According to a report by Reuters Japan (via Andriasang) the end of March was the turning point. The Playstation 3 has gone through various manufacturing changes since its launch, designed in order to cut costs. Whether this will give Sony leverage to move price in the future or not is unknown - but that is a rumour circulating the net right now.
