Take Two revealed the number last night during a financial earnings call. We're sure there were more than a few smug smiles around the room.

It wasn't too long ago that anonymous tipsters were claiming the Western shooter to be doomed, stating that Rockstar would need to sell four million copies to break-even, and that the company weren't even expecting to make money with the release. Errr... Yeah.

Naturally those shipped copies will need to be bought, but we imagine Red Dead Redemption will continue selling strongly for the remainder of the year. It should easily hit the eight million unit mark in our "expert" opinion.
