Previous Capcom titles on the PlayStation Network have required players to be online before they can be played, but that won't be the case with the company's upcoming re-released PSN brawler.
"The game does not make use of Sony's network DRM," said Capcom USA's Christian Svensson. "It is playable offline. We deemed that very important for future tournament use."
Street Fighter III is the first title in Sony's PSN PLAY program. It's due out on August 24th.
