Square Enix’s Shinji Hashimoto has confirmed that an HD remake of Final Fantasy X will release on PS Vita to mark the game's 10th anniversary. It will also release on PS3.
Square also confirmed another Final Fantasy game for the handheld, but it is not the Final Fantasy XI Online HD remake the company was rumoured to be working on. Instead, Hashimoto gave a release window for the PS Vita version of Final Fantasy XIII-2, the spin-off game based off of Final Fantasy XIII. That game is expected to hit Japan sometime in December.

Final Fantasy X doesn't need a remake, that's for sure. I know it's big in Japan and all that, but still...
Final Fantasy XIII-2, on the other hand, is big news. I know I'll be all over that.
EDIT: I still hope they remake FFXI sometime down the road, though. Now that game needs it!
FFXIII-2 on Vita? Now this I looked over
Ah well, I'll get it on PS3 anyway since I actually have one
@Mickeymac: It doesn't need a remake, no...personally, I think it being included in an HD collection would have sufficed. But Squenix doesn't really tend to like doing collections like that, so I can't say I'm surprised they'd do it this way instead. But it IS an excellent game that I no longer have the tech to play, so heck yeah I want it on PS3! All these Vita versions of PS3 games are getting annoying though, IMO. If given the choice, I'll take PS3 every single time. Save the Vita for games specifically designed for it, eh?
Question: Should I get Vita or Ps3 considering they are the same price?
I'm leaning on Vita more because I love handhelds (and more inclined to wait for a better slim version)..
Because I'm far more excited for this than I was PSP.
They're remaking FFX but not FFVII?
... why? D:
@MechaPhoenix
Cause it's easier to upscale FFX and fix a few textures then remake FFVII as they would most likely need to remake ALL of the backgrounds and possibly even the FMV sequences.
@komicturtle92
Vita, PS3 will only be around for a year or 2 longer where Vita will have some life ahead of it.
True that. So next consoles I'll get are WiiU and then PSVita when a slimmer version comes out (and hopefully, a blue one) :3
By the time, all these games will be out and some will be at a discount (like LBP and Wipeout). Win for me.
Honestly, @kdognumba1, I think that the PS4 will be announced at the earliest in a year or two. Sony has a ten-year plan for its consoles and PS3 is in its 5th or 6th year now. They'll probably overlap the last 2 years of the PS3 with the first 2 years of the PS4, so that's about another two or three years at least.
Not to mention that the best games on PS3, hardware/software potential-wise, will come out in the coming two years as well. I just got a PS3 for those reasons, and I'll be getting a Vita on day one. The remote play is just amazing, IMO
@rambo-hamster yea, they havent even done the most with software yet. I mean, PSmove just came out under a year ago. I have a feeling Sony wont release a new PS until the PS3 sells more than the PS2. And It certainly has the potential to do so. It has the BEST library of the 3 home consoles on the market right now. It has the most exclusives, and sales are still going strong.
as for the FFXIII port... WHY?!
I completely lost interest after FFVIII.
Why are Square Enix and Konami being stupid about bringing games to the Vita?
Konami f**ked up with SH: book of memories. Its a shame to see the 2nd most thrilling series in survival horror history.
We need a Dino Crisis on PSVita.
It's such a good series.
anyways.. I'd really like to see a new KH on Vita. Birth by Sleep was a classic. Now the hardware has so much more potential to make the game better than ever.

Because they don't make games specifically for you.
i knoow dat. but what the hell influenced their decision to take the worst final fantasy and bring it to the best handheld?
^ Or, they aren't porting FF13, they're porting FFX and FFXIII-2.
Anyone hoping Vita gets its very own Final Fantasy? I for one would love a proper sequel to Crisis Core. It had its flaws but I really enjoyed it.
Yeah, I kind of figured that was the reason, Hardy, it just ... grinds my gears. It better have some new content at least, else I'm gonna pass. Lazy ports don't do it much for me. :/
Also, Final Fantasy XIII is the best Final Fantasy game ever, so there.
I know I'm a bit late, but I thought I'd remind people of FFII if they're going to be throwing around "worst in the series" labels. Not to say that's necessarily my pick for worst...but it USED to be a popular one to bash before XIII hit.
@PatrickElliot, for me, the only flaws I had with FF: CC was the jaggies on all the models and the lack of decent camera control. Other than that, I LOVED Crisis Core. So seeing a sequel on the Vita would be very, very nice. In fact, seeing a new FF on Vita would be absolutely fantastic.
Now, is it likely? Knowing SE, hell no As anyone who's played Final Fantasy, pre-XII, would know that SE never follows logic and never gives the fans what they want. Fans want VI and VII more than X, yet we got X and XIII-2. So we won't see a new FF on Vita for a good long while, IMO.
In my heart of hearts, I want SE to come out and say, "Surprise! We've been trolling you all! Final Fantasy Type-0 is actually a Vita launch title! Enjoy!" But it'll never happen, due to the aforementioned reasons.
SE and logic don't play well together
If i got a vita would this game work on it? I'm tottaly clueless about everything because im an emerging gamer. haha
