But there's positive news for Sony before we get into all the bad. The Playstation 2 managed to remain relevent in Quarter 1 2009 by selling one million more units than its tally last year (1.5 million vs. 1.6 million). The $99 price drop is certainly good reasoning for that change.
Elsewhere though, the Playstation 3 sold just 1.1 million in Q1 2009 (against 1.6 million in Q1 2008) and as for the PSP well... Well that didn't do too great at all. The PSP dropped from 3.7 million sold in Q1 2008 to just 1.3 million over the same period in 2009. Disappointing indeed.
We guess Sony have a lot more invested in the PSP Go than we ever imagined.
