Cliff is a Vietnam veteran equipped with a machete, and it's that type of guerrilla warfare which dictates his attacks and fight approach. At the start of the encounter, he'll try to impale Frank with his machete, and then standard swipes revolve around him charging at our photojournalist and ending it with a knee strike. He then tries to escape taking any damage himself by hurrying off into the vents and trap doors spread throughout the store.

He'll regularly pop out on top of the store shelving having done so, at which point he'll throw flares onto the ground that release smoke to stop you from moving about. Alternatively, Cliff will throw a pipe bomb which deals heavy damage.

On your end of the fight, we strongly recommend the Mini Chainsaw dropped by Adam the Clown in Out of Control. You can kill Cliff in just a few hits using it. You also have the option of stopping by the Huntin' Shack before entering the store to stock up on Shotguns. The Mini Chainsaw is what works best, though, and you can continue The Hatchet Man after defeating Cliff.
