps4 and was a better game as the aesthetic extras just flowed at the end of every few games. I should still have a gold nugget which is one of the most expensive items (worth 20 keys in the new economy I believe) but its all nonesense. It was actually the game which made me hate lootboxes and its probably my favourite game this generation which has actually gotten worse with every update since the lootboxes.

@YummyHappyPills Simply pointing out the fact that performance modes are not system exclusive features & are available on other 'base' model consoles .

As it stands thougha majority are locked behind the "Pro patches", even something as simpleas lower resolution higher FPS.
One thing I do wonder though, and I see no issue with it to be fair, is if you can play online in 30fps mode. Yes it would be a disadvantag, though its self imposed.
Also nice to see such levels of performancefrom an engine that isnt even supported by the system nor the engine creator anymore

@YummyHappyPills Its rare for that to happen outside of Pro/X. The difference with Pro/X though is that those 'may' be connected to 1080p TV's and they are offering a mode that HD TV owners benefit from - the higher frame rate and a mode that 4k TV owners benefit most from - the higher resolution.
With base consoles, they are almost certainly going to be connected to (at least) a full HD TV and there was enough backlash to games not running at 1080p for years that they may have felt reluctant to drop the resolution to PS3 levels. There are also a number of games that even if you drop the resolution in half, you still can't deliver 60fps. Even the Pro with more than a 2x increase in GPU + the 30% increase in CPU speed can't deliver games like Infamous or Rise of the Tomb Raider at the same 'visuals' as the base PS4. In fairness, even the X which renders Rise of the Tomb Raider at native 4k/30, can't run the game at a consistent 1080/60 - that's dropping the resolution down to a quarter. I don't think people would want to play PS4 games at 540p to get 50-60fps option.
The big issue is the CPU. It still has to do all work it has to do and that doesn't matter if the game is 540p or 1080p or 4k. Dropping the resolution may save a few thousandths of a second, but if they can't hit the 16.6ms to get the frame out, then it won't hit 60fps. That's why dropping Resolution doesn't always work. It may save some of the render time but it may not save enough time to hit the 16.6ms. If, for example, the CPU needs 20ms with all the AI, the physics etc, and the render at 1080p is 10ms, that's perfect to hit the 30fps and no matter what resolution, how much render time you save, you still can't save enough time to drop below 16.6ms.

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Managed to play some more Mighty Gunvolt Burst tonight, finished off the last of the Mighty Numbers and now have what I can assume isn't he final level to do. However before I start the final part I want to get all the items in the levels first. Hopefully I will finish this game before Bayonetta 1 and 2 comes out.
