We're just going to come out and say it: this rumour is almost certainly complete and utter nonsense. Still, it's interesting nonsense, so let's go with it.
According to DigiTimes, Sony's PlayStation 4 will feature body movement controls, with production starting late this year ready for a 2012 release. Current PS3 assemblers Pegatron Technology and Foxconn will once again handle production duties, with 20 million consoles ready for launch, according to the rumour.
Of course, considering Sony's iconic DualShock controller is now in its third version it's highly unlikely the company will ditch it and go total body control — particularly considering the sizeable investment into PlayStation Move — but it's an interesting rumour all the same. Let us know what you make of it below.

I wouldn't be surprised if they announced a new console next year but I'm sure it won't be released for a good while.
Yeah there is no reason for a PS4 just yet.
I can't find the link, but a top Sony executive just recently stated that the PS3 is definitely on track for a 10-yr lifespan, and that it may even stretch out a bit longer to 10-yrs.
I think that if Sony did this, it would overshadow the PS Vita a bit, and I think this rumour is completely wack!
This better be wrong. I liked Kinect but it can't play most types of games.
you can't believe all the bull you find on the web!
I'm less bothered that Sony recently stated they were still on track for a 10 year lifespan with the PS3 — I really don't give much currency to what Sony or most corporations say — than I am with copying a Kinect-like device.
I have yet to see the Kinect really put to good use, gaming-wise. Unless Sony can do it much better, it comes across as just a "me-too" gimmick.
i'm ready to replace my wii for sure but not my PS3. it really doesn't need to be replaced, I'd be kind of bummed out if this is true actually.
Is everyone here living in a cave??? With current consoles 5-6 years old their technology is ancient in computer years and graphics are outdated. Has anyone seen Battlefield 3 running on PC, enough said!! Give me a new console please before I have to turn to PC gaming, which I hate.
As long as the Move and other controllers are backwards compatible, I'd be fine. I just don't like the idea of all the peripherals I've invested in being proprietary to the PS3 when the next generation comes out. I spend just as much money on these, if not more, than the console itself.
