.. Because they've got to top that stupid Modern Warfare 2 plot somehow! Call Of Duty: Black Ops has hardly had time to settle on store shelves but already Gamasutra's running a rumour that suggests Sledgehammer will take the CoD franchise into space next year.

Sledgehammer have been pretty public about their work with the Call Of Duty franchise, with gaffer Glen Schofield (of Dead Space fame) describing their project as "quite unique". Taking the franchise into space would be a pretty bonkers move for the series. Then again, James Bond's done it, so why not?
