iFixit is dubbed a "free repair manual", showing readers how to take apart – and more importantly, put back together – a wide range of technological devices. One of its latest victims is the PlayStation Move controller, which fares rather well, actually.
With all rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries eventually running out of power after a set number of recharges, anyone concerned that this would necessitate a new controller is in for a nice surprise. Opening the controller needs only a Phillips screwdriver, with the battery easily removed and replaced if necessary with no soldering involved.
As for the controller's other guts, it includes a gyroscope, accelerometer, a processor and a microelectromechanical systems compass. Combine all that with the glowing orb on top and it's like a battery-powered Swiss Army knife.

omgz awesome i already thought "what happens when your move's lightbulb dies" and this was kinda made for my question. and these stories are what makes movemodo the best move blog. just awesome stuff not like "oh yeah move is outselling kinect with 10M sold starter pax in first week whatever", it's stuff like this and that arabs had move like half a month earlier and stuff! that's it. and imo the picture captions are cool. (as you may have seen, i like your twitter account.)

It's good to know it will be easy to replace the battery if that's ever needed. Still so much better than swapping AAs over every week or so like the Wiimote!
aww... i was hoping they would rip open the orb
@Dazza: That's what rechargeables are for
