Here's something that might put bees in a few bonnets: tomorrow's European launch of SOCOM: Special Forces doesn't come with a SOCOM Pro access code because this access is free for European PlayStation Network users. North American SOCOM Pro access is only free with the purchase of a new game — players who pick up the game pre-owned or from a rental must pay $14.99 for the content.
Unlike EA's Online Pass, the code isn't just for accessing the game's online play, which is available to everyone whether the game is bought new or pre-owned. The Pro code unlocks extra weapons, game modes and more, as well as exclusive maps and more. Europeans can gain entry to the Pro system at any time, whether they bought the game new or used, whereas those in North America can get in by buying the game new or purchasing access for $14.99.
What do you think of the difference between the two territories? Would you rather see both pay for access, or neither? Let us know in the comments section below.

Just wondering if some EU laws don't permit it.
But it doesn't bother me either way.
(Things that do bother me include, but aren't limited to: releasing games that must immediately be patched — letting consumers be de facto beta testers; releasing MP games with server issues, ie not stress-testing servers so they aren't prepared for the demand; and releasing DLC that would previously have been included in the game upon release, ie it's already on the game disc, but just unlocked with a paid-for access code. Not saying SOCOM 4 suffers from any of these.... justing ranting in general.)
