Literally clinically insane. (Probably.)
The fracas appears to revolve around two issues: resolution and frame-rate. Battlefield 3 runs at 30 frames-per-second with a resolution of 720p on PlayStation 3. On a high-end PC, the game can push 60FPS at 1080p. People were genuinely asking DICE developer Johan Andersson why this was the case on Twitter.
"We think huge levels, lots of players, great effects, destruction, vehicles & varied gameplay are more important than 1080p," said Andersson.
"How is that a shame? Name a single FPS game that runs at 1080p on any of the consoles? [We] would have to do huge gameplay cuts.
"Modern Warfare 2 runs at 1024x600 on PS3 with 2x MSAA. And I didn't do any digs at COD, just explained our trade-offs."
Of course, some of the blame must be aimed at publisher EA, who has been constantly showing off the PC version of the game with the hope of deluding people about the title's "amazing" visuals. We suspect some people genuinely did think Battlefield on consoles would look like the PC version. Welcome back to reality folks.
