Einherjar Captains are rare, powerful opponents. They're essentially minibosses, wielding either large war hammers, or deadly scythes. They have a lot of health, and make use of several combos that are designed to mix you up.

You'll need to find an opening before beginning your assault on an Einherjar Captain. Their combos can consist of three or four hits, so patience is key. Their attacks are quite slow, however, so if you're not totally confident in your ability to parry, you can always trying dodging (although this requires good timing as well, just not quite as strict).

There is one attack you need to watch out for, though — a very quick jab that Captains perform with the bottom of their weapon. If this connects, Kratos will be stunned for a second, and you'll need to defend appropriately against the next attack. This jab can be blocked, so it might be a good idea to keep your shield raised when Captains are close.

When an opening does present itself, go all-in with quick combos of your own and any runic attacks you can muster. Deal big damage efficiently, and you'll eventually find victory against this troublesome foe.
