If you're playing Marvel's Avengers purely for the story-focused missions and ignoring anything and everything else, you can expect a playthrough of the campaign to last roughly 12 to 15 hours. However, doing so would skip the chance to upgrade your superheroes with new gear and experience side quests and different objectives.

Should you choose to complete these optional missions and work on upgrading your characters, a playthrough will take you upwards of 20 hours. Difficulty modes could also extend this playtime, but it is not recommended you increase the difficulty unless your gear score matches those requirements. Increasing the difficulty level in Marvel's Avengers is tied to stats more than your playing abilities.
