GTA Online: Best Multiplayer Modes and Jobs
For the purposes of this article, we're not going to focus on the best paying Jobs in GTA Online. If you'd like to learn How to Make Money Fast, then you can find more information on that through the link. It's worth noting that Rockstar does regularly boost select Jobs with GTA$ and RP rewards, and you can find out which series are being promoted in our GTA Online Weekly Update guide. The criteria for this page, then, is all about having fun.
Deadline
- Type
- Adversary Mode
- Players
- 2-4
- Required Rank
- 1
Deadline looks a whole lot like Tron, but it's effectively competitive Snake on Lightcycles. As you ride around the map, you'll leave a trail of light behind you. If another opponent drives into this they'll explode, with the last player standing winning the battle.
Hasta La Vista
- Type
- Adversary Mode
- Players
- 4
- Required Rank
- 12
It's trucks against bicycles in this brilliantly simple example of GTA Online's unrivalled flexibility. Those on the bikes need to pedal from point-to-point, while those on big rigs naturally attempt to squish their opponents like bugs.
Hunting Pack
- Type
- Adversary Mode
- Players
- 4
- Required Rank
- 12
In the Hunting Pack, a single runner will attempt to drive a truck rigged with explosives to a designated destination. Two teams in super cars will then compete over attacking or defending the van. The twist is that if the truck drops below a certain speed, it'll explode, so the offensive team can be victorious by simply impeding the target vehicle.
Land Grab
- Type
- Adversary Mode
- Players
- 2-16
- Required Rank
- 1
Land Grab is a futuristic Game Show-style mode, where teams of four compete over territory. Squads need to capture neon blocks by running over them, with the map resetting every 90 seconds. The team that captures the most blocks at the end of the designated time period wins a point, with three points winning the round.
Overtime Rumble
- Type
- Adversary Mode
- Players
- 2-10
- Required Rank
- 1
For the GameCube fans among you, Overtime Rumble is effectively Monkey Target with super cars. If you don't understand that reference, then think of it like curling or archery with cars instead. It's the kind of mode that would only work within the framework of GTA Online's insanely flexible sandbox.
Parachuting
- Type
- Parachute
- Players
- 1-16
- Required Rank
- 10
If you enjoy the base jumping missions in GTA 5's single player campaign, then Parachuting takes the same core concept and transforms it into a competitive game type. You'll be rewarded points for both accuracy and time, as you leap out of a helicopter and work your way towards a target on the ground.
Slasher
- Type
- Adversary Mode
- Players
- 2-8 (4-8 on some maps)
- Required Rank
- 1
Inspired by asymmetric multiplayer games like Dead by Daylight, Slasher pits one bloodthirsty murderer armed with a shotgun against a team of unarmed players, who have nothing but a flashlight to their name. A classic game of hide-and-seek ensues, with one fun twist: all those who survive for three minutes will be equipped with their own shotgun, allowing the hunter to become the hunted for the final phase of the match.
Street Race
- Type
- Street Race
- Players
- 2-8
- Required Rank
- 1
- Other Requirements
- LS Car Meet Member (See Also: How to Find the LS Car Meet and Become a Member)
While there are hundreds of races in Los Santos to compete in, including really fun series such as the Open Wheel Series, we reckon the Street Races are the best right now. Not only do these give Los Santos a unique flavour, but they're also packed with unique shortcuts and take us back to the time of Midnight Club on previous PlayStation consoles.
Survivals
- Type
- Survival
- Players
- 1-4
- Required Rank
- 15
The flagship co-op mode in GTA Online, Survivals are co-op battles where teams of up to four face off against increasingly challenging waves of enemies. This one needs no further explanation, but can be a fun challenge with friends.
