While Sony never confirmed the system's specifications, the rumour commanded a lot of attention on a number of mainstream publications. Many suggested Sony had scaled down the ambition of its new handheld in order to meet price concerns.
But in a Twitter exchange with PushSquare reader mattyd128, Sony's head of Worldwide development, Shuhei Yoshida, said "do not believe everything you read on the Internet," casting doubt over the rumours. Shuhei was responding to the query: "Are the rumours true about NGP only having 256mb of RAM? If so, why? Is 512mb not better (future-proof)?"
Of course, Shuhei's comments are ambiguous enough to mean anything, but we imagine the executive would have said nothing if the rumours were true. Ultimately, we are just waiting to see the new batch of NGP footage. If it looks amazing, then who really cares?
