Driver: San Francisco's E3 Demo Details Protagonist Tanner's Shift Ability.

One of the key phrases you'll hear brought about a lot in this demo pertains to San Francisco's return to Driver's roots — namely the return of protagonist John Tanner and his main counter-part Jericho.

The most interesting new mechanic is titled "Shift". To give some context, during the events of the game John Tanner is completely comatose. This gives him the ability to "possess" practically any car on the road, and allows him to quickly recover from crashes or change direction. It's an odd choice considering Reflections reiteration that Driver's returning to its roots, but it does look like it could be a fun mechanic. Check it out after the jump.
