Presumably to get ahead of the E3 noise. The executive continued that we'll see a much stronger storyline in the franchise's latest entry: "It's got a new storyline; we think that was one of the weaker points [in Guerrilla]," Farrell said. "Red Faction's always been a technological showpiece, and we wanted to add production values in terms of story and environment this year. And when you see the new Red Faction, it's just a much more appealing game universe."
Exciting times then. We thought Red Faction Guerrilla was really good, so if THQ can improve on that, well, they're onto a winner aren't they?
The game's being aimed at a Fiscal Year 2011 release date, so anywhere between now and March then. It'll likely drop just after Christmas.
In other THQ related news, the company's financial fortunes are improving. The company lost just $9.6million in the last fiscal year (ending March 31st, 2010) — a huge turnaround from the $431.1million deficit the year prior. THQ's software reception was also up, with games selling roughly 8% more and averaging an 82 on Metacritic.
Positive news for THQ then. May their success continue over the coming 12 months.
