In this Horizon Forbidden West Trophy guide, we will be exploring the game's full list of Trophies, going through each one and telling you how to unlock them. As part of our Horizon Forbidden West guide, use this Trophy roadmap to track your progress towards unlocking the Platinum. If you want to know what Horizon Forbidden West's Trophies are, or how to unlock them, this guide has all the info you need.
It also contains details of the Trophies added with the New Game Plus update as well as those found in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores, the game's expansion DLC.
Note: While we have kept the details of story-related Trophies hidden, be aware that some Trophy names could reveal possible spoilers. If you've yet to finish the main story in Horizon Forbidden West, be careful browsing the Trophy list below.
Horizon Forbidden West Trophy Guide: How to Get the Platinum
Horizon Forbidden West has a fairly long list of Trophies — see below — but they're all very straightforward. As with Sony's other first-party games, the Trophy list here is kept pretty simple, making it relatively easy to complete the set and get the Platinum.
Essentially, if you play the game fully and explore its various side quests and activities, you'll be well on your way to earning the Platinum. There are a number of Trophies tied to Main Quests, so those are easily obtained as you progress through the story. There are three Trophies awarded for reaching certain player level milestones, which will also come naturally.
After that, you will earn a lot of Trophies by scanning and defeating all machines, which you'll be doing plenty of as you explore the open world. Perhaps the toughest Trophies will be the ones that require you to play through certain side activities, like completing all the Rebel Camps, earning Stripes at the Hunting Grounds, and finishing the Melee Pits.
Many Trophies will pop naturally as you progress, so our advice is to play through as you naturally would, reach the end of the story, and then see what you need to mop up afterwards. Odds are you won't have many to go.
Horizon Forbidden West Trophy Guide: Are There Any Difficulty Trophies?
There are no difficulty Trophies in Horizon Forbidden West's base Trophy set. You can play the game on any difficulty setting and get all the Trophies listed below. You can choose whatever difficulty level you like and it won't affect your ability to earn the Platinum.
However, there is one difficulty Trophy in the New Game + mode. Once New Game + is unlocked, you can earn the Completed Ultra Hard Trophy, which is self-explanatory.
For more on difficulty settings, see our guide: Horizon Forbidden West: What Difficulty Should You Select?
Horizon Forbidden West Trophy Guide: Are There Any Missable Trophies?
There is one possibly missable Trophy in Horizon Forbidden West. The Trophy All Machine Types Scanned requires you to scan every type of machine in the game. This isn't too hard, but in the final Main Quest, there is a unique machine that only appears once in the whole game. We won't spoil anything, but you must remember to scan it before you defeat it. To be safe, we would recommend making a manual save before you begin the final Main Quest, Singularity. This way, if you fail to scan the last machine, you can replay the mission from the manual save and try again.
It is also worth noting that the machine Specter only makes a handful of appearances throughout the game, so make sure you scan one of these as well to make sure you can get this Trophy.
Horizon Forbidden West Trophy Guide: All Trophies
There are 62 Trophies in Horizon Forbidden West, including that shiny Platinum — 59 in the base Trophy list and 3 in the New Game + list. In this section of our Trophy guide, we're going to outline each one, telling you what they are and how to earn them.
Be aware that some of the below Trophies and their descriptions may be considered spoilers, so proceed with caution.

All Machine Types Scanned

It is possible to miss this Trophy due to a very late-game machine that only appears once, but as long as you remember to scan everything, you should be fine. For more information about machines, see our guide: Horizon Forbidden West Machines: All Enemies, Strengths, Weaknesses, and Overrides.
Completed a Long Glide
Bronze: Glided uninterrupted for 60 seconds.
For this Trophy, you first need to unlock the Shieldwing. This is done after completing the Main Quest, The Embassy. Once you have the Shieldwing, you will be able to glide from great heights. You need to find a tall cliff or tower from which to jump and then glide for a full minute.
The first opportunity we found to do this is during the Side Quest, Signal Spike. This mission takes you to the top of a huge mountain. If you glide from the very top to the ground without hitting anything, you should pop this Trophy.
Elsewhere, you could wait until you have unlocked flying mounts, then simply fly up high, jump off, and glide to the ground. For more info about flying, see our guide: Horizon Forbidden West: How to Fly.

Completed 3 Relic Ruins
Bronze: Discovered and completed 3 Relic Ruins.

Tore off 100 Components
Bronze: Detached 100 components from machines.
When fighting machines, you may notice bits of them fly off when you shoot them. What you're doing is detaching various component parts from these machines, and key to taking them down. Remove 100 components in total to get this Trophy (it's not as many as it sounds, you'll do this in no time).
Picked up 5 Heavy Weapons

@Quintumply Hi Stephen, how are the hunting ground trophies compered to the first one? I recall the one in HZD which had the crab with boxes on them (sorry don't recall their name) being a particular toughie!
PS great guide thank you 👍
@Mostik Hi! The Hunting Grounds challenges aren't particularly hard really, as long as you tackle them at the recommended level or above. I think the one I had the most trouble with was an early one where you have to use tripwires to put machines in the Shocked state and then use environmental traps to kill them. Not sure why, I just struggled to get all the medals on that one haha!
But yes, the Hunting Grounds are fairly straightforward. The Arena, which is new for this game, is a bigger challenge, but I'll say no more than that
@Quintumply Great news, thank you for the response Stephen, can't wait to get stuck in later today 😁
Been quite surprised to see trophy guides elsewhere state a ‘Time-to-Plat’ time of around 30 hours. Having sunk around 15 hours in already and only just got to the titular Forbidden West, I’m thinking that I’ll be going way past 30!
Got the platinum I'd say the hardest trophy is the melee challenges hit and miss if you succeed.
