But in Battlefield 3, if your tank gets hit by a rocket launcher, it's not much of a big deal. See, vehicles in Battlefield 3 are set to support replenishing armour.
The armour will only replenish if the vehicle is kept out of the line of fire however. If it passes a specific damage threshold, it will be disabled, left to smoke and burn while you're forced to go it alone.
You'll still be able to fire the vehicle's weapons while disabled though, allowing you to put down cover fire while an engineer hops by to repair things.
The game gets much more complicated from there too. A range of customisation options can be applied to each vehicle. There are 80 unlockable upgrades spread across the 12 different vehicle classes, each of which has three upgrade slots.
The unlocks allow you to tailor the game to your playstyle, or so the theory goes.
