The green light is on: power up your PS3 and you'll be greeted by the familiar sight of a mandatory firmware update, pushing your system software up to v3.61. This will allow you to log in and change your PlayStation Network account password, securing your personal details from prying eyes.
Sony Computer Entertainment President Kaz Hirai has a special message about the return of PlayStation Network, which you can watch below.

I don't think that I have ever been excited about doing a firmware update but this one has to rank as my all-time favorite.
Everyone should be able to download the "Welcome back package" soon?
@dmmp1234 The Welcome Back Package will be available when the PSN Store returns. Brining PSN back online is happening in stages with online gaming being the first action in this process. We should be hearing information on when the Store will return soon, and we'll definitely let you know.
yes, I've waited 3 weeks to play firmware online, and now I can finally start again!
Passwords changed. It sure is nice being back online.
